I WANT to cut my hair, but I'm trying to grow it out so I can donate it...it's on my 101 list. As soon as it is long enough to donate, it's gone! |

First things first........how about we all come up with a goal that we would like to accomplish, say, in the next week or so ? Could be something as simple as drinking more water, or getting to the gym x number of times or whatever. Mine? To swim three times in the next week. I have not been great about getting into the water regularly. OK quit laughing...I KNOW my username is aqaugirl ! Kind of a joke. This week's goals are to get in a one-mile swim and put in at least 45 minutes on the bike trainer. |

Member 74![]() ![]() Pittsburgh | Subject: RE: Chaderbox and aquagirl's group ! CLOSEDPeachfor3 - 2011-01-17 8:31 PM Such a good point about peeing. I've settled on tri shorts for now and figure out the top later. Found a great deal on those later on today. I went to the gym today with a friend, nice and late in the morning, it was MLK after all, and my state-employed husband was home with the kids. My friend and I hop in and decide to share a lane to make it easy for anyone who comes in (we are beginners and it is easier to get in each others way!) So, we are warming up, and noticing the pool is getting very crowded....and the median age of those members coming in was like 68. We forgot to check the pool schedule and were coinciding with an "senior aqua fit" class. No big deal, or so we thought. With typical classes they leave the last lane up for lap swimmers, so we just moved to there and kept going. Bad idea. We got ganged up on by a whole crew of ladies, wanting us OUT of their way, their class is about to start after all! So, 15 minutes in and we were bullied out of the pool. I am planning on going back again tomorrow morning to get a real swim workout in. Such a funny experience. I had a somewhat similar experience two weeks ago when the pool I swim at closed two of the four lanes for a deep water aerobics class. Turns out that only two people showed up for the class. I had to share a lane with someone who was receiving a swim lesson at the time. It wasn't too bad except for the ocassional bouts of unexpected furious splashing. But since I'm no swimming expert I didn't complain. |

CLOSEDLadies and gentlemen, You will notice that after about a year and a half of not being able to walk for more then 12 minutes (with a knee brace), I have now logged my first official run into my training log. Walk/run program, with one minute walking, two minutes running, 12 times. Well, I was far enough from home that I did it 13 times. I've been walking the past few weeks, for an hour or more, but this is the first timed run. Off to ice my knee.... ![]() |

Member 50![]() ![]() | Subject: RE: Chaderbox and aquagirl's group ! CLOSEDI'm trying to convince myself that I should go to spinning tonight, but my legs seem to be telling me that I should give them a bit of a break from the bike since I went yesterday morning and will go again tomorrow morning. Sleeping through my alarm this morning and missing the 5:40 class might just be my bodies way of demanding a bit of rest. I'm going to try to get out for that 6 mile run this afternoon, though, and I've almost got my 1000 yards of swimming in, I'll finish that up tomorrow. I finally found the scale at my gym (in the rarely used locker rooms) and found that I am only 10 pounds away from my first weight goal. I've lost 35 pounds since I started running in June. Now I just need to decide what type of celebration to have (that doesn't involve food or alcohol) when I knock off that last 10! Edited by cbredderman 2011-01-20 8:43 AM |

Member 37![]() Greenville, SC | Subject: RE: Chaderbox and aquagirl's group ! CLOSEDHi guys....new member here. (I got permission from Chad and Aqua girl....Chad just wants me here in case he gets a speeding ticket on the swamp rabbit trail). Quick Bio: Started tri in 09. Did my first one and about a month later had a heart attack (dang genetics) at the ripe old age of 39. I had to take a year off and as started to train again dislocated four bones in my foot (freak work accident). Now the casts are off, the stents are holding, no heart damage and cardiac doc says to have at it. I'm a Deputy Sheriff in Chad's neck of the woods, a married father of three, and head up the operational side of our agency's dive/swiftwater/rope rescue team. My mile swim is down to about 33 minutes. My run sucks again after the foot injury. And since the MI ocured on a ride I am working my way back to the bike. (I know it's nuts - I'll hang on a rope off a cliff, dive zero viz for a body, and chase crack heads but the bike still haunts me.) That's the story...about to start logging some training. Looking forward to learning from our esteemed mentors and the rest of the group. Mike |
