JAngell - 2012-06-27 2:39 PM Agree with Courtney, most of the complaints came from the areas outside of The Woodlands on the bike course.  At this point - in my very very narrow view - everything appears to just be rumors though.  Personally, I hope it stays here in The Woodlands.

Me too. 30 minute drive home would be very appreciated! Or just swing by Carlton Woods and hit 18 while walking out the legs Wink

Shoot...I live in The Woodlands.  I've never done a IM but plan on IMTX being my first for a few reason: 1). I live here, 2). I train here, 3). I first got interested in triathlons by watching a friend race in IMTX 2011 so it's be cool do due the race on my home turf.

courtney_leone - 2012-06-27 11:58 AM I'm just angry because from I've heard the same rich, yuppie Woodlands comments from so many other online forums. It's simply not true. Sorry. It's my hometown and I love it there.

thanks for saying this. i guess you could say my family is a bunch of woodlands "yuppies" and i get tired of hearing it, too. all of our "yuppie" friends were very excited about the race this past year and many volunteered. i, for one, hope the race stays in the woodlands.

If it got moved to Dallas, there's no way I could turn it down.

Same here.  I have no interest in racing in the heat (and by that I mean anything over 80*) but if it was in Dallas, I'd have to do it.

TJ Fry's swim shop just posted the following on FB:  "Ironman Texas will be May 18th, 2013 in The Woodlands.  Stay tuned for registration date notices in about a week or so."

Hopefully this is all settled and registration opens soon. The Woodlands or Dallas doesn't matter to me in Austin. Just want to register for my first Ironman.

The 2013 Memorial Hermann IRONMAN Texas is scheduled for Saturday, May 18, 2013 in The Woodlands, Texas. Look for more registration details to follow.

While it is cheaper to register early some folks didn't sign up last year until 3 days prior so it's not a fast sell out, no hurry. Most folks aren't up for 90 degree torture for several hours.

Think you are confusing this with IMTX 70.3. The full IM sold out well in advance. With the exception of IM Foundation slots, which I had to purchase several months before the race in order to get in.

My wife is on the fence for signing up for IMTX, my guess is she has at least until the end September to decide before it gets close to selling out.  Anyone know when it sold out last year?  I know this year may be a little different with the delayed registration.

Thanks!

Sold out in 30 days for 2011. Sold out in four or five months for 2012. So who knows. It could be two hours.

@aggiegrad - Marriot still has rooms. The website says that it is booked, but if you call the hotel you can still get a room (I just did...)

There is a Hilton Garden Inn located in relatively close proximity to the water start, water exit and transition.  I provided the link below, it still has a few rooms.
