I found that brass instruments and cold weather never went together well. That may have been partially due to the fact that I was stuck out side in the stands playing for football games. Cold instruments make sour notes. I did not know that about you. Much impressed. French horn primarily I picked up trumpet for jazz band and baritone for the pep band. Anything brass is easy after the french horn. I didn't start until highschool and wasn't particularly good until my junior year. It is hard to learn an instument on your own, in a HS band, with no other F Horns, and a timid personality (it was at the time). The French horn part is almost always unique which makes it hard to follow along-I play much better by ear than by reading the music. My music reading skill have improved, but I am once again sorely out of practice. Maybe at some point I will get my horn tuned up (it has a few issues ) and I could start noodling a bit. |
