Left Brain - you were wrong in your 1:39 prediction for my 1/2 yesterday.  I ran 1:36:55 !!!

Was the race of my life.  Was mostly rested up - carbed up - revved up and timed my "moves" perfectly. Finished 3rd in my Age Group and 12 overall.

I finished strong - couldn't possibly have run any faster.  Great end to 2012, can't wait to see what 2013 brings.

Great job Muskrat, you really smoked your pr and sounds like a great race overall. You going to start a running streak again or just continue on training the way you have been getting ready for this half? Again great job on your half.

Day 405 and even though my legs feel like lead is in them it is time to suck it up butter cup, they'll feel worse at the end of the 50 miler in just over three weeks so it was out for a cold, windy, snowy 25 miles today.

I have been thinking about another streak, but I'm about to add in cycling / swimming, so not sure.  I will probably stick with 5 days per week running - 2 of them will be "bricks" as I'm adding in the bike again next week (trainer)..the other 3 days will be pure running days and include my LSD...I will then use the 2 "off" days (Tuesday & Saturday) for swimming.  Time to start thinking about my Ironman Training again.

Day 406 and 5 easy miles on the treadmill this morning, it is a little slick out to risk a fall for only 5 miles. It is days like this that I am glad I have the treadmill in the garage.

That's BIG!!!  Nice work!

I'm in the same boat as you.....adding swim/bike this week....I think I'll try to keep the streak going.  I'm not too worried about the swim or the bike for my IM training. I'll get the miles in.....but I'm really happy with how my body has responded to every day running....I think I'm less prone to running injuries by running every day vs. getting the miles in by running longer on my "run days".

Been a while since I've been in here, since I'm not streaking at the moment, but I wanted to stop in and say congratulations to Muskrat for the amazing 1/2!

#115...4 miles on the treadmill with six .10 mile pickups in the middle....fastest at 6:40 pace.

Then I swam 800M.....first swim in 10 weeks.  I could learn to hate triathlon.

#8. Still hacking up crap from my bout with bronchitis (I feel guilty coughing like that in front of peoples' houses at 5 am), but it was a fast 2 miles this morning. I felt really good, but didn't realize how good until the runkeeper lady told me.

The dog still thinks I'm slow. Fast for me remains a racewalk for her.

There are two kinds of people: those who pee in the pool, and those who lie about peeing in the pool.

#116....3.3 miles....the next few days will be a challenge...trying to figure it out as 2 kids are in swim meets 15 miles apart the next 3 days and swimming different sessions.  It is, however, a great problem to have!

Left Brain, first of all congrats on getting over PF and congrats on the huge streak you are in the midst of!!!

Question, with your history, what kind of warm up and cool down to you do prior to each of your runs.  I think your longest run is around 3 miles, do you walk for x amount of minutes before and after?

thanks.

Day 408 and a moderately paced 5 mile run. I have not done a lot of speedwork this training cycle becaue I ramped my weekly miles up so much. It was nice to do this run to know I have not lost anything or much with the lack of speedwork.

Thanks!

My long run is now 8 miles.  My minimum is 3.3 for the last 3 weeks or so.  Last month I hit 120 miles and will probably stay there for this month as well....maybe a bit more.

I don't warm up at all, other than a very easy first .5 mile.....then again, most runs stay in the very easy range.  I spend nearly 1/2 hour after each run working on stretching my calves.  Nothing new under the sun, just the usual toes raises, stand on a step and lower my heel, etc.  The other thing I do is wear orthotics with a big arch support, but only when I'm NOT running.  When I started I wore them all day, now only for about 2 hours after I run.  I can tell the PF is still lurking, but I've learned to manage it with very little pain.

I run slow almost always.....about 9:20-10:00 miles.  But every couple of weeks I take the brakes off just a bit.  Today I did 5 in 44:46...so under 9:00/mile.

I hope that helps.  The other thing I have learned with running every day is that my legs "pick up" very easily....I don't have those little niggles the first mile or so like I always had when I was running every other day or so.  My legs jump right into the run.

Today is #117.....never even considered I would still be at the streak....now it's just something I do every day.

Day 409 with a frosty 30 mile run in 4 hours and 35 minutes. Feeling pretty good today. It is my last training run over 25 miles before the 50 miler. I start the taper next week, the race is three weeks from today.
