Put me on a team. I'll pledge 2300 yards for the month - enough to get me to 10K for the year. WTF not?

Yay! Scott is gonna SWIM. Hm, he even joined before the month officially started (in CA).

Well, the Folsom swim center is open daily from 11-1 for lap swim. I'll go up there next Friday and do the frickin' 2300 and be done with it. It'll take me about two hours as slow as I swim...

Um. But. *sigh* Somehow, I don't think that's how the Challenges are supposed to work...............

Well Hector is his team captain... maybe they can have a manly chat about the concept of a challenge...

ROTFLMAO!!!!!

I also got a pair of black Race Ready shorts with the pockets for gu, ID, etc. and a bright yellow Hind wicking shirt to wear under my black zip LS wicking shirt.

OMG. We're gonna be twins at the marathon.

spokes - are you trying some new clothing on race day? You HAVE run long in these clothes right? You know they dont chafe or rub or get uncomfortable....

These will be fine. I washed them already and I've had them on.

I don't chafe. Or get blisters. I'm weird that way.

Ive said my piece... now if they cause you any issues you are NOT allowed to complain about it :p

But seriously hon, its not smart....

They're more comfortable than the Nike shorts I have now. Don't worry, I'll rub some light baby oil or lotion on the package the morning of the race so I don't chafe.

I volunteer.

Dee - I have a better one from post-expo tonight.

My friend Nicole, who is one of the fastest women in the Sacto area, is running with a team called "Stupid Running Friends" (Bib #7604). I hung around the Expo until Nicole got down from the foothills with her children - her son Cameron is 5 and her daughter Annika turns 4 on Sunday. She's a redhead and her daughter has red hair and her son is WHITE blond.

Anyway, she's a Civil Engineer that owns her own consulting firm and she drives a Tacoma with jump seats the kids sit in. She's running the first leg of the relay Sunday and we stop at her friend Sarah's house, who is doing the 2nd leg, to drop off her stuff. They talk for a while and I'm sitting in the truck with the kids.

Now, they're REALLY, really shy, its quiet in the car, and won't talk to me. All of sudden, I hear this pretty loud little kid fart - its Cameron, who is behind me. There's a pause, and then Annika giggles:

Annika: "Cameron farted!"

Cameron: "I don't know who farted!"

Me: "I think I just heard a froggy."

Annika: "No you didn't Cameron farted."

More giggling.

Were they shy after that? 'Cause I think that may have broken the ice. LOL

Hey, I'm the font of discretion. You know ... it's too bad that one doesn't warm up for a marathon. Really.

You could always start a new tradition.

LOL ... the traditions are well set ... let me reiterate what Yanti biathlons, duathlons, triathlons are:

Biathlon: a guy either all night before or after the marathon.

Duathlon: a guy all night before AND after the marathon.

Triathlon: one guy all night before the marathon and another guy all night after.

Somehow I think this marathon will be different. But it's my second of the year, so I already did a biathlon on the first.

LOL, I forgot about the Yanti traditions! Haha

Yanti, you have NO idea how tempted I was to originally say "Ok, I'll do 50 yards".

And then get a blowup mattress and lay on it and float during open swim and have a picture taken.

Because it doesn't specify HOW you swim it.

Umm actually there are a few rules on what counts...

My senior year in high school, we went to a marching band competition, trapped, of course, on a Bluebird School Bus like we'll be taking on Saturday to the marathon start. You know, a rickety piece of 1940s technology with a noisy diesel engine and a suspension that makes a 20 year old mattress in a house of ill repute look attractive when its banging your spine through the top of your head on the freeway, and was put together by Hoosiers that can't read in Richmond, Indiana.

Anyway, the Des Moines School District had put 9th grade into the senior highs because of an enrollment dropoff with the end of the baby boom at that time, and there was this super de dooper hyper freshman girl that was obsessed with me but rode on another bus that was chaperoned by ... yes, you guessed it... my Dad.

Dad doesn't tolerate BS, and he doesn't like screaming 15 year old girls who won't sit down. He put on his best glare and really intimidated the poor thing (she was a sweet kid, just hyper). Anyway, we get to the competition - she's one of the flag girls - and she walks off the bus, sees me - and points at Dad, and says "He's a *MEAN* man!"

I just laughed and said "That's my Dad."

The look on her face was priceless LOL

So the moral of the story is that you've always had hot younger women chasing you.
