SimplyStu - 2006-06-11 6:39 AM For those not in Wisconsin I'm doing an Ironman Wisconsin VIDEO route preview. The swim video section is up. Let me know what you think. www.simplystu.com The bike and run will follow. Stu

I put it on my iPod today.  Nice motivation.  I'm looking forward to the bike and run as well.  Thanks!

I did IM Wisconsin last year and had the great honor of being the last official finisher. With the heat, wind, and previous back injury I was so thankful to finish at all. I immediately signed up again and then went on to run two marathon in the next four months. Hello ITBS! Goodbye running. Uggh.

It has been a LONG SLOW road back from ITBS. I can finally run now for 30 minutes without stopping and I can be on my feet for 90 minutes without causing any pain. I'm super-slow, but I finally think my body is ready to handle IM training again. More importantly, I feel mentally ready which is just as important as the physical (maybe more).

So, I'm in again. Slow but sure is my motto. Don't do anything that might hurt the leg. Bike lots, swim lots, and practice a solid walk/run strategy.

I've enjoyed reading about everyone's training and hope that you are all doing well and staying healthy.

Happy training!

Starting to "ratchet up" the training preparing for Ironman Wisconsin.  I am enjoying knowing that I won't have to wait till November (when I did IMFL) to do my next Ironman.  I can hardly wait!!!

Great taper for my HIM next week...

Put my litespeed down on the pavement today...Luckily, the rain jacket and smooth, wet pavement kept me from requiring a skin graft!!! Though, I was very impressed that my new pedals released very quickly

I can't wait to see what my right leg looks like tomorrow

Onward...

As long as you and the bike are ok (generally speaking), that's a good thing.  Was it just a freak fall?

I had a tough bike this weekend.  I did a 45 mile roadie ride and then did a 2 hr hard interval workout directly afterwards.  I was fighting off a BONK for the last 5-6 miles.  Never good!  Gotta work on my nutrition.

12 more weeks!  Can you believe it?

Railroad Tracks...

I did everything right except for actually getting off my bike and walking over them. My back tire sliped out from under me just as I was about to clear the tracks.

Just went for a 16 mi spin. Felt pretty good...just don't know how the hip is going to hold up on runs.

12 weeks...Time flies!

Mike - glad to hear there wasn't any major damage to you or the bike.  I had some cars pull out in front of me yesterday that were too close for comfort for me - I'd hate to see anyone have to drop out at this point.

12 weeks out.  Kind of great and scary all at the same time.

It's the High Cliff HIM in Sherwood...

I'm on the fence about the race. I rode this morning w/ no pain or issues. However, walking is still not normal. Also, stairs are pretty difficult at this point. This is a B/C race on the Friel scale for me since I've already done a HIM this year. Mentally/Physically it does not provide me a real advantage to complete it, but could severely impact my training if I "suffer through to finish". I can transfer the reg to next year, but have to do it by Wednesday morning.

One of my training partners said I should pass on it. I was thinking about doing the swim/bike and bagging the run if things aren't feeling good, but I don't know...

May be a gametime decision

Hey Melissa and everyone here:

I've been lurking around and following everyone's progress. Want to congratulate you all on all the hard work so far. I've been putting a lot of time on the bike. Went on this crazy bike run of 20 something miles in the rain. Did a mini tri on Sunday. That was fun. heh.

Melissa: I saw from the results that you finish at 16:56. That's so awesome. I'm hoping to be around there, finishing. 16:59 or bust. This will be my first IM. Hopefully not the last and maybe the first of many.

This is a random shot in the dark- but anyone here from the New York area? I've been looking for open waters to swim in and can only really think of the beach/ocean.

Thanks. See ya all September!

Yeah, my IM training isn't scheduled to start for another two weeks according to my training plan. Suppose at some point I need to see to hotel and plane reservations- probably not til Aug though. Don't want to get ahead of myself.

2 halfs under your belt already?  You're training...it might not be focused completely on IMWI, but you've been training.

Marvarnett, I think it's time to post some ride ideas for your weekend out, right?!

I've got the bikes from July 1st until the 3rd.

Anyone want to ride the course this weekend?

Will have groups of various speeds.

I started an entire thread but nobody loved me!  Sad Dan...very Sad Dan. Cry

Here is the jist:

This is a semi-formal invitation to ride the IM MOO course on Sunday, July 2nd.

My friend James and I are flying up to do a true preview of the course.  We will be staying with AJFreddy because she is Kick A$$.  Here is the big picture.  We are going to get there on Saturday and will try and get in a swim and short bike that day and maybe the same thing on Monday.  The only thing that is concrete is the bike on Sunday.

Figure we can meet up at 8 in the Park where the start will be.  Since we all will be out of the water in under an hour, this will mimic race day as much as possible.  It's not going to be race pace or anything like that, but a nice group pace line would be nice.  The more the merrier!  Bring your firends and family.

And being the good Triathletes that we all are, we will be running directly afterwards too...maybe!  Best case, we can make it a 112/4 workout.

So...who's with me?

As much as I'd like to be there, I'll be heading south to the beach for the week.  I'll be interested in a detailed report of the course once your back though.

Unless you've got some secret connection for hotels, you may want to get on this. All the hotels near the race site are probably booked solid. You are probably going to have to stay at least 10 minutes from the site...

Plus it's a badger home game...
