Pro 4742 Sarasota FL | Subject: RE: JFord's Mentor Group-Closed So does everyone know what their first race of the season will be? I need to figure out my official race calender for the year. Florida is one of those states where you really only want to race January-April and then October-January. Summer just blows here, it's so effing hot. (Says the girl doing a mid-May HIM). I think that the HIM will actually be my first race of the season, but I'm toying with a Sprint in late April. How about everyone else? Whatcha got coming up? |

Champion 12759 Chicago | Subject: RE: JFord's Mentor Group-Closed NAME: NRG42 (say it out loud people......ENERGY for two) AKA Cheri STORY: I am 34 years old and live in the SW burbs of Chicago. I am a two year old triathlete who is competitive by nature and routinely pushing my body to the outter most limits. Long time team athlete (volleyball player in college), but have basically turned to SBR to keep me in shape and out of trouble. I have no clue what I am doing when it comes to triathlons but I continue to learn as I go along (mostly learned a lot of DONTs last year). I am truely thankful for the gift of SBR and feel proud, honored and truely content every time I cross the finishline of any race. (you'll even see a tear ) FAMILY STATUS: Recently divorced. Two boys who are 5 and 9. CURRENT TRAINING: Workout 5-6 times a week and balance. Wait for warmer weather to organize and finalize a plan for SBR. Winter months continue to run, spin, and swim in addition to xfit, hot yoga, and core training. 2010 RACES: TOO MANY for my first year out!!!!!! 3 sprints, 4 olympics, 5 1/2 marathons, bunch of 5Ks and 10Ks 2011 RACES: Not sure yet(some sprints, olympics and 1/2s). MAYBE an HIM??? MAYBE a full mary??? Money will drive the race schedule WEIGHTLOSS: 5'10 and 145 pounds and 16% BF. Huge improve from last Jan, still 5'10 but 159 and 28% BF. Want to race at 138 and 13% BF. WHAT WILL MAKE ME A GOOD Groupie: Not Sure? I learned a lot about nutrition and the value of it during 2010. I too look good in pigtails....so maybe I will cheer you on with Nicole? OH.....and YES I will definitely keep the group fun and even provide you with a laugh or two! Veteran 399 | Subject: RE: JFord's Mentor Group-Closed I did not throw up, but I am at home cleaning up after my 7 yr old daughter and her throwup. She is a good sport and we have had some laughs during it... I did get in a 20 miler on the trainer this am. My longest so far on that thing. I can't wait to start riding outside again. Was supposed to run with the high school track team, but need to stay with daughter. Hopefully I can get a run in later this evening. |

I like the pedaling and can see the benefits of it, but yeah, I can;t wait for warmer weather. For some reason, I always get a little nervous on my first long outside ride of the spring. It's like I forget how to ride or stop or something. It usually goes away pretyy fast, but I always found that weird. |

Expert 1480 Somewhere in the Swamps of Philly | Subject: RE: JFord's Mentor Group-Closed First tri will be the NJ Devilman on 5/7. Can race at either of these distances: Half Lite 50™: (0.80 Mile Swim~40.3 Mile Bike~8.8 Mile Run) or Sprint (0.4 Mile Swim~20.5 Mile Bike~4 Mile Run). This event rarely fills up so I can make the call in April. Leaning towards the longer distance in prep for my HIM on 6/12. Edited by JoePetto 2011-01-19 7:32 PM |

It's like I forget how to ride or stop or something. It usually goes away pretyy fast, but I always found that weird. Did an hour on the trainer this morning at 5 a.m. and it just sucked. Maybe it was a restless night of sleep or possibly it was the 1 x 1min, 1 x 2 min, 1 x 3 min (repeat 3x) sets just below LT that did me in. Sometimes I find the trainer a welcome change, but right now it is rough going and the prospect of several more months on the trainer is less than appealing. I do find the Spinervals/Sufferfest programs help the time go by more quickly than when I create my own sets. The other frustrating thing is that Santa brought me a sweet new ride for X-mas (P3 Ultegra) and I'm chomping at the bit to take her on the road. |

Veteran 399 | Subject: RE: JFord's Mentor Group-Closed Good swim this am. 2 1000 yard sets with the 2nd one faster than 1st. Still home on puke patrol. this gave me time to finish a good book - "CC Pyle's Amazing Foot Race" The story of a running race in 1928 of 200 guys that started in LA and finished in NYC - running everyday 30-60 miles. If those guys could do that, I know I will be able to work through any challenges of a one day race. |

I know this is cheesy, but I try to keep my chin up about the trainer. Yes, it's god awful and boring, but it is the absolute BEST way to get in a solid LT ride. Outside your stop signs, road conditions, hills, wind, etc can get in the way... inside you can just put your head down and ride. That, and I watch old episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer while riding and I have a huge girl crush on Sarah Michelle Geller, so that helps. Anyway, nice job sucking it up and getting it done even though you were bored blind. |

I tried to reply or comment or something, but I messed that up and now I can't find it. If you hit "reply" your screen will open a new window that shows you James' training log. There will also be a smaller window with the origional inspire that he posted and an opportunity for you to post a reply that he can see in his blog. It takes a bit of getting used to, but it's a nifty tool. |

Pro 4742 Sarasota FL | Subject: RE: JFord's Mentor Group-Closed James may have mentioned this already, but in case he hasn't... The group might find it useful to add the other participants to their "Friends" list. This makes it easy to access their logs directly from your log so you can post inspires, ask questions, or generally stalk them and make sure they're doing the training that they say they should. (Please stalk me, otherwise I will slack) Adding Friends is easy. From your Training Log you can see a box to the left that has a "Friends" title. There is a + sign to the right of that title. Click the + sign and type in the names of the people you would like added, then click the "Update" button at the bottom of the friends page. Any questions, just ask. I am totally technologically challenged and had to ask about a million times how to do things when I first came to the site. |

Elite 2634 in front of my computer duh! | Subject: RE: JFord's Mentor Group-Closed I think the fact that we do endurance event keeps us well out of the boring "normal" range. Went on a ride today. Of was short but a constant 13mph head wind with gusts up to 40 mph made for a challenging ride but it helped me to figure out where my position needs improvement. Now I am max about pulling the TT bars off my bike for the off season. I could have used them and my alien head helmet today. |

I was able to get in good 1200 yd swim this morning and then head off to the chiropractor. I am excited to see how my season goes after the strength gained from P90X and the chiropractic visits!
Anyone else go Chiro? |

Speaking of lost years, i did the first 20 out of 90 minutes P90x yoga. Holy H#ll! I''ll never snicker at yoga again. Me being as limber as a refrigerator really are not made for downward dog, warrior 1 and all them poses. These 20 minutes probably cost me a year or two. That stuff is HARD!
