On that score I might give you materials engineers and yes I would say some engineers are doing scientific research but then they are sceintists the others not so much. Most of those engineers do not do the basic research, they figure out how to scale up. Many that I have seen do not have any great depth of field in any given science. Computer science isn't a science per se either it is more of a technical specialty like engineering just cause they like to call it sceince doesn't mean it is. I have yet to see a computer scientist have to prove anything. Again I say Science is the investigation of why things work as they do Engineering is the practical application of how things work and how they work together. They each require different types of thought processes. Then again this is a lot like the philisophical question: How do you define a chair? Edited by trinnas 2011-06-30 11:01 AM |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Guten Morgen y'all. So Engineers aren't scientists? My degree is in accounting, so I don't need to get involved in that one, but I have to agree with the perspective of metric being better than imperial. Of course Orwell's character in 1984 had a good argument against metric: a pint being better than a half-liter and a liter being too much to drink all at once. Errr, Ms. Yanti, what's this about Alka Seltzer in place of baking soda? Aren't they flavored or something? |
