Welcome home Helen.  Hope you had a great time in Ireland.  Did you do any riding over there?  Bet the kids loved it.

This is a selfish challenge from our challenge team from last month.

Stacie called me out for hating on the elliptical (I did some damage to my ITB so I restricted from riding or running) and I think she was a wimp for feeling the same towards Strength Training (ST).

So I challenged her and the rest of the team to see who could find the one item they disdained the most and whoever did the most sessions for November is champion!

So needless to say Stacie is so far behind all of us true disdainers that she has no chance of catching up (Wink - a little smack talk since we have been so polite to each other lately) and so she will have to put in her signature line - I got punked by (whoever wins) in the November Disdain Challenge and keep it there all of December!

Wild Thing 2s grades were 'uncharacteristically' low in Lang Arts/Reading and Social Studies (all taught by the same teacher)

i brought this up as a concern, since these arent typical subjects that M. struggles w.

theres an interim teacher thats covering for the reg teacher who has been on Maternity leave.  she's coming back two days before Thanksgiving break.

the team said, w/out saying it (disparaging their co-worker) that M. is not 'the problem'

well.  alrighty then.  talk about a 'strange' conversation.

im hopeful (as they are) when the 'regular' teacher returns, Ms. grades should improve.

skrtrnr - 2009-11-11 5:26 AM MORNING GHOULIES.

inserted off day for me today....

teacher-parent conferences.  get to go hear how well my kids are doing and to hear how wonderful they are.....for someone else.

j/k.  they're good kids all three of them.  and im so thankful that they're growing up well.

they BETTER.  i work hard enough!

in fact, speaking of kids, i was at the register at McDs (picking up Ghoulie orders) my kids unprompted by me used their manners to ask for an Icee - excuse me, may i please have a blue raspberry....thank you.

and the lady at the cash register said, 'its so nice to children who are parented well.  who behave appropriately.  who use their manners.  i see 'all types' here and most of the kids definately are not as well behaved as your children.  you can tell you spend time with them and teach them 'right'....

how nice is that??

they Know better than to act like WILD THINGS in public.

i was never opposed, when they were younger, leaving a full grocery cart in the store, taking them to a stall in the bathroom or out to the car and swattin' their WILD THING behinds or sending them to their rooms as soon as we got home.

im glad for moments like those.  makes when they act like Wild Things a little more 'tolerable'

they're 'coming around', parenting IS a lot of hard work and to do it 'well' it takes energy/time....but oh so worth it!

and golden when you get a compliment!

so its parent teacher conferences.  and then chiropractor appt in the middle.

and hoping that i dont lose my mind when my "well-mannered" children are underfoot.

they may be WILD THINGS, but they're MY WILD THINGS.

LOL.

That's a great story Stacie! Glad to hear your kiddos have learned their manners, but I'm not surprised. You definitely seem to put a lot of time and effort into them and it's no wonder that it shows. I also love getting compliments like that. It really makes my day! Yay for kids who know better than to act like punks in public!!!

Ouch... good luck with that. Luckily we've been blessed with teachers who for the most part have been plenty capable, even superb at times. Unfortunately there have been a few who we felt weren't giving our kid a fair shake, but we were able to work through it. Hopefully things will improve for your kid when the "regular" teacher returns in a couple weeks.

Good morning Ghoulies! Day off from work here so I get to celebrate by CLEANING HOUSE!!! Yay! I'm so excited! Grr...

On the bright side I have a 30 min tempo run today which should be interesting. I'll be hitting my acceleration peak right about the time I start a 4% grade half mile hill. I have a couple songs in my iPod that should help me up the hill. I'll let you know later what I choose...

Morning Tom - you are a veteran (well currently) so there is no house work allowed today!

Have a great run and just remember back to when you could not run because of the ITB and let that be your motivation up that hill!

Have a great day!

Thanks Bill! Unfortunately there's work that needs to get done around here. The good news is that it'll be more of a "sweepers" than a "field day." I'll save that for the weekend

As for the ITB-as-motivation, I definitely think about that every time I lace up the running shoes. I've also started dedicating stretches of my runs to the Ghoulies since you guys have really helped me these last several weeks.

im gonna oooooze curry for days.    [goes well w that Cannabis smelling lotion ive been using]

iowagander - 2009-11-11 1:02 PM Mixing curry and cannabis, huh? Sounds like you're getting ready to move out to California

im not sure California 'qualifies' but i always say that i was born in the WRONG hemisphere/continent...i have this 'attraction' to all things Asian - food, dress, culture, religion, art....

as for the Cannabis attraction, i think im a hippy 'at heart'....never did/will smoke the stuff, i just like how it smells in my lotion.
