Just be sure not to push too much with the knee, I've missed 2 1/2 months because of a over use injury.

I have 28.1 for the week, and 52.1 total for October.  That's 45% of my goal, but right on track with my training plan.  I will reach my goal.  No worries, monsters!

Hey monsters!  I'm at 17.9 for the month, so somewhere around 7 for the week.

Like naners, I'm not not quite halfway, but still pretty well on track with my training plan.  The next two weeks are gonna take a little extra discipline to meet my mileage, but that's why it's a challenge, right?  I'll get 40 by the end of the month, no question.

Nice work so far, everyone!

Great job this week everyone.  I just wanted to give you all a heads up and tell you that our team number is going to be low this weekend because I think we may have lost two members.  I haven't asked that they be removed from the team yet, because I'm going to give one more week to see if they come back online.  If I haven't heard anything from them soon I'll see what I can do about not counting their goals.  But everyone who has logged their miles has done very well, we're all right around that 45-46% mark, which is right on pace, and we have a couple who are over the 50% mark.  I'm actually bringing us down .  But like others, if I stick to my plan I'll be at %100 by the end.  Keep it up mashers!

I need to come to this thread more!

Very.  We were tied with another team (creepy crawlies, maybe?) for last, but I think this one puts us one up on them.  Go team!

Important post count aside, I find team chatter helps motivate me to get out there and run. Reading about people meeting their goals and/or struggling to me their goals is inspiring.  You know?

As for me, I've got 4 miles to do this afternoon.  I'm still stiff from Sunday's run.  So, this should help stretch me out.

Alrighty Monsters....c'mon and get out there and get those miles in. I just got my registration card for the NYC Marathon!! It's my third NYC, but I'm getting all psyched up for it anyway. I'm on the blue route, which puts me on the upper level (more scenic!) of the Verrazano Bridge (that's at the start - one mile up, one mile down!) I'm doing my last long run this weekend.

So, who else is with me in putting in just a bit more than you usually do this weekend? You know, that time when you're feeling it can go either way - either stay in bed for a few more minutes, or get up and run. Or you come to a Y in the road and one way is longer than the other? So, this weekend - choose that longer path.

For you 80's rejects (of which I'm one), if you remember a band called The Hooters, they're coming out with a new album. I just heard a new song on the radio - "I'm Alive." All about being optimistic about life and appreciative of the little things. When you run this weekend - you are not allowed to think anything negative. Everything positive. Don't focus on what you're not doing, focus on all the things that you've already accomplished - all those miles that you've put in already and what an opportunity it is to be able to face more!

ok - end of my lecture! Now go run!

I'm going down to Tampa this weekend to visit some old college teammates, so we'll probably put in some extra miles for old time sake, which is good because I need to do some catching up!  Congrats on the NYC marathon reg.  You mentioned the blue course.  This may sound stupid, but...is the race so big that they have different courses for all the runners.  I never knew that.

5.6 more for me this morning! I agree with runnerx. I do this stuff to feel "Alive". I"ve decided to "participate" in life instead of just watching it go by. They asked a guy at the Denver marathon this weekend why so many people would show up in the cold and rain to run, and that is exactly what he said. It makes you feel alive.

My legs are sore, I'm tired from not enough sleep, but I know I wouldn't have it any other way.

Let's Go Monsters! Have a great week and a better weekend!

Oh yeah...the Verrazano Bridge is 2 levels. There are 3 routes - one goes on the lower level, and 2 go on the top. And because there are different exit ramps, they follow just slightly different routes for the first 8 miles, then merge together. Generally people prefer the top (pun intended) but simply because of the view. There's also the "yellow shower" effect - people peeing off the bridge, which supposedly the wind blows back into the lower level. I ran there once - didn't see anything like that.

Cool! You know that in a long run when the mind wanders all over the place, there will be a time that I'll be thinking of this challenge and I'll feel those vibes.

Yeah, I've got some catching up to do, but I'll be at 100% at the end, promise!

Quick update:  I'm traveling to Tampa this weekend, and although I fully expect to have an internet connection, there is a .01% chance that I won't.  SO.  If you don't hear from me this weekend or I'm not logging miles on my log, don't worry, I haven't abandoned.  I'll still need everyone to PM/Inspire/Post Here your total miles for the challange on Sunday, so I can get that to Cat when I get back.  THANKS!  Go Mashers!

Hey guys, just want to say thanks to all the people who have dropped me a line in my log, that does help!

I'm having some real solid weeks, probably some of the best all year, and I think it's mainly because I decided to do this challange and not race, since that kills my mileage.

Now if I can just keep on slowly increasing everything till 08 season starts, I should be in good shape.

I got 4.3 in today. I'm starting to do heart rate monitor training and learning where my zones are. This is totally different than what I did for the last 9 months. Frustrating, but I got some miles in today.

Let's go Monsters! We got snow coming our way!
