I'm thinking along the soft woodchipped part of Lake Washington....down to the boat house then along the lakeside trail as far as 20 minutes each way will take me.

I would like to go to the trailed area near the airport. Seeing as I'm dropping someone off it seems only fitting but I am too afraid I'll get lost.

June Challenge Team Standings - Week #2

Can you believe that June is already 50% finished? Here's how the teams stack up after the second week:

FIRST PLACE - Kamikaze Geckos - 41.6%
SECOND PLACE - Avatar Avengers - 36.7%
THIRD PLACE - Cheesecake Lovers - 36.6%
FOURTH PLACE - Totally Nutty Triathletes (TNT) - 24.4%

Congratulations to the KAMIKAZE GECKOS!

BUT June is only halfway finished - we still have 15 more days to go! So remember - if you don't MOVE IT this month, your team is likely to LOSE IT!

Need a reminder of what happens at the end of June?

The winning team(s) will display a signature line: "My team won the June Challenge!"

All other (losing) teams will display an avatar of something that SHOULD have made them move more!
This could be your shoes (ie: you should have run more), or your bike (ie: you should have biked more), or your bathing suit (ie: you should have swam more), or.... etc.

Avatars and signature lines will be displayed for the month of July. After that, it's your choice whether to leave it, or remove it.

- Dee

Well, the tri today was pretty awesome. Once I get my official time (probably late tonight or some time tomorrow) I will post a race report for all to see! My time was pretty much the same as it was the last time I did one of these mini tris. I might have been a little less 'cause I didn't start my watch until AFTER I got out of the pool! The bummer about it was this tri had a lot more fast folks in it so I didn't place in my age group...but I wasn't far behind...again!

lyssa-gator - 2008-06-14 11:34 PM hey all. not working out. slacking off. actually, dh got called in to work @ 4 this morning, and dedicated though i may be, that's just to dang early for the likes of me. hopefully tomorrow. i am CONSIDERING putting on the wetsuit and seeing how cold the lake is. BRRRRRRR (snow melt, the temp is feckin glacial!!) but i'll run either way.
********** Now that is dedication!! Does the lake still have ice or is it just insanely cold?
haven't seen any ice floating around out there, but the snow level is ONLY about 500 or so feet above the lake. so it'll be chilly for sure. yay for wetsuits. (not that it helped on memorial day!)

C'mon in Lyssa.....the water is lovely......WOOO HOOOOO!!!!!

I feel the brain freeze just looking at this picture while I am sat here in a nice air conditioned office.....AAARRRGGGHHH

Kenny - I knew we could get that speedo picture of you!

Mind you.....I bet Jimmy is in the 105F heat looking at that picture just saying.......

"AHHHHHHH!!!!....How refreshing that would be after my long bike ride thru this dang heat and blowing sand"

Well maybe for a few seconds anyway....!

Good one! Poor Jimmy...just the thought of that heat makes me ill. I've been YouTubin' all day today and found this video from an Iron Man a LOOOONNNGGG time ago. Two women were crossing the finish line for 4th place. They were both totally whipped and both of them CRAWLED to the finish line - LITERALLY! It was insane! THAT is how I would be in Jimmy's heat!

Hey that was not that long ago...not when you are my age! and I watched that race when I was in Alaska...I will never forget it...I was pregnant with my daughter and was nothing but a bag of emotions! I can remember crying for them! and the girl that got passed....her name is my name sake! I was sooo bummed for her! ok it was 26 years ago! - YOU WIN!

what are the distances on those mini tri's?

They are awesome little starter tris...

250 yd pool, 4 mi bike, 1.4 mi run

The one I did in March was the same distance but the order was run, bike, swim. I LOVE that order a lot more because I'm fresh for the run and I can get a pace of about 8:30. However, having the run at the end I was probably more like an 80:30!

I finished somewhere in the neighborhood of about 37 minutes. The overall winner finished in 23:something minutes...he was 14 years old!!! Darn kids! My age group winner was 33 minutes.

lol! You did the exact same workout I did today. The photo looks freezing though. Was there actually someone that jumped in that snowy water?

By the way, good job on the triathlon Tracy!

Yes, somebody really did that dive. It is a real unalterted photo......however it is not me in the speedo (because I actually I met my goals this week!)

The guy in the photo is called Lewis Gordon Pugh and he has a load of records for swimming in extremely cold places. He has swam at the North Pole and the Antarctic and loads of other VERY cold water places. And he is does it all in just a speedo, swimcap and goggles, per the Channel Swimming Association rules!!!!...NO WETSUITS!

CHeck him out at http://www.lewispugh.com/who.html Really interesting guy. Intersting videos on this site. I can't imagine how this guys survives these temps.....insane
