Subject: RE: kenail's Group - FULL Thanks! I took away three important lessons from that race:
1. It's all about the training. Coming off of knee surgery and a limited number of triathlons (none longer than sprint ), there was no way I was going to be able to bluff my way through this. It's truly a long haul. Thanks to the help of my coach, I went in well-trained. I was tired at the end, and I'm sore today, but I never felt I was in over my head.
2. Respect the distance. I think I did this pretty well -- keep the big picture in mind and don't get caught up too much in the moment. That'll help you make smart decisions, like when I held back on the run.
3. Bike more. As a long-term goal, I've got to get better on the bike. I was adequately trained for the race, but if I want to get better placements, the bike is the best place for me to lop off time. That's a long-term project. |
