Sounds like everyone is having a blast with this snow.  We had snow plus 1" of ice, made plowing/shoveling fun. Now like Tim the cold is coming.  I scrapped all workouts today as I think the cold bug might be creeping back (hope its just allergies). Just found out one of my co-workers has strep and another is sick (great)  so better safe then sorry.

Anyone have any fun superbowl plans?

I know I have a workout planned...and then some beers and rooting for the Steelers!

OK - sounds like another bet - Packers for sure - and if we ever meet at a race - loser buys the winner a beer after the race.

I wasn't able to do Masters two days because of the storm.  I hope the gym opens today so I can swim.  Swam 2400 on Sunday so I'm not too concerned.  Ran on the treadmill after shoveling and working from home yesterday.  45 mins with speed work with elevation.  The shoveling and some weights.

Ordered a Rumble Roller.  Supposed to be even more intense than the Trigger Point.  I will let you know.

Tonight. swim, yoga.  Friday Rest.  Saturday long brick, 3.5 hours on the Computrainer and an hour run on the treadmill and a Wild Game Banquet fundraiser.   Sunday, easier CT workout and Super Bowl.  I can't watch the entire thing.  My heart won't take it. I tune in and out, in and out, then catch the last entire quarter if it's close.  No betting but for money for me.  Down in a LiveSTRONG pool with some good numbers.

Superbowl Sunday will be a normal Sunday for us: Church, nap (I get a bike workout while the family sleeps) and then Church again. I'll catch the end of the game.

Workouts have been going good.  First week of the new program and I am holding up but  we'll see how I feel when I add the second swim this week tomorrow.

Stay warm everyone.

I'm impressed if you catch the end of the game, that sounds like a busy day ending around 11:30pm.  You will do just fine with the additional swim.

The nice thing about swimming is that it typically does not tax the body by doing more workouts.  So going from 1 to 2 usually does not fatigue you.  Heck you could probably go to 5 times per week with little falloff.  The problem for most (me included) is the time it takes to swim.  If you factor in travel/shower/swim/shower/travel your at 2 hrs for a 1hr swim.

Day 3 of captivity.  Spent about 3 hours yesterday digging out the drive.  Today I get to shovel out the end of the drive into the road since we haven't had a snow plow come by yet.  Hopefully one will come through our neighborhood today and we can maybe get out.

My Feb goals are to get down to 205 and to complete a majority of my workouts each week.  I want to be below 200 for my first sprint of the season, April 17, plus I can't remember the last time I was below 200 so it would be pretty nice.

I've been missing a lot of workouts because of sickness and now the weather. I want to get in a routine that last for more than two weeks.  A lot of that is my fault though because as the workouts get longer, it's a lot harder to fit them in just whenever.  I need to do a better job of looking at my week ahead and my schedule and planning when I'm doing what instead of leaving it to the last minute.  So that's what I'm looking to do in Feb.

This Superbowl you all speak of is a football game right? I think I've heard of it before.

hope everyone is staying warm.

i had a good day today. i did a long run followed by a swim but the best part was i used one gu followed by water with little problem.  i started to feel a little uneasy so i took a tums and no problem.  maybe i am making progress.

i ran with my buddy that does a lot of tris and we talked about his turmoil during his ironman he did in north carolina last nov.  it is so interesting to hear about the different things that go on (good and bad) during a race.  i was cracking up listening to him.

it would be interesting to hear from some of you veterans about funny things that have happened during races.

Good evening team. Hope eveyone is having a great day.

Got a bad migraine before bed last night. Took my migraine meds and shut myself in a cool dark room. Glad it happened at night because it was a bad one and if it was the day I would have had to shut it down wherever I was. Still felt the remnants of it this morning but got through the day and my workout. The workouts seem to help clear my head even though I feel kind of sick when I work out after a migraine. The 2 meds I take make me feel like I am severely hung over but they do help speed the elimination of my specific migraine symptoms. Sure am glad I don't get them very often.

Swim just ok - need to be able to figure out how to go longer distances without stopping and running out of breath? Maybe lesson this Saturday in Michigan will help?

Run - nice - 35 minutes on the mill.

Stretch and crunches.

Have a great night everyone.

Thanks Coach - I am really looking forward to it - I know it is going to help. I will let you know what I think of the place. I am also probably going to pick up a couple pair of running shoes as well. I am hoping to get a training pair and a competition pair for the season.

Hey Caleb. The plow came by my house late last night and this morning I had to do the old dig through the snow plow snow this morning to get out of the driveway. Just what I wanted to do this morning at 6:30 - not!

I'm sorry, I hate to bang on about the weather, but this is getting ridiculous. We got pounded yesterday, and are forecast to get more Saturday morning!! I was meant to be doing a long run Sat too. I can't stand the dreadmill any more, it makes everything hurt and sucks my soul.

Tomorrow is a swim and bike day. Let's hope I can get it done cause I am sick as a dog right now.

Scratched spin class tonight but was happy with my swim during the day.  I think I'm going to peel off another bike/run brick tomorrow and take a pass on the strength training.

Using lots of vitamins, multiple plus others and a Neti Pot.  Even though Kathy has been sick on and off for a month or more this winter (colds, flu), I've been unscathed.

Happy Friday everyone, sorry I have been awol for a while but this weather and work has been crazy.  Only time for 1 workout in 3 days (short at that).  Next week should settle down for me.  Hopefully all us snowpeople will get some better weather.

Scott, I have the trigger point and I don't want anything more intense :-) It kills rolling on my IT band.  Good luck on the 3.5 hr bike Sat.

As for anyone wanting to do an IM, I would not advise the St. George race atleast if the computrainer is anything like the real course.  Actually just kidding but I think you just climb for 6hrs.

Caleb with good solid workouts below 200 should be pretty easy to get to, just keep your workouts up and eat clean.
I think its called American football actually  :-

Jason,  You may want to try some other nutrition (brand of gel) if you need a tums after 1 GU.  One should not affect you that adversely.

I don't think I have any good stories, but I did crash pretty good last year in Knoxville and one of the issues was the road burned through my tri shorts.  After getting some medical attention I decided to wait for my wife and finish the bike with her with my entire left butt cheek hanging out.  Got some funny comments from the Aid workers.  Luckily had a pair of shorts in the transition so I could run without my butt hanging out.  I will ask my wife if anything goofy happen, I tend to zone out on race day.

KC hopefully your migraine is gone.

Deb, the small amount of snow we have got has been a pain (2deg temp -13 wc no fun) I cannot image what our city would do with all the snow you have received.  As for the treadmill if it does not actually injury you it will make you mentally strong.  If you can do a long run on a dreadmill the same distance outside will seam like a walk in the park.

Rob, great job!! Good luck with the brick today.

Scott you better leave this group I think we are all infecting each other through the computer.. LOL  just kidding you keep up the workouts and stay healthy.

I get relief fro the Trigger Point.  Really harsh at first, then easier until now I can rest one leg on top of the other and roll. Got to have more now.

Should I confess I am already in love with a certain course? - No, it's not St. George -  I don't know what it is about my course, I just 'know' that's the one I want to do IF I get to that stage. I visit the area often, have driven the bike / run course many times over and went to watch the race last year. I plan on going to watch again this year.

Yes, I DO realise I am a long way off from an IM race....... approximately 2 years, 5 months, 2 weeks and 5 days. But who's counting?  Wink

Yup, that's the one!  My very first trip over to the US, before I even knew about tri's, I visited LP. It was in the dead of winter, the place was covered in snow and I just fell in love with it. Since then, I have been back sooo many times.  My in- laws are about an hour away, so each time we go to NY, we go to LP. - I took my daughter ice skating at the Olympic oval back in December.

my 'secret' plan is.....complete a HIM this year('12), volunteer at LP next year ('13), and then in 2014 do the deed. But since that's a secret, I'm not telling anyone Laughing

The Keene decent scares the life out of me, and the back stretch coming back into town....... HOLY flippin MOLY.

Yes I am.  My cousin is coming down from Canada to come check it out also.  Should be interesting.  I'm hoping they have deals on gear.  I need a wetsuit.

Which seminars are you planning on attending? I think I will likely do the Dave Scott one, The Total Immersion and the bike fit ( I want the coupon for a discounted fitting at Fitwerx lol) Plus all the other 'side' bits of course.
