again, I'm lucky in the pool department - almost all the gyms around here have pools and I belong to 24 hr and have the open access, so I can go to one of 4 locations in the city

I mostly go between two

in the brand new one (which is closest to my house) they only put in a 2 lane pool - how dumb is that? It's the largest facility, with the smallest pool

A TWO LANE POOL?

You're right. That is dumb. They paid all that money to put the thing in. You'd think they'd go with a 6 lane one....

A 24 hr gym? Hahaha, I'm trying to picture that around here. Nope, I can't.

kaqphin - 2007-12-08 10:54 PM Yes - there are a lot of pools in Sydney.... I think the one a LC is about 26 degrees... bearable, the one at the uni (the indoor one) I think I saw at about 29 degrees

I also have access to an outdoor pool near the harbour (a bit of a drive), the LC outdoor pool (not heated) in summer only, the Uni outdoor pool and the Epping Pool which is also outdoors.

You just pay a fee to use the pool each time you turn up so... I guess its up to you how often you want to go...

Thats the pools within access to home... well driving distance thats not ridiculous...

Go for the university one.... More guys to, um, "inspire" you.

Got it in one... although still not much talent But the facility is almost brand new so it is a lot nicer! And the closest pool to home!

CARP! did you hear my scream as I submerged my stinkin' foot into an ice bath?

yikes, yikes, yikes!

Yeah, see. This is why I don't do it. Ice = cold = not gonna happen. I'd be perfectly willing to apply a heat pack though. LOL

LOL

probably not the right thing to do to reduce inflammation

This is the only pool within about an hour's drive (one-way). (Have I mentioned lately that I need to move?) On the plus side, not many people want to brave the salty, slimy water. So I usually get a lane to myself. Or, if I wait 10 min, I get one then. Swimming isn't a big activity around here.

Thats a bonus... whever I get a lane to myself (very very rare) I treasure the moment... so special and all...

D001 - 2007-12-09 3:07 PM Hm. Should I sign up for the mentor program (as a mentee)... Or just hang out in the Challenge forum? So many decisions. (And starting in January, much less free time, too....) Of course, I could always just take comeandgetit out, and worry about that other stuff later. LOL

hehe if I volunteer to be a mentor you could come play with me... then again that might not work...

I couldn't believe it when I went there the first time - I was so psyched because it's super close to my house, right on the bike trail, and brand new

I was soooo disappointed when I saw the pool.  It was orignially supposed to have been a 6 lane - i wonder what the h3ll happened

I swam there once!   bad experience, I still have a scar

I just realized that I am finishing up my 4th consecutive week with no running or cycling - my foot is marginally better - at least it's not swelling up quite as much

I sure hope it's 100% by the end of the month - If I want to do the entire distance at the HyVee tri in June, I have got to get running again

Hey 'nibbins!!!  Just checking in before beddy bye time...

Beth, I think Noz does that tri every spring.  He doesn't post his schedule, but I'm pretty sure it's part of his race calendar...

Well, lot's of crash and burn right now.  They brought me into the project in kind of a 'MacGyver' role.  Hopefully when a lot of the criticals get fixed before the holidays and the beginning of the New Year, I can come back here and work on my post count visit more often...

Well, lot's of crash and burn right now.  They brought me into the project in kind of a 'MacGyver' role.  Hopefully when a lot of the criticals get fixed before the holidays and the beginning of the New Year, I can come back here and work on my post count visit more often...

I'm sure you will get it under control!  Sounds like they brought in the right man for the job   We'll be keeping our fingers crossed, we know how important padding your post count, connecting with your BT friends is!
