Whenever I pass the wind farms, I wonder how fast the tips of the blades are moving and how much fun it would be to hold on for a bit.

Depending on the type of turbine, it could be over 200 MPH at the tip.  21 revolutions per minute max, 100 meter radius, pi R Squared, you can get the answer if you calculate it out.  I did a spreadsheet once, but it's on an old computer that I don't have any more.

I knew there was some math to it, but that's totally not my cup of tea.  And yes, I think that would be fun...and a headrush.

Do you mean "This is Crazy,This is Crazy, This is Crazy..."?

Not that quote although a good one from a great movie.  This was the thought I had after hanging up the phone with someone...

Sorry about that, I meant 100 meter diameter.  Not 100 meter radius.

Considering they're on 80 meter towers, a 100 meter rotor radius would be digging a 20 meter trench all the way around the turbine...

Oh yeah, I just visited a wind farm not too long ago and that's almost exactly what they said (about 200 MPH for the Dutch turbine.

Someone asked, "If I stood on a cherry picker, do you think I would be able to grab the blade and hold on for a full revolution?"

Sighhhh.

Anyone else notice how when Teejaay disappears, TAN drops down the leaderboard?

We need a savior, Yanti, Meh, Kate, Lisa, cgregg, Kido, any regulars around to keep TAN alive?

The particular lyric I had there makes me mad.  I haven't been back to church in over a year.  I just didn't think it worked anymore.

There was a great piece on me....er...Johnny Football last night on ESPN. Keep showing those pics on national TV, people. Keep it up.

I may get more than free booze outta this one. Lets just hope they don't find him strung out on coke with a tranny hooker and a herion needle in his arm, in a back alley.....cuz that would be bad for me.
