Pro 4528 Norwalk, Connecticut | Subject: RE: Super Cats Mentor Group - CLOSED losta - 2009-08-02 7:12 PM I tried to tri but the weather didn't cooperate so they changed it to a duathlon (sp?) I got to finish but I think most did not. A few minutes after I started the second run thunder showers and a torrential downpour hit so they didn't let anyone else start the run. I'm guessing a third to a half were allowed to finish but I'm not sure. Now I'm looking for another sprint to do this month so I can become official ASAP. It was fun and I will post a race report soon. Well, now you are a Duathlete!!!! Soon you will be a Triathlete!! Either way, you are awesome, so don't worry about it, lol. I will look around and see what i can find in our area and let you know if i find anything!!! |

Expert 1067 Douglaston, NY | Subject: RE: Super Cats Mentor Group - CLOSED That's a bummer on your race Lisa. At least you got to finish though! Congrats on doing your first duathon!! Congrats to you on your race as well Patch! My second mini-sprint went fine and I was able to improve a few things that I botched last time. Here's the race report: http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=172849&posts=1&start=1 I think I finally feel ready to do a full sprint now. With one month to prepare for my next race, I will be completely ready! |

I really like the visual of you dodging lightning just so you can finish the race! Did it spur you to your fastest run yet? I know it would have for me! I also scanned TriFind real quick for you and only found these three races in the New York City area with room still available (I'll leave CT to Rudy since that's his stomping grounds). 8/15 - 3rd Annual SBR Triathlon Series, Race # 2 (in Harriman State Park) 8/16 – NEW YORK TRI/BIATHLON SERIES #2 (also in Harriman State Park) http://www.nytri.org/dbacceptance.cfm?ID=8

There is nothing betweeen now and September in the sprint distance, only Oly's and a weekday race at Lake T, which is the middle of CT, near bristol i think. In Spetember there are lots of great sprints in lower Fairfield County. Sorry i have no better news for ya |

Master 1690 Metro NY Area | Subject: RE: Super Cats Mentor Group - CLOSED Thanks Guys, I came up with the same. I've expanded my search territory and am now considering Vermont as there is a Trek Women's Tri with a nice short run next weekend. I have to decide and get family approval today. |

Master 1690 Metro NY Area | Subject: RE: Super Cats Mentor Group - CLOSED I like your new profile pic Shawn! I don't think the lightning sped me up much (seems not much will but 4.5 miles is more than my knee is comfortable with). I would do the Harriman but I am away that weekend. I think I'd rather go to Vermont than Staten Island...LOL Thanks again. Here are my goals for this month: 1) Give notice at current job. 2) Find place to live. (In another state. Many hours of driving away.) 3) Finish up work at current job. 4) Get ready for new job. (They're sending a packet of material in the mail.) 5) Move. 6) Start new job, while unpacking. 7) Avoid desire to panic, freak out, or just sit in a corner and whimper. Unfortunately, all this has interfered with my BT time.... |

Master 1690 Metro NY Area | Subject: RE: Super Cats Mentor Group - CLOSED My quest to become a triathlete is urgent! I have signed up for another women's sprint this coming Sunday in Vermont. It's another long drive and overnight stay but I think it will be a good one and it only has a 2 mile run. The course info says rolling hills on the bike, I hope they aren't mountains. |
