Hey guys, family is here and dinner is about to be served. Did I tell you how loud it is here, I forgot how quite my house when I'm alone.

My daughter and my wife flew in this morning as well. So the house is getting fuller by the minute. I hope you guys have a good turkey day also. I'll check in later.

How did the turkey frying go today? You were going to try it solo right?

well I showed some remarkable restraint at dinner time.  Just a normal serving of turkey (OK a little extra there), veggies, stuffing.  But I offset it all with 4 miles of walking and a good hard 1:40:00 on the trainer before dinner!  Hope everyone had a great day.

Hi Cat & Heather & Mila..I see you're all still online!!

Hi Max!

Good for you for getting in that pre-emptive strike.  Me?  Not so much... and I loved the conversation with my 9 year old at dinner:  "Is this healthy?" points to the sweet potatoes... nope.  "How about this?"  Spinach and artichoke casserole with cream cheese and sour cream... ummm, no, not really.  "Green beans?"  Well, not terrible but not as healthy as I usually make them.  "Well, I don't think mashed potatoes are healthy."  No, you're right.   Oy... so finally she says, "I know turkey is healthy."  Mighta been if we hadn't deep fried it in a vat of oil.  Stick with the ham, kid.

Amazingly enough, she didn't bother asking about the pumpkin cheesecake with real whipped cream.  Guess that was a no brainer.

The turkey turned out great, actually two turkey's. My nieghbor asked me to show him as well and we just made it an afternoon of cooking and a few beers as well (two and I'm done). What took the longest was the tri-tip, which I happily assisted with because it turned out really good.

I hope our day is going well.

Men with beer stading over meat while it cooks... sounds like a traditional Aussie christmas time party (although the meat is on a barbeque not deep frying!)

No headache but it was cold and the temp on Sunday is suppose to be around the low 60's. I know the temp was below 60 today.

Turkey frying is an event here.  All the men in the neighborhood get together.  Men make big fire.  Men drink beer.  Men fry turkey.

They take the kids (and hopefully keep them away from the turkey frying) and all the kids play together during the turkey frying marathon.  The moms hang at home and drink wine and do the other prep work.  When we first moved to the south I gagged at the thought of frying turkeys... now it just isn't Thanksgiving without it!

You da man!!!!  Ooops, but don't take my advice on any swimming technique.  Anyone who has been around here for a while knows that my swim practice consists solely of the 2 minute warmup before the race.  This year I swam a 1/2 Ironman in June with my only practice swim being a race the previous August!!!  LOL, and my June swim was within 1 minute of my normal time for 1/2 IM distance.  Why practice?  That's my philosophy!!
