It just wears you down after a long stint in the saddle!hathecr - 2011-02-27 2:20 PM dodgersmom - 2011-02-27 1:27 PM You guys are scaring me I wouldn't worry. The winds typically disappear in March & stay gone 'til November.
i so hope you are spot on with this comment...i was in north dallas today and the wind beat me up. last week, i was ok with the wind...this week, notsomuch...it beat the crap out of me today...more mentally than physically, but that's almost worse! ugh. |

Dennis, are you looking for it for the CompuTrainer? If so, the 3D file is already up there. Nope, just a Garmin file so I can load it into Cycling Peaks and compare with some of the rides I do around here. I also would be interested in seeing a Garmin elevation profile (preferably using the elevation correction plug in). I think that could even be done by driving the course in a car with the Garmin. I have plans to be out there March 18th/19th. If nothing posted by then, I can post my charts. JD |

Member 18 Spring/Woodlands area | Subject: RE: Ironman Texas BRUTAL! Out and back course from the Wal-Mart @ Woodlands parkway & 2978 to a couple miles shy of Richard's, following the IM course yesterday. Avg'd 18.3 outbound & 14.4 inbound! The winds picked up as the day went on and by the time we turned around the winds were in the consistent 20mph range. Very little let up and then it would gust. When you got cross w/ the wind (lolo) it was a bit interesting, I'm 180 and was blow over 3' on a couple occasions! Felt like the winds stopped forward motion coming up the hill on Fish Creek !!! WOW! What great fun ! Thank Goodness were not coming south of Fish Creek for the IM ! |

Hardest ride I've ever done, hands down, no comparison. I was terrified and using everything I had just trying to keep my bike upright in the gusts. I'm still not convinced I wasn't actually going backwards on that last little hill when the gust hit! |

Expert 1083 The Woodlands, TX | Subject: RE: Ironman Texas dodgersmom - 2011-02-28 10:57 AM Seriously "STOP SCARING ME" Ha! Sorry Marcy. Seriously though, Ron and I have ridden this road easily hundreds of times before (almost every weekend for 2+ years, I was on it the weekend it opened!) and it has never, EVER been remotely as bad as it was this weekend. It can get hot and windy at the end of a long ride but never like it was yesterday. Plus, the winds were on the way back which is not actually part of the course so we should be fine for IM |

Veteran 147 TEXAS | Subject: RE: Ironman Texas The run is mainly on green belt. Asphalt in places and concrete elsewhere. Do not recall too much of the run if any on streets per se. Although there is some. Am sure those that live in the Woodlands can give a better description. |

Extreme Veteran 492 Frisco | Subject: RE: Ironman Texas So, how did everyones February IMTX training go? Are you still on track, or ahead of where you thought you might be at this stage of your plan? For me, I think my swim is on track, slowly getting more efficient in the pool. Run has been OK, although I was slowed down for a few days this month do to a mishap during our snow week! I definitely need to start picking up the mileage on my long runs now! I really feel like my biggest gains so far have been on the bike, which is where I have been focusing the last 2 months. High intensity trainer sessions during the week are starting to pay off! All things being considered, things are going good and I think I am on track. I hope everyone else's training is going well! |

Missed some days with bronchitis and the flu. In March the bike will be about 150 miles more and the swim around 10k more. Run is pretty good. March is a key month for all of us - 80 Days until IMTX! |

Swim came in short this month due to my local gyms pool being shutdown due to health inspection issues according to the Health Department. It sucked... My schedule only allows me to get my swim training in the morning, and that's the only pool I can get to and make it to work on time. Next month I will ramp it up. Rock the training everyone and stay INJURY FREE!! |

Poor bike mileage this month but strong rides, not a whole lot of time and bad weather made it for a bad combo. Hoping to get more during March and April. |

Elite 3088 Austin, TX | Subject: RE: Ironman Texas This is the time to really focus, everyone. The next 2 months make up the heart of your training. Skimp here and you'll pay for it. Now is the time to make committed effort to not missing a single workout. I got way behind myself, but have come back the last couple of weeks. So instead of putting down what I've done, I'm laying a marker down for what I'm going to do. Through the end of Thursday, March 31, here are my goals: Bike: 19 workouts - 700 miles Run: 18 workouts - 160 miles Swim: 16 workouts - 38,000 yards Put some numbers out there and let's hold each other to them. See you in a month with the results! ETA: And since it makes sense to put it here. My current weight is 169.2. Goal for the end of the month: 163.6. Edited by dgunthert 2011-03-01 12:39 PM |
