Got y'all beat!  I had back surgery on 11/30, and was just given clearance to get back on my bike about 1 hr ago.

Sadly IMTX is out for me for the same reason.  There is always 2012 to be ready for.

I will be there to be the best jockstrap you all have ever seen!

Hey! Great news that you're cleared to get on the bike! That's awesome progress! Glad to hear you're doing better. Just consider this a long "base" phase for 2012 and you've out-trained us all already!!

Happy New Years folks! Monday is a big day for those of us on a 20 wk plan. I'm kicking it off a day early on Sunday with 3 buddies who I'm training with for IMTX. There will be an official weigh-in, "before" photos will be taken, then we'll do a group ride or run.

Happy and healthy training in 2011 to everyone.

Finished 2010 with a 40 mile bike yesterday and kicked off the New Year with the Texas Half Marathon in Kingwood today.  Ran with my wife and brought her in for a half marathon PR for her!  Good training day.  Nice thing about the race course is it is a 6.55 mile out and back, so we got to watch the marathon leaders flying back by us and then past us while were were doing the half.  After we finished the half the announcer brought in the winner of the marathon stating "and he will be at Ironman Texas in May" - I will have to check the results, but that guy can run whoever he was.  His training is a little farther ahead of mine (and will remain so).

Happy New Year!

It's a great little race!  A new PR and the finishers medal were well worth the drive from San Antonio.

So what did everyone do to kick off their 20 week IMTX training? Day #1, for me, was a 77.64 mile ride and a 2.78 mile run.

This is my first IM so I hired a coach and got a jump on training starting December 1.  Been logging some quality workouts since, completing a 70+mile (trainer) ride and 15 mile run last weekend.   However, based on my past experience with longer ride/runs I still have my doubts and the lingering thought that I’ll be crawling to the finish line.  Do the doubts ever really go away?

Had Monday off from work for the holiday, so took advantage to get a little extra in...

Spin class (taught)

3000 yard swim

2 hrs on the trainer - it was 31 degrees out, does that make me a wimp?
