The FIRST thing that would probably come to my mind if a police officer came to the door asking for one of my kids would be ANGER.  I can only imagine what was going through your head when you first saw the officer at the door...

at first it was confusion, i had no idea why she was there - then, when she was saying things about him acting suspiciously and avoiding her 'all the way home', I started wondering if he had been drinking and driving (to my knowledge he hasn't done that, but I'm also not an idiot) - so then i was mad, but still confused

i also really was having a hard time believing what she was saying - the whole thing was bizarre

my emotions just ran the gammit!

I'm glad your kids are o.k.  I guess we sometimes get too comfortable living out here in the 'suburbs.'  We did have an incident here a few months ago where a guy tried to lure a young girls into his car.  She had the smarts to run.

That's scary - good thing she was smart!  Wow

I think that was what made the whole situation even more strange - it's a very nice area of town and we're not exactly used to seeing the cops patroling the area

we've had several break in's in the area over the past month or so - my daughter's car among them - so the police have been around more, i suspect someone reported the group of kids that my son was trying to avoid

apparently they have been entering homes through the back door, so when my son walked into the back of the house and entered through the back door, they thought he was breaking into the house

This is a fairly safe neighborhood as well, but we get different problems.  There are a few 'wealthy' neighborhoods around here, and we have some teens who end up with 'boredom' issues, so they do stupid things like vandalism or drug use for kicks and excitement...

Well, I guess we can't 'blame' her if she's 'travelling'...

Oh...I forgot...didn't Kendra have a race this weekend too?  I guess the guys have to deliver too...

True - lol

I promise to come up with something motivational ;-)

I'm pretty sure Kendra's race is Dec 2

yep - just checked

of course I'm sure she would appreciate some pre-race motivation

I like 'motivational'

;-)

sparco - 2007-11-23 12:52 AM Boy, you know how to put on a party.  16 for dinner and 25 for dessert!  All family?

LOL - yep!  all family

I enjoy entertaining

some of my friends call me 'party in a box' cuz, whenever people come to my house, i have a knack for throwing together a party in an instant (or so it seems to them)

I guess we go in phases.  We usually prep for big events, but most of the time we just enjoy having friends over to chat.  You must have some creative flair if you can entertain on a moment's notice...

I think I inherited it from my mom - I honestly don't even think of it as entertaining or throwing a party when it's an impromptu thing - but my friends have commented on that more than once

I guess I do have a bit of a flair (for something anyway) - LOLOL

Don't you think it's a bit funny that we're using the secret code font?  Like anyone has anything better to do at this time of night to read the 'nibbins thread...ha!

I'm sure we have that as well, although that seems to be a bigger problem in the west area of the city with the newer developments -

we have a park right across the street, so for the most part when the kids get bored, they just go up there

zipp1 - 2007-11-23 1:53 PM Oh Cat....when will the details of the swim challenge start to leak? I have to figur out how to set up the goals with my coach this week...Making it through the set without an argument is still high on the list followed by some technique stuff, don't know if he's throwing in a total yardage for the month or a time to beat in a distance is in there yet either

haha I have already started to leak them... but basically it will be the same as the run challenge... based on either tiime or distance...

Donto - where are yuo? is this ok with you?

Hi Cat!

Hi!!!... and... BYE!!! Ive got to LEAVE NOW for the dentist... Im terrified!!!!

You'll do fine :-)

Maybe it will be a cute dentist ;-)

Female dentist... but she was great! I was so scared that I was trembling while waiting in the waiting room....

then when I was in the chair the whole thing was shaking... there were tears and nervous giggles... BUT she numbed me up... then had a look around etc then offered me MORE anaesthetic before she started drilling!!!!

2 hours later... half of my face is still frozen

My goodness, the cost of housing was way inexpensive compared to Minneapolis.  We would have gained about a 1000 sq ft of space for less than the cost of our house here.  The only thing we worried about was potential flooding, and the 'new' school system...

Yes, the cost of living is way more affordable here in Omaha - that's one of my concerns about my potential opportunity

Papillion has developed into a well respected school system - I live in the public school system, but my kids go to private school

Alas, I am alone. We had a wonderful day. Cindy and I ran a 5K with good friends. I ran the 5K in 23:04 (7:26 min/mile)...um...is that pic worthy? (I recall vaguely some discussion about reward pics)...spent the majority of the morning cooking the turkey (I really need to learn how to fry a turkey...3 1/2 hours for a 20 lb turkey in a roasting bag still seems a like a long time, but I was a good host and made sure the turkey was cooked, meat thermometer and all)...had good friends over...boy oh boy, they brought over apple pie and chocolate mint bars and cheesecake. It was too much. We played games like Farkel and spoons. I haven't laughed that much in a long time...oh, except of course here in Twisnibbins. Speaking of which, I'm gonna miss this thread. One more week, the Twisnibbins reach their goals, and POOF! On to the swim challenge. Of course that way I will actually have time to 'inspire' other folks here on BT. I've been bad lately.

We called family after our friends left, and then I took a 'nap' (9pm to 11:30pm) while the rest of my family watched 'The Incredibles.' Hence, here I am...AWAKE and blogging on Twisnibbins. Apparently I'm here alone, but that's O.K., I like my quiet time...(I think I'm going to go copy this into my blog ...

I love the Incredibles - although I have to admit that I've 'napped' as well - last night I napped during the last part of 'Pirates of the Carribean'

Awesome job on your run!!! seems to me like that is pic worthy!

Heh. My wife is a BIG Orlando Bloom fan. Cheesecake after 'Pirates.'. Enough said.

So, has Dee promised anything for you on the pic front...

I'm more of a Johnny Depp fan ;-)

LMAO - no, she is definitely slacking in the area of promising on Beth's behalf

i guess that means you get to pick or I need to come up with an idea

Dont forget my apron idea!!!!

So...we wouldn't have made a 'bad' decision if we moved to that area...

Yeah, most of the ConAgra employees lived on the westside.  I didn't really want to be that close to all my co-workers...hee...
