Left Brain - 2013-01-03 11:35 PM #116....3.3 miles....the next few days will be a challenge...trying to figure it out as 2 kids are in swim meets 15 miles apart the next 3 days and swimming different sessions. It is, however, a great problem to have!
Left Brain, first of all congrats on getting over PF and congrats on the huge streak you are in the midst of!!!
Question, with your history, what kind of warm up and cool down to you do prior to each of your runs. I think your longest run is around 3 miles, do you walk for x amount of minutes before and after?
thanks.

Thanks!
My long run is now 8 miles. My minimum is 3.3 for the last 3 weeks or so. Last month I hit 120 miles and will probably stay there for this month as well....maybe a bit more.
I don't warm up at all, other than a very easy first .5 mile.....then again, most runs stay in the very easy range. I spend nearly 1/2 hour after each run working on stretching my calves. Nothing new under the sun, just the usual toes raises, stand on a step and lower my heel, etc. The other thing I do is wear orthotics with a big arch support, but only when I'm NOT running. When I started I wore them all day, now only for about 2 hours after I run. I can tell the PF is still lurking, but I've learned to manage it with very little pain.
I run slow almost always.....about 9:20-10:00 miles. But every couple of weeks I take the brakes off just a bit. Today I did 5 in 44:46...so under 9:00/mile.
I hope that helps. The other thing I have learned with running every day is that my legs "pick up" very easily....I don't have those little niggles the first mile or so like I always had when I was running every other day or so. My legs jump right into the run.
Today is #117.....never even considered I would still be at the streak....now it's just something I do every day.
