Subject: RE: CubeFarmGopher's Group - ClosedSuzanneS - 2007-06-06 11:30 AM Back to the electrolyte thing. Why is it that I can drink Gatorade all day on the bike but when I run, the gatorade bloats me. But I can drink water with no problems. I'm guessing it's the sugar. But I can do clif shot bloks and water and I'm fine. Weird. I'm also the type to not hydrate enough. I took a cup of water and one gel during mile 4 of my half mary in Feb and that was it because it caused me to cramp. Ran the whole thing without anything else. Drinking too much of a diluted energy substance can cause me to bloat as well. That's why I like the concentrated structure of my current nutrition plan. The only time that I ever tend to hydrate enough is when I have an aero-bottle in front of me. Then, I can sip and sip and sip all day long. If I have to change position or reach for it, I tend not to drink enough. I have learned that setting myself with a specific interval to drink helps with the discipline. On my long rides, I found that taking a squirt of nutrition on the 10' mark is good for me. I get enough fluids, but don't feel like I'm bloated. |
