I had a hard time getting around slower swimmers a bunch of times in the first stretch. I would look up, find a way around, but inevitably, someone going slower in front of me also found that way to go! was planning on getting the bouy line around the turn buoy, but ended up getting there much quicker - like about half way. I got way off course on the long leg back and had a lot a clear water, but no one to draft off and probably added 100-200 metres to my swim. I have a problem when the sun is out, I always want to "swim towards the light" in the water. I also couldn't see the buoys very well. After doing that for about 10-15 minutes, finally realized that if I kept the light between 1 and 2 o'clock in my field of vision, i wouldn't be too far off course. |

OMG yes, this is exactly what I did. I had a great swim...standard stuff, got my goggles kicked off (I'm a believer in wearing them under the cap now!!!), got beat up a little at the start, but never panicked. My biggest problem was the occasional "sheepdog swimmer"...either someone swimming faster or slower than me, but going off course (I really sighted well during this swim...I know I was going the right way) and pushing me with them! Happened a LOT! |

If you add a picture to your cart, it'll then give you the options of what size, quantity, etc. That's where you can purchase the video clips. $20 for the download, but it doesn't look like you can preview it before you buy it. |

Member 215 | Subject: RE: Ironman Wisconsin : Official Thread Did anyone purchase one of the black kswiss finishers jackets and wish they had a large instead of an XL? My wife got me a large and while it fits ok I think an XL would fit me better. If anyone wants to do a size swap we could just each pay for shipping to the others address and call it good. Mo |

Master 1967 | Subject: RE: Ironman Wisconsin : Official Thread WI_tri_guy - 2012-09-11 6:42 PM So who else HATED the new swim course? I had a much harder time getting free from traffic and I think it actually slowed my swim time down.... Outside of that, it was a great race! I'm trying to decide if #3 will be IMWI again or if I should try someplace new. I was amazed to find so much more contact on a single loop course than on a double. I assumed the fast/agressive swimmers would get out in front and I would find space quicker in a single loop. For some reason I had contact the entire way. In some spots it was a complete blender. I thought I was going to love the single loop, in the end I think I might prefer the double. I just don't know if all the contact was a product of the course change or something else. |

I'm a MOP swimmer and got clobbered numerous times. I guess it just goes with the territory. |

Regular 247 Waterloo | Subject: RE: Ironman Wisconsin : Official Thread Man I must have been in a different race or something, I had a very clean swim. I started about 15 yards off the buoy line and 5 yards off the start line and I only got hit maybe 10-15 times total, and only one or two of them were bad. There seemed to be a big hole there with very few people in front or behind me. I must have just gotten lucky |

I'm the tall, skinny guy with glasses wearing an IM '07 Finisher cap. Please rest well, and have a great race! I don't wish for anyone needing me to pick them up in the bike SAG wagon. I'll be a Run Marshal, too, behind the Kohl Center, just past the little bridge on the way up the bike/ped path (mile 2.25 or so) from 4 - 8 pm. Shoot, I thought that was you. Was going to stop and introduce myself but my second time through you were running off to get medical help for the guy that collapsed at the top of the hill. Do you know if he got pulled out of the race? He looked like he was in a bad place. |

There seemed to be a big hole there with very few people in front or behind me. I must have just gotten lucky I think my problem was my start spot. Last two years at IMWI I started wide right. This year I started just right of the ski jump, about 3rd person back. It was definitely more dense waiting for the start. I was getting inadvertently (I think!) hit/kicked for 10 minutes before the gun went off. Didn't have clean swimming until after the first turn, by which point I had worked myself inside the buoy line. If I were doing IMWI again next year, I'd start somewhere near where you did. And last I looked there were still charity slots available . . . |

I've been helping out since 2004 and have finished the race twice, so I know a few Directors, and I'll be mentioning it to them. The guy did get sent to the med tent for sure, and was getting an I.V. just before I went back down to complete my shift. What's awesome were the 2 spectators that helped out, and two different racers that stopped running during the race and introduced themselves as Doctors and took the time to ask questions to evaluate the guy and situation! I definitely thanked them.Congratulations on becoming an Ironman!1stTimeTri - 2012-09-08 6:40 PM I'll be there in bike transition checking people through. Say 'HI' if you want.
