Wow that would make my swim workouts soooo much more enjoyable!! Especially since I, unlike Hilde the fish, am unable to reach a Zenlike state during my swims! LOL On another note...anyone interested in purchasing a very gently used I-Pad - the original - w/all the accessories PLUS a leather portfolio, keyboard- charger-stand and a shiny silver back case to boot.....paid $750 new 6 months ago for the lot and willing to let it go for $500 plus shipping....broke student/athlete/mom in need of some cash for the summer...
Sorry, but my MacBook Pro is all I need at the moment!!! That sounds like a pretty good deal tho - hopefully you'll get a taker. There is always Craigslist too...that's free and usually pretty good. We've sold and bought lots of stuff on there...I bought my bike on there! Understand the need for summer cash...we were talking about taking a family vacation this summer...The kids have never been on a plane so it sounds like it will be a plane ride somewhere for vacation...We'll see what the kiddos think about where we might go....I vote for Jamaica, Aruba or Puerto Vallarta....but kids on that kind of trip....NOT!!!!! Why is it that I can see you taking your kids to Hedonism or some other place and not think anything of it??? That's why they couldn't go.....I love Hedonism!!!! The closed down Hedonism III....not sure what up with that - that was the nicer of the two in Jamaica. Glad you got your mind straight Shawn!!! haha....Have you been there? |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I'm glad you feel so comfortable that you can share those WONDERFUL thoughts with us, Wilson, it doesn't make you seem like a pig....... at all..... really....... So does it make me a weenie if I don't want to go ride 37 miles today because the wind is a sustained 27 mph with gusts up to 40, and it's near 100 degrees?? Tomorrow is a long run and I'll want to get that done early in the a.m., so I guess that will leave me early Monday morning to get in a long ride... ugh, I hate how we are at the mercy of the weather! |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() hildekq - 2011-05-28 2:44 PM I was just goofing Hilde - I removed that post!I'd say you weren't too much of a weenie. I left the house for a 60 mile ride and got caught in the rain and lighening abt 25 miles into it. I had to call the wife to come pick me up. I was in foreign territory and had no idea where and when I cud seek shelter -- I happily saw a dairy queen in the distance and I'm waiting here now!!! So I got a strawberry sunday - yum and now I wait for my ride!!I'm glad you feel so comfortable that you can share those WONDERFUL thoughts with us, Wilson, it doesn't make you seem like a pig....... at all..... really....... Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Wilson, I don't embarrass all that easily... but some of our other MMM members just might! When you have the desire to be really raunchy, feel free to PM me, I think you are hysterical!! I didn't mean to make you pull your post!! Now everyone's gonna wonder exactly what you wrote and I bet their imaginations will make it worse than it really was, ha ha!! We love you Wilson!! Glad you were able to get out of the rain, and it was a sign from God, a DAIRY QUEEN!! You died and went to heaven!!! I ride out in BumF**K TX and there's nothing but cow pastures and doublewides... I'd probably have to hide out under a tree, not very smart in a thunderstorm!! Luckily I stick pretty close to home, I'm usually within 20-30 minutes of getting home if I need to, I know ALL the shortcuts! More awful wind called for today, but I need to get out there and log some kind of bike training, even if it's short. I'm going to make myself get out there EARLY tomorrow when the wind is the calmest (and calm this morning was still 17 mph). Heading out for a long run now... 7+ miles, and I actually welcome the wind for my runs, helps dry the sweat! |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() TTucker - 2011-05-27 12:56 PM Tammy, I'm thinking about eBaying mine - last I checked, people were paying retail for used ones there - wtf?! I have an iPad 2 on order, because I just HAVE to be able to video chat w/ my homies when I'm in Canada (too expensive to call from there).I saw someone at the pool using those things! Wow that would make my swim workouts soooo much more enjoyable!! Especially since I, unlike Hilde the fish, am unable to reach a Zenlike state during my swims! Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Tammy - Retail..seriously?? Hmph...Not real bright then. I LOVE mine but it is more recreational at this point than necessary. Will have my hubby put the word out on post to see if he can find any takers. I have a nook, the original too, and want to upgrade to the new one but don't want to go without mine for any length of time...I'm a bookaholic! Hilde - The wind just about knocked me off my bike this morning!! I haven't checked your blog yet but bet if you went any later than we did, you had WORSE wind! I was thankful on the one hand because it helped keep the heat down but doggone - it could've done that w/o huffing and puffing and trying to blow me off my bike!! LMAO |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Um yeah, I never got to my bike ride yesterday... we got busy, went out to lunch and did some shopping and by the time I got home there was no way I was going to torture myself. I will bike what I can this week, but NEXT week I hope to be htting all my training, no excuses because I'll be on summer vacation!!! |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hello all! Hilde - sorry to hear it's been so windy keeping you off of your bike Gosh, I wish I could splurge on the iPad....I realllllly want one but considering my "situation" I need to refrain from dishing out $500 I guess! Wilson - so, fess up, you got the Peanut Buster Parfait and then double Banana Split...right? I've gotten in a few runs, this past week, a bike ride yesterday, and I'm hoping for a swim later today :1up:.
Just wanted to stop in and say "hey"! |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I am so glad to see you checking in Marsha, I can't imagine all you are going through right now... glad you are still getting in some exercise for stress relief!! If you need some laughter, check over here, Wilson is sure to have posted something funny, Shawn too!! We ARE a crazy group!!! I got a new toy this weekend, a netbook computer, teeny laptop, and I hooked up a wireless network... Ron got a laptop too, claims he needed it because I'm on all the time, ha ha! We still have the desktop, but I love this little one so I can catch up on my internet surfing, esp. BT and FB and also check my email. And it's small enough I can put it in my purse... I'm looking forward to taking it to Indy!! Sorry Tammy, the iPad is awesome, but this was a lot cheaper and I'm a PC kinda girl.... |

I'm looking forward to taking it to Indy!! Sorry Tammy, the iPad is awesome, but this was a lot cheaper and I'm a PC kinda girl.... Yep, Marsha can find comic relief here...no problem with that...this is a screwed up bunch!!! Hey, Hilde - congrats on the little baby laptop...My wife has one and likes it too. I love my MacBook Pro 13 inch...the smallest, but perfect keyboard for my big hands...her netbook is challenging for me to type on. You'll love the portability for sure. And you can hook up to my wireless while you're here so you won't miss a beat. So, before my "long" ride that got squashed with storms...I finally broke down and bought my first bike jersey!! I swore I wouldn't buy one because I wasn't fast enough yet, but I got tired on having to tape all my nutrition packs to my handlebar stem and rip it off....Lately I'd been stacking a few because I needed more than one....So I left with a cool white/black/grey Endura bike jersey. I love the pockets in the back...that is cats meow to carry stuff. It even has a zippered pocket in the back with a pass through for headphones...So, I also had to put my blackberry back there with Pandora streaming my favorite station....wow, having music was super nice today...I'm liking that...not sure about the safety, but it's cool...Hey I figure why hear the car screeching towards me and tense up...better to be relaxed when I get creamed...Plus I got my new RoadID, so I'm covered now..right!!! I loaded the other pockets up with nutrition stuff and loved having it all right there...I'm surprised how easy it is to get to...didn't think that would be the case. So for $75 smakeroos...I'm official now....gotta get me some more!! They had a Purdue University (my alma mater) jersey, but I'm definitely not fast enough for that one! I also road the coarse of the Eagle Creek Indy Tri.....man, the inclines/hills are sneakers - I tell you....I forgot how challenging the park was and then after you leave the park there are three inclines to the turn around...the last one kills me everytime....Some of you will see!!! Or you'll think I'm a puss and ask me what I'm talking about..dunno... There is one corner in the park I'm gunna have to show you guys when you're here...It's downhill both ways and a 90 deg short sweep corner...every year a few go off and crash...I went through it at 22mph today and felt pretty good.....it's nice to carry speed cuz it's uphill both ways after that. I also visited the transition area by the beach....and rode up that hill.....and thought about the run up that hill....it's a biatch...just off the bike and BAM!!!! A nice hill to climb....it's wonderfully miserable...I can't wait for you guys to experience that one too....It'll be nice to talk about that in the hot tub or floating in the pool.....or visiting wilson in the medical tent after I explode at the finish...well timed, but explode!!! haha....okay, I guess it's time to shutdown...pack my swim bag for tomorrows early morning fun and get some rest......We had a campfire tonight and made smores with the kids...that was fun and very very messy!! haha Hope everyone has a great week after the long weekend....4 day workweek people!!! |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hey gang, just wanted to let you know that I'm on the cusp of a delimma regarding Indy. My sister is now not interested in coming down with me, and I also have a lot happening right now. I'll make a decision soon and let you know. Its a hard decision for me, believe it or not, I'm even having dreams about it! |
![]() ![]() |
Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() My vote, Janet, is that you HTFU and come to Indy!!! My daughter wanted to cancel on me and I was prepared to drive the 1000 miles there alone!! There might not be another chance to meet the fabulous MMMers!!! Having said that, of course I understand everything that can come up and cause havoc with a trip... like GAS PRICES!! I may be driving my Mini because we'll save over $200 in gas, we'll (yeah, she's still coming) sacrifice a bit of comfort that's for sure, PLUS I'll have to do all the driving because she can't drive a stick, but that's the price we have to pay to have a once in a lifetime experience!! Can you picture me AND Wilson together at the same time?? (Me either ha ha!) |
![]() ![]() |
Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Yeah, I hear you about Gas prices. It is $4.19/gal. right now in Michigan. I'd love to know what is going on! Just so you don't think my sister is a total flake, her future daughter-in-law is having a bridal shower on 6/18 and she really needs to attend. I'm still sitting on the fence. I'd love to see the Hilde / Wilson show in person! Hopefully someone will make a video! |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() That pastor had it all wrong and still does. The end of the world will actually come when the two storms of Hilde and Wilson come into contact with each other. I just hope that I am far enough away from Indianapolis to not suffer from the devestation that will be wrought! ![]() |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Wilson and Hilde FOREVER!! BFF's in cyberland!!! You cannot hide from our power, Shawn, we will find you! I just gotta put out a HUGE brag on my tri peep and good friend Tammy for turning into a swimmer!! She did over 1000 yards in Open Water yesterday!! She has gone from panicking at putting her face in the water to swimming non stop in the lake. Who knew?? I turned into a runner, and Tammy is a SWIMMER! |

Tammy - a huge congratulations on your accomplishment!! Even I can remember how hard it was for you a short time ago so to do 1000 yards in open water is amazing. We're all so proud of you!!!

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() My friends...let me tell you that when you have a fantastic coach and a great mentor who is also a great friend it makes things a bit easier to learn... Yesterday I really fought with myself about going to the OWS w/the coach but knew I had to conquer my fear of the water or the rest of the season would be up in the air because of the swim. The first 175 yards was tough and as I searched my imagination for something positive to make the panic go away. I pretended (in my head) that there were invisible fish-beings in the water keeping my legs afloat so I didn't have to kick so hard and expend too much energy...Silly as it sounds - it helped! LOL Of course, watching Hilde aka the Water Terminator swim like the fish she is inspired me to do better. The last 350 was with her and coach Kristi CRACKING THE WHIP over my head and telling me to HTFU and get done already... On another note....Shawn...What's up with you? Left me hangin' dude!! I know life is crazy and now w/all five kids at home and no nanny - TRUST that I know how hectic life is. Thanks for the kudos on the swim! It's been a ride - now I just have to put it all together and turn all I have learned into one or more successful events!! Wilson - Glad that the jammers and the new high speed bike shirt are working out for you! I know how much more efficient I feel in my 1 piece Zoot tri-suit versus the older 2 pc....What a difference some clothing makes! Edited by TTucker 2011-06-03 10:53 AM |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Whoo-hoo Tammy! To me it seems harder to become a swimmer than it is to become a runner. At least if you can't run well (or fast) you aren't going to drown right? |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Way to go, Tammy! I love your invisible fish-beings! I may have to borrow them for my next OWS; I could use a little boost! |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() AWESOME job, Tammy! I *love* the fish-beings: betcha they were having a blast helping you along, too! 1000 yard OWSs are nothing to sneeze at-- the fact that you've gone from being afraid to put your face in to getting one of these done is nothing short of FABULOUS! *cheers like mad* |

At least if you can't run well (or fast) you aren't going to drown right? It's the same reason flying is more nerve-wracking than driving: you can't pull over to the side of the sky! GIRL!! You hit the nail on the head!! For someone who likes to FEEL in control of all situations, swimming is one event where the proverbial $hit can hit the fan w/o much notice and with dire consequences. As Peggy pointed out, one most likely is not going to keel over during the run or the bike..ANYHOW.... I got the idea of the imaginary fish floaties from a book I am reading on my nook about the ocean of dreams where all these beings that we dream up exist....pretty neat idea. : - ) |
