Sorry to hear about your grandma! Thoughts and prayers for her and her doctors and your family. Please let us know how she is when you get back from Pittsburg.

Ward - You should look into buying a trainer.  It was the best training investment I ever made.  I got a fluif trainer off craigslist for $100.  Sometimes they are posted in the Classifieds section on this site.

Thanks everyone for the kinds thoughts about my grandmother.

I know, but I was over my planned budget by about 20% for the bike and accessories.  Also I have 2 gym memberships (I don't pay for either), might as well use them.  However, I will look for a used one and see what the boss says.

Keith, thanks for the info. Would like any more tips you have. Ward, keep up the good work on the bike. I understand completely the bike budget problem. You won't regret your purchase. Shari, you're going to be a fish soon.

Sorry I've been lost in work. Cold and flu season have hit. But tri season is just around the corner!

Anyone up for a February challenge??? How about posting your distance goals for Feb. Set your goal. Any kind of biking, including spinning, recumbent, etc. counts. And for running, you can use walking, elliptical, and runs. OK, I'll go first.

Swim 4000, Bike 56, Run 30. Anyone else up for the challenge???

Carol

Bike - 8 hours

Swim - 10,000 yds

Hello everyone... Keith -so glad to hear your grandma's surgery went okay. Tell her your little mentor group is pulling for her! Hey Carol, thanks for the Finding Nemo quote, that was awesome!

A February Challange, eh? OK, but nobody laugh at mine! Remember I am training to do a Tri Sprint (500m swim, 16 mile bike and 5k run) and my goal is simply to complete it.

Run/Walk: 48 Miles
Bike: 120 minutes
Swim: just get in the water with at least 2 30-40 minutes sessions a week (not sure if I will be able to measure yards or meters for Feb yet)

Bike 60 Mi
Run 90 Mi
Swim 8000 Yd

I may have underestimated my estimate so I should do okay. This will be the first month in which I can choose what runs I do so therefor I can also choose how much I want to do a week in all three disipline. Good luck to all!!

Accountability. That is my word for this week and I know my week seems to be starting on Wednesday but that's okay. I had a major "fall off the wagon" crisis but I'm over it. I'm am going home tonight and getting on the treadmill NO MATTER WHAT. And I know that you all, as my mentor group, will hold me accountable to following through with my plan. I do not want to have to sign in tomorrow and tell you that I didn't do it. That will be embarassing.
I didn't sign on to the BT ywebsite esterday as I didn't have anything to log. Again. Today when I signed in and went to my training log I had the best Inspires from a couple of you... THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!
I am going to go find my inner triathlete and we are going to become best friends again!

I did not want to put this down until I had somthing other than biking accomplished this month.  So here it is:

Swim 1000/1000/15000  yds

Bike 0/34.56/150  miles

Run 3/3/35  miles

Lofty goals buy certainly within reach!

Hey ya'll. Just checking in to say thanks sooooo much for the many inspires lately. I'm getting pretty squirrelly right here before the race. Crazy time at my house. Flu season is roaring at work. They're filming 2 movies in our town, daily sending in the wounded with their minor injuries and major attitudes (OK, not all of them), 19 y/o is trying to pull a "B" out of organic chemistry, 12 y/o is training for a tri in March, 8 y/o has poison ivy all over his face (go figure...how'd he do that in the dead of winter???), and the 2 girls are just trying to stay out of trouble. Richard is having good and bad days, too. But our race is 12 days away and I got a shirt printed especially for it. Will try to post a pic. Anyway, ya'll are the best and I really appreciate your support. Here's my most recent numbers.

Swim: 0/0/4000, Bike 0/14.8/56, /Run 3/20/30.

Not so good for a challenge, but then it wouldn't be a challenge. Ya'll are all doing so good. Keep training.

You are going to rock that race!

Here is my update...

Earned today / Earned this month / Goal

Here's mine:

Swim: 0/1.2K/10 K yds

Bike: 0/0/8 hrs

Run: ?/39.3/100 mi

Getting a swim in today so that will help.  I really need to get on the bike.  I wanted to do 1 or 2 60 min trainer rides each week but it is not fitting in with everything else.

Keith, your runs are awesome! I'll be glad to get back on the bike too. Weather down here is great for riding, now. Don't push too much, your race isn't that far off. Saw your HIM is in July??? I pushed mine back to Nov so DH can do it with me. So after 1/2 mary, I can just ride and ride and ride, without having to push a plan for a while. Yippee!

I'm really looking forward to running less and swimming/biking more.  I've gotten in the pool 3 times in the past week and it feels really good to get back into it.  I'm got 15 miles tomorrow and then the taper really kicks in.

Hi y'all,

After about 6 weeks without any noticeable running, due to a very noticeable knee , I'dd like to start running again. Just before it all began, or rather, ended, I was running 3 times a week, with 2 10k runs and 1 13 or 14k run.

Question I have now is, where do I start again, and how fast could I increase volume again?
There is the 10% per week rule that you can add, is this what I should take into account as well ? And if so, at which volume should I start again ?

Cheers,
Leo

Leo -  would start at 5K @ and easy pace and go from there.  The 10% rule is a good one and should apply to your weekly mileage as well as your long run.

So how is everyone doing?!?  Are you meeting your goals?

Earned today / Earned this month / Goal

Here's mine:

Swim: 1.2K/5.95K/10 K yds ~ 60%

Bike: 0/1/8 hrs ~ 12.5%

Run: 0/54.3/100 mi ~ 54%

Bike has been pretty weak but swim and run have been good for me in February.

I am a little behind, since there is 29 days this month and yesterday was the 19th, that puts us at 65% of the month.  My stats are:

Bike 73/150 miles   49%

Run 14/35 miles    40%

Swim 8150/15000 yds  54%

My 1st two weeks had too many days off, however, there will be better weeks and months ahead.
