Week 2 update! So, we're now 61.29% through the month (almost two-thirds of the way there!) and the competition is hotting up! Central and East are running neck and neck as they fight for the lead, while West and International have some work to do. The standings are:

But we have 2 who has not logged anything since week 1 and 1 who has not logged at all, to me it sounds like they don’t want to be in the challenge !! I have dropped all 3 an inspire and will follow up with them to see what the situation is. They haven't logged much in their personal logs let alone on the spreadsheet. I've also asked D for guidance -- I know what I would do if another team approached me about this problem, but it's a bit tricky being the organiser (don't want to appear biased!). OK, so following D's wonderful advice (thanks hon!), I have now sent all 3 a PM (as well as the inspire from yesterday). If they haven't read and/or responded by the next update, I'll drop them from the team. It's no problem at all if life has taken over, but I do need to hear that directly from an individual rather than reading it in their log Anyway, enough talking -- time for training!! |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hello Team :) I am enjoying my week at home in Iceland and the weather has been really good as well so that is an extra bonus :) Will stay home until Monday next week so I plan to have a big exercise week while I am home and I started it off with nice long bike ride yesterday and swim training in the evening. Did a Sprint-Tri on Sunday and it was so much fun :) ended up 4th (like many times before) but I could not have run any faster so it was OK :) I hope you all have a great day :)

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I sincerely apologize to the team. I have to drop out of the challenge For those of you who know me, you know that I usually suck it up and honor my commitments This week a series of unexpected things coming from all sides (family, work, health) have forced me to back down from this challenge in order to salvage what is left. I wish everyone the best and thank everyone that sent inspires. I'll still be virtually with you and mind powering good vibes your way! Je suis sincèrement désolée (et frustrée de la vie!) Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hey Folks, I've been keeping a low profile on BT and logging my workouts for several days. As seems to be the case for most of us this month, life has been busy. Thanks to Joblin and Bondgirl for the inspires this week, they help....honest. Well I am back into logging and have stepped it up again after a quiet week of training. I had always planned to step it down for a week or so after my first tri, so don't worry if I seem a bit behind......I am on my way back as per my plan. Nice one Christree on the long ride......153 miles.......that just blows my mind....esp when I am sitting here with aching in my legs after only 15 miles this morning! And to everyone else.....let's keep going. We may be few in number but we can still make a good show of ourselves this month. I might drop in a couple of bricks next week.....or even a woodie!!!??? Hope everyone is having fun.....unfortunately I am having too much fun out in the nice weather we have been having here and not spending time online (which is fine by me.....I would much rather be outside!) and have been out of touch. Go out and enjoy.....but please remember to log!

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Finally work is done on the project and working until 2am ... I was so much fun i added a trip to the famous PISMO beach since i was 3-4 miles from it. Made it my first brick in training this month . Legs were really rubbery for about 3-4 minutes but then settled down nicely ... So i score on two counts with a brick and a big ride which puts me over my bike goal for the month . I know we are as not chatty as the other team but i have enjoyed reading everyones input . Good and BAd . Keep it coming ...
Go Team |

Go Team Only 3-4 minutes for your legs to settle down. Oh my, I can't wait for that. It seems like my legs will feel horrible forever. Good work on the ride. |

Considering how tired i was at the end of the bike ride I did settle down well on the run. Looking back It was windy overcast and cool so that helped a lot . Usually coming off the bike i heat up quickly and need water on my head to stay cool .

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hi everyone, I hope everyone had a great weekend I had an unexpected REST DAY on Saturday and I need to make up for it today before I get picked up at 2pm to fly to Germany. The Germany stay was not planned but it is my Grandmas 80th birthday and my sister decided to come from Chicago and bring her 4 kids and I just needed to use the chance and fly to see them as I don´t see them very often. I will be back Friday morning and I should make my swimming goal today and my bike goal Saturday. Not sure how it will go with running as I am giving my hip a break. Will have a short brick run today after the bike and see how the hip feels and if it hurts again I will need to rest if until the TRI on Sunday because I don´t want to risk anything. I wonder if I can add my walking miles to the challenge as running if I need to? GILL, have you gotten any repsonse on the PMs you sent? Have a great week everyone

I've not been nearly as chatty as I can be Like Kenny, I really appreciate the inspires (even though I haven't sent as many as I'd have liked) and I hope to be on challenge teams with the "international crew" again. One more week of training to go!! Good luck everyone (I'm off to work out the standings now...) |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() OK, so here's the situation with our team. Of the three AWOLs, two haven't logged on since the start of week 2 and haven't logged any training passed week 1. They've also not read the PMs I sent. One has logged on more recently and did read my PM, but hasn't logged any training since week 2 and hasn't replied to my PM. As a result I'm going to remove all of them from the international team. We've also had one (reluctant) withdrawal (see Chipit_muffin's message above). It's never easy to pull out of a challenge but family and life are always the priority. If you've got a spare minute, drop by Isabelle's logs and leave her an inspire. |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Joblin - 2008-05-26 10:27 AM I wonder if I can add my walking miles to the challenge as running if I need to? Hey guys, here's what I said to the US West team about walking: Also, does walking count toward running as it did last month? This really depends on what sort of walking you mean. Essentially it needs to be a "workout" to count. Of course the definition of a workout will differ for each individual, and only you can judge. So, if you'd do the walking as part of your training more or less regardless of this challenge then it counts. If you're trying to add up minutes of walking that you'd do anyway and not normally consider training, then they don't count. Some examples: walking to the bus stop (dressed for work, high heels and all) probably doesn't count; walking around the shops or down to a local coffee shop to meet friends probably doesn't count; walking with your children to school (and stopping while they examine some flowers) probably doesn't count. Power-walking as a recovery session or to rest a niggling injury probably does count. Power-walking because you're building up your fitness after a break probably does count. Does that make sense?? Sound fair?? Also, if you're injured, you can reduce your goal in any or all of the disciplines. Let me know if you need to do that. Take care and always train smart.

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Thanks GILL. I have PT orders to always do a warm-up and cooldown walk before my runs if I don´t bike before but I always count this as separate walking. The hip was lala today and let me see if I can get a run in in Germany or not and depending on that I might add some of the warm-up and cooldown walks. But I am over in the swim and probably go over in the bike so I will reach 100% anyways even I don´t make the running goal.

Great job this month, International Team! With those three non-participants dropped, you've moved into 2nd place, and you're not far from taking the lead. ![]() |

Hi , I was just going to add that you can go over 100% in the swim and bike and that would go a long way to cover your overall goal . Lets continue our upwards rise as I think we all aspire to better our position and win this thing ! Go Team !!
