mehaner - 2013-01-24 2:51 PM ugh why do i ever leave TAN?  i hate some people.

You had to know that was coming over there though...

no, i was surprised.  i thought BT was more progressive and pro-military in general.

then again, it's really only a very few people that are the issue.

It's an antagonistic audience in these regressive topics who uses reduction to the absurd as their logical modus-operandi.

I will have to look in CoJ and see which thread is bad.   I think I might need to just always use the SARC font in everything I post.

Everybody must be sleeping in, since it is -15 wind chill this morning.  Ready to change to Florida.  Sick of Iowa cold really bad this year.

Speaking of trips to Florida, I am thinking of going to Daytona during Speed Week.  I don't want to go to the race.  I just want to see craziness, from the 16th floor.  The trip is free except for gas.  I am retired so I basically have the time.  I can drive down say on Monday (Feb 18), take my groceries with me, stay at our condo, then drive back before the race on Sunday (Feb 24) to avoid the traffic.  JWKMH does not understand and thinks this is a waste of time.  I have never hung around this kind of crowd.  I just think it might be fun to go to some bars, check out the peripheral events surrounding the race, see what the vibe is like.  I will also escape the winter weather a bit and do some outdoor riding.

Interesting, side note, Jimmie Johnson once stayed in one of our condos during the race.  He and Jeff Gordon were seen playing pool in the rec room. It created quite a stir amongst the blue-haired retirees from New York. You never know who might rent one of our units.

So here is the poll question.  Do you think the people watching would be worth the drive?  Would you do it given the time and the price of gas?

Pro military yes and rightfully so. The next word that comes to my mind wouldn't be 'progressive' tho....

maybe i'm TAN biased...most of the guys in here are pretty "libertarian" in the sense that they don't want to restrict others' rights whether they want to exercise those rights or not.

Yep basically. Last comment here on the subject because I know its not the place for it, so apologies, but part of the problem with US issues like this they tend to get brought down to the lowest common denominator level of this is why we can or can't, when probably they should be looking the other direction.

I thought the mods should have just frozen the thread after the post from the BT member who is an army major who now teaches at Westpoint (not to name any names).  That was all that needs to be said.  I am pretty much in awe of people like her.

My poll got buried under the women in combat. Let's go to Florida.  Who's with me?  Maybe we can have women in the expeditionary force.

Pfft....then we'd have to let them out of the kitchen.

But wait....yes....we'll need them to make our sammiches, get us beers, and whatnot.

Love and hate on one page.  Hiya TAN.

"It's a thin line, between love and hate". What a GREAT song lyric. I have a penchant for love gone bad / revenge songs.

Oooh a cup of tea would be wonderful thank you.  Earl Grey, hot please.

Life is settling down for now, I just hope it stays that way for a little while

Good luck with that... The settling down part, not the earl grey bit.
