Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() TTucker - 2011-06-23 10:59 PM All - So my husband keeps making reference to how physically solid I was when he returned from a trip to Korea about 3 years ago (went from 26% bodyfat postpartum to 15% in 7 months!. Today I found the 'meal plan' I was on for 15 solid months and I WANT to do it again. Here's the problem ya'll.....I show my husband the meal plan and 10 minutes later he's asking me to make him brownies. FREAKIN BROWNIES are you serious dude?!! Grrr I keep thinking about one of Marsha's fabulous posts about the difference between the desire to DO something and actually DOING it....It is simply SO MUCH doggone harder when he is home.. Any suggestions? I'm off to bed now....have a hot date w/the lake tomorrow morning alongside the Whipmaster with a run planned prior to that. Need as much REST as I can get!! LOL So, did you make the brownies? I'd love to have some too, if you did! It's hard if the other half of you isn't going along with the plan. I know that I've sabatogued my wife plenty and she's done it to me lately. I think we're finally rolling on the same page but then again, one of us usually has some weird restaurant craving that blows up our whole week. Basically, I wish I had a solution for you other than telling your husband "well, if you want that again, you should go back to Korea for a while."

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Gin n Tonic - 2011-06-23 12:28 PM My son poisoned Charlie by feeding him Christmas Chocolates last year, and I don't know that he ever recovered. He's sort of stuck between a dog-diagnosed version of Tourettes Syndrome, Tremors, ummmm....Schizophrenia possibly. He's very sweet.....when he's in the backyard and I talk to him through the back door though. Yea...my shirt isn't a New Orleans shirt however it IS colored similarly. Maybe I will wear it while practicing clipping my feet in, in front of my over-protective retired neighbors, and maybe even Charlie. Nice to meet you, and I'm going to have a discussion with my Mom about putting my childhood name on this discussion board....SMH Aww Keeks, don't be mad at your mom. We simply like initiating the new people with a little fun - just ask Brad with the great hair! Thanks for sharing about Charlie. Poor thing basically went without oxygen for a while so it's understandable why he's such a mess. Kudos to you for still keeping him and loving him, eccentricities and all. Last but not least, it doesn't matter what your shirt is - it's not a Patriots shirt so it's just wrong. Welcome again!

Member ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Thanks to Everyone for the warm welcomes! I have noticed an "initiation" type process for myself and Brad with the great hair....even more motivation for newcomers to get to working out!!! I am very anxious and excited to start training, this Monday. Does that make it ok to pile up as much as possible on junk food and empty calories such as Beer (No Gin) all weekend? SOOOOOO excited!!! <3 |

GAH!!! My fiance is the same way. He used to be a long distance runner, and is one of those people with a naturally fast metabolism, so he gets ice cream and stuff all the time. Plus, he always gets my Achilles heel (Reese's peanut butter cups), and then eats them in front of me. I'm trying to eat better, but he makes it really hard! I totally feel your pain.... |

Fairly athletic with competitive roots, just several years out of practice. The tri was a challenge last year and it really kicked my rear so I'm looking to dial up the training now that I know what to expect. My motivation is wavering due my sense of competitiveness is slightly overwhelming, but I'm getting much better in this area. Friend of Wilson's (don't feel sorry for me!).... FAMILY STATUS: Pushing 30, no kids, no wifey, lots of nieces and nephews! CURRENT TRAINING: Just had my first tri last weekend (number 2) after several months off. Taking it slow after a car accident in November! 2011 RACES: Eagle Creek - June (Done), Cicerco Sprint - August WEIGHTLOSS: Looking to shed >40 lbs. Tall order I know, but aren't goal's supposed to be? In a nutshell! Brad |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I just saw that the Challenge forum is running their annual "TDF Challenge" beginning in July. It's a simple competition where you pick 1-3 goals and then strive to fulfill them over the three weeks of the TDF. It's also a great way to meet other people, if you're into that, or I thought it might be fun if some of us competed on the same team. I also know, it sometimes gets competative so it is a great way to stick to your plan. You can read more here and let me know what you think! http://beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=257673&posts=16&start=1 |

You can get plans with the free membership AND you can log your training. The only thing about the free plans is there isn't much detail. They list each activity by minutes and there's no detail as to what they want you to do with those minutes. It'll just say, Swim: 30 minutes, Bike: 45 minutes. You can also search for plans from books, Dad and I have quite a few at home. I think that's what Dad is doing since he probably thinks BT is gay, ha ha! I also found that when my Gold Membership expired this week, my plan that I had uploaded disappeared!! Luckily I printed it out... In any case, if you click the link you'll see what each membership has to offer and how much they cost normally and you can take 30% off for the sale. |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Welcome Kati and Brad! And Shawn, I'm not your "friend" so I can't view your logs -- help please. I always check the forum and "lurk" around but don't post much. Today, I joined the "club" and fell over at a freaking stop sign with my new clipless pedals!!! My daughter has now seen my husband fall (on the inaugural ride with his new shoes) and on that same ride I almost got hit by a car because of the dang pedals, and now today I go toppling over like the old guy in the raincoat on "Laugh In!" (Is anyone old enough to remember that show from the 60-70s?) She says she's NEVER getting em! The fall actually was hilarous -- I laughed all the way down -- and fortunately didn't hurt anything but my pride (and not really that either because the only one watching was my daughter and some teenage kid mowing the lawn -- I can only imagine what he thought of the old lady tipping over!) I was thankful for gloves - still managed to bruise my hands and my elbow, but that's it. Now that I've fallen, can I say "that's it, I've done my duty" and never fall again? |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Tammy - it's so hard when the spouse/family are not on the same plan with eating. It took me a looooong time to be able to watch them eat yummy crap food while I ate the healthy choice. After a while it became easiER but it still isn't easy. When I'm heavy into training and focused on a goal it's easier because I think of the food I'm eating as fuel for my machine (body) and only the BEST fuel will do! But when I'm less focused and just kind of "maintaining" fitness I find myself straying to the yummy-bad food habits so much easier ![]() |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Indy people, am I the only one having a REALLY hard time getting back into training??? I mean, like I really don't wanna! I've been lucky to log something this week, and forget about the double days that are scheduled. I'm supposed to have a long ride today, but I just don't feel like it... I'm going to chalk it up to my mental health that I'm shamming, and hope to be fully following the plan on Monday. Tri in 2 weeks, then a 5K, then another Tri (my A-race), so I really can't afford to be slackin'. Okay, I think I'll go sit on the couch now and read the paper.... then maybe a book.... then maybe a nap.... zzzzzzzzz....... |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I'm all for this TdF challenge. I've talked Wesley and Danielle into joining me on the Leopard Trek Team (I was so disappointed that Andy Schleck didn't win last year -- I'm all for him this year!) I'm trying to recruite my brother, who lives in Virginia and is a cyclist, and maybe my husband - both of them would have to join BT first. Anyone else want to join us? |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Well gang, I FINALLY made it to an event in 2011! Its been a pretty dry year for me, but I knew the old girl still had some pride left (somewhere). Ok, so it was just a 5k, but its a pretty good one and it is almost in my back yard. So now I just need to hold it together to make it to my tri in July. |

Sorry Peggy!! You were always my friend, but BT got it wrong! The oversight has been remedied and you can lurk away or, better yet, give me your $.02 on all of the mindlessness that I put down. If I missed or removed anyone else by accident (I have a pre-spring cleanup last weekend) then please let me know! I'm also sorry to hear bout your fall but I'm glad you survived. I bruised my hand down to the bone when I fell last time and it hurt for weeks. Let's hope yours are better and that you've done your amusement duty to the cycling gods for 2011. If not, we'll just have to hold the next MMM'er get together in your house and make you pay for everything, particularly the booze. You've certainly done it before and know what you're doing so that's not an issue. Just try to keep it fun, don't feel pressured and enjoy your daily training. Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Damn, there have been so many posts - I'm kinda day late dollar short. Love the activity!!! I've been preoccupied with lots of family stuff and to be honest it took me a few days to get my head straight....that weekend zapped me! I'm getting older and just don't bounce back like I used to. Big welcome to Kati and Brad officially being in the "club"....You've already had a pretty decent interview - and I guess you passed! If I could change my login name it'd be "drunktriathlete"....wonder if that one is taken? And Brad could be "nicehairboy"....and Kati got hers right!!!! She exhales "Gin-n-Tonic"! haha LMAO. Brad and I had a great ride today!! The weather was perfect and I just wish we had more time to ride....I could have gone on for a long time today - it was great! Brad only cussed me a couple times for having navigated him into the hills..haha...He did great! Hey Hilde, the shirt for WACO 2012 should probably have some sort of sub-theme of Triathlete alcohol abuse!!! I have been teasing my wife that Brad and I are gunna head out next month and do the Waco Tri this year...she didn't have an overwhelming approval look...haha..but you never know....Brad and I can pack two bikes, two transition bags, swimsuits and 4 bottles of Bombay Blue Sapphire Gin - 2 just in case we run out of gas....That's all we'd need to roll......Waco, Temple - Look the FU$#%@#CK out! Okay, the wifey is upstairs waiting for me.....yes - it's that time...she needs some Wilson time!!!! Hope everyone has a great weekend....I hope to have all the pictures gone through tomorrow and I'll post them for everyone to see...there are some good ones in there! |

I've been sitting here thinking of a snappy comeback....and apparently there are NO justifications or acceptable explanations to the above comments....Except that yes Wilson, the drinks should have been on a flashy 10 minute rotation...I mean geez, you left SOOOO much time to sober up in between drinks! |

Member ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() OK! I am soooooo excited for tomorrows start to new and better things. So far, my running shoes are the ones that gave me a bone bruise last fall, Mom got me a swimsuit that was so short it all but folded me up like a Murphy bed and gave me a double Mastectomy, and the only bike I've got access to is my sons Radio Flyer....but you know what? I havent been this eager about a workout plan in a long time, and I think this time it may be because I've got goals and mountains to climb. Will be taking a trip next weekend for a Gait Analysis and Fitting, I'm anxious to try on the different brands and figure out which work best, anyone used any Asymmetrical brands? I've taken a liking to them... Also found a bike package that is pretty appealing, unfortunately the training wheels and streamers are extra unless you buy the sporty vegetable basket for the front. I'm not a bike guru like Mom, all I know is it's a Felt brand and it's bright Red!!! So hot! Hope everyone has a great week! |
