Seriously, now 3 inches of snow OVER the inch of ice already on the ground.

Spring cannot get here soon enough.

Looks like about 6 inches of fresh powder here in Frisco. Anyone know where you can get a set of cross country skis delivered same day?

What are your thoughts on speedsuits for the swim?

I'm a swimmer and the thought of wearing a tri suit for 2.4 miles and the drag that it creates really doesn't excite me.

I haven't done much research on speedsuits, but I think that the savings in drag (maybe not time but definitely energy) would be worth it.

Any good ones around $200 that you could recommend?

I have no experience with speedsuits and my default plan is to just swim in my tri shorts then throw a top on in T1. Less than ideal but I'm not crazy about shelling out $200+ on something I'll likely only need once.

You could also go old school and just swim in a regular old speedo. Still not as "fast" as a speedsuit but better than tri shorts probably.

It'll be a 12 - 13 hour day for me so an extra few minutes here or there isn't a big deal.

Anyone else have an opinion on this?

found this, since I was curious myself how well the newer skinsuits worked:

Whether or not that's worth $200 to you is a personal decision...

Workouts are ramping up.  How did my fellow DFW peeps handle today's long workout?

For me it was 3:20 on the trainer.  To be honest, it was not bad at all.  Watching Netflix helped tremendously!

Marci- looks like you're feeling better. 3+ on the trainer is awesome!

My workouts are finally starting to come back together again. It still feels like the race is coming up quicker than I would like. I keep asking myself why I signed up for an early season IM.

Really debating what to do today.  My heart wants to run outside and get some fresh air.  But my head is saying that although the sidewalks look clear, in shady spots there could still be some ice and slush.  I really do not need another broken leg.

Only 1:40 run so I could break it up inside and do an hour on the track and 40 on the treadmill.  Did that a few weeks ago and it was not too bad.

I got outside to run, I drove where I was going to run first, just to see how wet is was going to be.

Even though I got out for 2hr walks on the snow days, I really needed to run outside today

Being a girl, I can't go topless (I suppose I could wear a sports bra and tri shorts, though).  Also considered the Speedo route, but honestly, think of how much time you'd lose in T1 wrestling out of your wet speedo and into tri clothes.

I'm going to finish probably at 15 hours, so I'm not looking for a speed boost, necessarily.  What I am interested in is minimizing fatigue and not wasting unnecessary time in transition.  That's why I thought a speedsuit would be nice.  Low drag and I can wear my cycling gear underneath so I won't have to mess changing in T1.

Rode the top half of the course today from 105 and 149 back around to 149, 65 miles total.  Started out a bit cold - 28 degrees at 8:30, but sun was up by 10:30 we were shedding clothes.  This is the first time I rode a portion of the course this year and it was a my wake up call, I was not ready for roller after roller the whole way!  Everytime I crested a hill it seemed like the next one was bigger.  Hopefuly next time I ride it it will not seem like more asscending than descending.

I saw a group at the store in Richards, was that Ya'll?  I was riding solo on a white q-roo.  It was so nice and the only bikes I saw was at the richards store and a few roadies coming up from Dobbin.  Last week I wanted to add some miles so I rode on into Anderson-  those are some hills as compared to around here.

May have been - there were only 2 of us, I was on a black Trek and my buddy on a black felt.  When we were in Richards we stopped and then one bike pulled up (may have been you) and then a guy and a girl.  We took off then the solo guy hammered past us later, may have been you again!  Yes it was really nice out with the sun and no wind after we warmed up the weather was great. I think the freezing temps in the am kept most in today.

If you saw people with white/red Shama kit on it was a group of us riding the whole course.
Once you cross over 105 be careful. The road and traffic are not cyclist friendly and I believe it can only get worse as the weather improves.
Also the map on the web site is not the best either. Hopefully all the turns will be well marked. Hills are your friend, keep repeating.

I rode the part of the course north of 105 this afternoon. It was crazy windy. And I'd forgotten how bad the roads were in Grimes county. That was the first time I'd ridden that stretch on my tri bike. Not fun. Looks like I'll be doing more rides up there to get ready.

Yep - we actually were later than your group but ended up riding a bit with your last guy and kept leap frogging with your sag team - great job out there on supporting your team doing the whole 112, you all are way ahead of our schedule!  Keep it up!

Also as a side note we started at 149 and 105 and at the end in order to get back to 105/149 we headed up 149 which is not part of the course (from Jackson Road), I would not recommend riding the south portion of 149 that is not part of the course, partial shoulder covered in wet tar and the rest has no shoulder and traffic speed limit is 60, not fun.  was glad to get off that road alive.

Are you talking about the part of 149 that goes from Jackson RD to Montgomery? I'm trying to map out a route along the top half starting in Montgomery and I'm debating taking 149 from Jackson RD, or taking 105 from Dobbin to Montgomery. I'm not familiar with 105 east of Plantersville, but if it's anything like the section of 105 between Navasota and Plantersville, I'm nervous to ride on it.
