I am finishing up tomorrow. Technically, I've already hit my goal. Now it's just overage for Terri, though I think we already have enough to cover her.

Awesome! I really hope that everyone else hits 100% tomorrow - since I did the spreadsheet on Monday, a few others have already made it!! Terri is the only one who feasibly won't make it tomorrow, unless she goes out and kills herself running 12 miles, which we don't want her to do, as admirable as that might be  Nonetheless, I am fully confident that she will knock out a formidable chunk and the overages pledged by the rest of us can fill in the gaps.

Hey kids!

This challenge has been super-nostalgic for me ... a memorable reunion with former team members and such delight getting to know everyone else. Everybody, it seems, is leaving this team (sniff, sniff) better than when they joined. THANK YOU and CONGRATULATIONS!

There are special thanks due to each member of this team--my words are few and won't do your kindess to me, and to the team, justice, but nevertheless--

Antti Thank you for your sweet and funny inspires last challenge and this one ... and for broadening my horizons by posting neat stuff about Bahrain in your blog.

Melissa You are just cheer embodied. Your emoticons cheered me up every day, your cheerful inspires made those hard workout days easier, and your constant humor in the posts made me laugh.

Beth You are one smart, sassy, sexy lady! Couldn't think of anyone better to have my first e-foursome with (LOL LOL LOL LOL 'cause we can say it here). Your persistence and comeback from your foot injury inspired us all.

Ross You've made me cry TWICE this challenge, sir ... once about the fawn on a three-day bender, but also from sympathetic pride because of your determination! And the other from one of the most memorable PMs I've ever gotten.

Terri You are much further along than you think on the same journey I undertook, it seems, nearly yesterday! For having started, and now persisting under such difficult circumstances--my deepest respect to you.

Susan The fact that you're so busy and train hard made each of your posts and inspires all the more precious. You were the first to post a PR and that inspired me to go for mine.

Travis Our very own homegrown hottie. You, too, have persisted in this challenge despite some great sadness--your sharing it, and continuing to train, sets a beautiful example for me and us all.

Paul Though didn't find each other at SM, I was thinking of you that day, and I am sure your energy sped my PR along, too. I love that you are an extraordinary athlete in so many sports--there is, indeed, more out there than triathlon.

Judi You've been a heart and soul of my inspiration since TdF, and you shine and work and always inspire others no matter your personal difficulties--perhaps because of them. I owe so much of the best of my training to thoughts from you!

Chrissy O Fearless Leader--a sparkly pillar of strength and energy whatever team you're on! Never mind wanting to be like you when I was "your age"--I want to be like you NOW! Thank you for number-crunching, endless amusement, enthusiasm, and for being the foremost of a team that you helped make phenomenal.

Gail The most selfless contributor of all--believe me, your miles counted just as much as any of ours. We really needed you! Your unrepentant positivity--and converting us to the same--gave a WHOLE different tone to this team than any other I've been on.

***While this is news I want everyone to know, it was Gail's challenge that pulled me out of e-consorting into the real world, where lovely boys lurked behind every tree (sometimes naked!) and I couldn't pull my head far enough out of my computer / water / pavement / handlebars / azz to see them. This explains some of the--ahem--busyness. But I have developed a special fondness for one whom I've seen several times now, and I adore him, and apparently he adores me. I had given up on short skinny white nerdy (yet athletic) guys in L.A., and wouldn't you know it ... ***

And now, for the honorary members of Team Bumper ...

Cat Biggest kudos to the lady who really is behind it all (and in front, and holding it up, and everywhere, and, and, and)! You have taken your own setbacks and risen beyond them to create unbelievable magic and improvement in people's lives. I believe you are the single greatest contributor to BT.

Dee You are a hoot and a half ... it's been great getting to know you here and THERE, too. You will also find that, inasmuch as you cheered and helped us along in this challenge, you will get to watch lives change in November and know that you are the reason it began.

Scout (who?) 'Watching' you run and what you've done especially for spokes but also the rest of the enemy camp we find so irresistible ... has been a privilege. Thank you for your time, words, and everything else.

Spokes My darling, gorgeous, fantastic hero ... now how many threads (and other select media) have we gotten all gooey with each other in? You have not once failed to be there for me, ever, and my life--in friendship, love, and athletics--is so much richer for your presence in it. And you are, truly, an astonishing runner, with a tremendous will and the physique to show for it.

WILL THE REAL LEGS OF THE CHALLENGE'S HOTTEST TRI P()RN PLEASE STAND UP?

I'm finished!! CONGRATS to everyone on my super-awesome team (although if you haven't finished yet, you still have tonight to do so)!!!!! It's been really awesome to see people (including myself) really push their boundaries and actually stick with it! That's why BT is so great - everyone is super-supportive of one another which definitely helps when you get up at 5 am and you're exhausted and it's cold or you don't feel good or you feel fat or any number of things that would keep the average person in bed. Everyone here has done a FABULOUS job!!! Congrats!!!

I got in 1 more mile yesterday. That puts me at 24.3 total which gives me an extra 4.3 if needed to help the team members affected by the fires.

Tonight I’ll do my last run as a Bumper.

It’s taken me forever to decide on what to say on our final day together as a team. I don’t want to come across as all mushy but I honestly don’t think I would have had it in me to persist if it hadn’t been from the support I’ve received from all of you. Being part of this challenge has truly made me feel part of a community that I do not want to ever let go of. Before, I was just someone who had delusions of being able to run. I now believe that I will eventually get there if I just keep putting one foot in front of the other. While all journeys start with a single step, the end of my journey to become a triathlete is much closer because of the hundreds of steps I’ve taken with you. While I personally failed to attain my goal, I know I am a winner because I didn’t give up like I would have in the past, and that my new friends is because of all of your motivation, inspiration and support.

I am excited that today is the last day of our challenge because tomorrow starts a new one and I know I’ll be challenged as never before, just as I was in October 2007.

Way to go to sign up for November! And you didn't seriously think we could do without your inspiring example, did you? Rumor has it there's a Bumper crop in the November challenge, too ...

I am sure I speak for us all when I say you went above and beyond your goals. Maybe not in numbers, but in spirit and effort where it counts the most.

Finally ... YOU ARE A GREAT RUNNER. You run; therefore, you're a runner: you are running more than ever before, which makes you great.

Seriously, I know exactly what you mean, Terri. Just knowing the Bumpers (and you and T.) were here cheering me on got me out on more days than I care to admit. But hey, at least it got me out there.

I came into this challenge with a lot of trepidation. Beth even sent me a PM congratulating me on stepping outside of my comfort zone. She knows me too well already apparently. LOL I had such a wonderful experience with this challenge that I didn't even think twice about signing up for November. Of course, I hear rumors that December will be a swimmy challenge. Y'all may have to work on me for that one.

OMG, I had a sneaking suspicion they were yours. Since I've seen so much of you, mind if I call you Scott? Calling you "ooo baby" might hurt my husband's feelings

Yanti, I very much look forward to playing with you in November

Hey, gang, great work to all of you!  I hope you all continue to believe you ARE a runner and especially that you all continue to refrain from smack-talking yourselves (no more "I am not an x," "I hate y," "I am slow," "I am fat," "I am bad (for eating, resting, whatever)," and other negative thoughts.  The world is full of people who will criticize you; don't do it to yourself.

Remember, too, that you're all multisport athletes.  To that end, and to appease the girls, the boys, and Spokes who knows that the LATri athletes are the best in the world, I offer the attached inspirational photo as a final memento (so they're not naked; you get the point).
