Both my Scions have been Manual...it shouldn't be that uncommon/hard to find.

Things that come to mind first

Mini Cooper S (made by BMW and really a fun car)

Jeep (what I have and LOVE but not a car)...You should test drive one, they are really nice now and fun.

Prius...I had one awhile back for work and actually really liked it (if you knew me you would know it is not how I normally roll).

Are you opposed to a roof rack for your bike?  If not that could eliminate the criteria of a bike fitting in the trunk with seats down.  Something to think about.

 

I've seen several BMW 3 series coupes and sedans with a roof rack for the bike and it looks good.

Do you want it to be foreign designed or foreign manufactured.  Many foreign cars are manufactured in the US.

 

As far as fuel efficiency you American Cars are on par with foreign cars and longevity as well depending on the car.

 

My friend has a Lexus SUV and the thing is in the shop at least every other month and it costs $2500 each time it's there so I'm not sold on the marketing campaign that only foreign autos have longevity and reliability.

 

I have a Chevy Silverado with 100k miles and it's only been to the shop once for something that wasn't normal wear and tear.

If you get sport type editions cars you can get manual transmission sometimes. The Honda Civic Si is available with a manual and it looks pretty sporty as well.  Roof rack for your bike and you are in business.

My wife is car shopping right now too.

We have decided on the BMW 330CI Convertible. Most likely in the 02-05 range. I picked up a hitch mount bike rack and will install a hitch on the BMW at some point so we can take our bikes on summer trips.
