wgraves7582 - 2010-01-28 8:45 AM Oh and I won't have and Half Mary's this month.  I am hoping for 8 total miles for the month.  That is pretty bad

Then how the h3ll do you expect to get a t-shirt?

I already gave my extra miles to Jules. Unless you can find someone else to take pity on you you're in trouble mister!

Ohhh - I didn't know there were parameters.  I was gone when you guys put this together remember.

I supposed I could go and run 2 miles Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday but I don't see that happening.

Excuses have a 0 meter maximum effective range.

Robin has graciously willing to SELL you some miles though. So if we all work this out right YOU will be sending ME the bottle of wine from ROBIN.

Too funny Ann(e) - let me know exactly what you want or you might end up with boonsfarm!

Bill - I would like a bottle of Pyrat Cask 23 Rum, since you asked.

Umm don't you have to be 21 to buy that???  I am only 19 - sorry you will have to wait 2 years.

And on top of that I have no idea what you are talking about - what ever happened to - well I cannot remember the name of that rum either - either I have had too much or I just don't remember anymore!

It has a bat for a logo and is made in San Juan - I even toured the facility - for free samples of course!

i think the bat logo is bacardi isn't it?

wgraves7582 - 2010-01-28 7:28 AM Alright the EMG confirmed that I do have a nerve disorder.  So our first course of action is taking a generic Neurontin through the weekend and start to push my running past 1 mile and see what happens.  I am starting off with 2 a day and the doc says that if it does not fully work shoot for 3 a day.  So that is $40 a month for the privilege to run longer than 1.5 miles

If it does not work we can try a nerve block which basically, from what I understand, puts that part of the body to sleep permanently.

3rd option is surgery but I have no desire to get into that at all.

So I can resume running without guilt

Good to see a plan in place.  Hope the first option works out well for you!

wgraves7582 - 2010-01-28 9:19 AM Thanks Neal - that is what happens when you stop drinking it and turn 40 (even though I am only 19 so I cannot buy Ann(e) her bottle of whatever it was she wanted!)

Yeah I'm not too far removed from my college drinking years so the memory is still there

Are you drinking now, Bill?

I'm being all thinky here right now. You are only 19 yet YOU may have had too much to drink you don't remember, hmmm...
You are only 19, yet you were able to tour the facility in San Jan with the bat logo on the bottle, hmmm...
You are only 19, yet your daughter is how old? 14, isn't she? hmmm again.

I think I'm being bamboozled here!

It is a specific bottle of rum, look it up. I always have a bottle of Pyrat XO Reserve at home. It's a toss up between that and the Wild Turkey American Honey as my favorites. Cabo Wabo is good stuff for Margarita's, too.

ceilidh - 2010-01-28 7:01 AMMorning all. Bill, I am glad you got a diagnosis. Nerve damage sucks. But it is amazing how your body can compensate. I have proof.
I don't have an opinion on the doc. I sent one a bill one time for my time because I waited for 2 hours but haven't not paid for a diagnosis, even if rushed. However, It ain't right to be a slacker especially if you are a professional.

I have 2 1/2 M for the month.. I'll send you some miles. They aren't free, though.

Later folks. off to the Dr for me, too.
Icky doctor visits! Hope it's nothing too serious--just a checkup maybe? we don't need any more gouhlies sick!! Robin-I might need some of those miles too, so don't sell them ALL to Bill! My shin splints have been acting up and I am waaaay behind in my half mary training plan. I don't think I'm going to make it through 6+ more miles in the next few days. Not without another flare anyway. Plus I was sick yesterday and didn't do any workout at all. (Is that a sad enough story to warant some free miles? Pretty please with sugar on top??)

ironannekidd - 2010-01-28 6:34 AM Neal - Can I ask how you got into Escape from Alcatraz?

When my sister and her family lived in CA, my nephew knew that I had started going triathlons. He called me one day and said he heard people talking about Escape from Alcatraz and he wanted me to come do it. Um... thanks big guy! Unfortunatly I was unable to fit it into my schedule when they were there.

They do a lottery every year now.  You basically have to fill out an application for the lottery, which includes writing down recent races and finishing times.  I'm not sure if this actually is to weed out beginners or weak swimmers or not.  Then they hold a drawing and select a random number of people from those that submitted an application.  I believe they hold a second drawing (from those applicants that weren't picked the first time around) after registration closes for the first wave to give out the rest of the empty slots.

That's cool Neal!

wgraves7582 - 2010-01-28 8:31 AM So Ghoulies I have been thinking about my first sports doctor appointment and his diagnosis of arthritis.

I have a HSA medical plan and know I will be getting a bill from him for the balance and I am thinking of sending him the bill back with a letter explaining that I don't feel obligated to pay for his services because his diagnosis was rushed and not even close to what the problem was.

Basically explain to him that in these economic times that he wasted my time and I have since had to pay $100 in co-pays to get a proper diagnosis he was capable of obtaining.

Anyone ever done anything like that to a doctor?

It is customer service after all and if he had bad service or a bad product would he not expect better.

What say yee Ghoulies?

You can try it, but IMHO I think you will end up paying most of not all of the fee. Wrong or not, he did still spend time seeing you as a patient. It's worth a shot though.

I have Add It Up and Kiss Of on my iPod.

I listened to them all the time in HS, along with Depeche Mode. I had 2nd row center seats to a DM concert but got grounded and couldn't go. Can I take the time machine back so I can go to that concert?

I have to agree with Ann. But that doesn't mean that you shouldn't let him know what you did find from another practitioner. Sometimes it's good education for the first guy--and any doctor worth his/her salt is always up for that. Recently my hubby broke his collarbone. He was seen in an urgent care clinic, xrays, broken in one place, here's your new sling, yada yada. 3 days later he says "something's not right", so I call and get him in with an ortho doc same day--turns out it was broken in 2 places, and was overlapping 3+ centimeters. Required surgery within 2 days. This at the same time he was supposed to be traveling out of the country for work. A month later, I get the bill from the urgent care clinic--with the charge for the office visit, xray and $475 for a "surgical". WTH????? I called and made a stink with the billing department, and told them the huge snafu with missing the bad part of the break. They immediately took off the $475 fee. And hopefully they let the doc know what a mistake he made. (I know I should care more and make sure he did, but seriously, the guy put a mask on to come into the room to see someone who wasn't sick. And no, the doc wasn't sick either.). Moral of the story--it never hurts to ask, just approach it in a nice way, and follow up with the doc by phone/email if at all possible. You're more likely to get somewhere with the bill if you're nice (but firm and clearly not happy) about it.

Wow, sorry that was so long! Guess I had alot to say. Funny part is the billng people treid to tell me that is a normal charge and that the doctor's care is much different once they know it's a broken bone. Yeah, right. I work in an urgent care clinic, I know what the charges should be--and what care goes into a broken clavicle vs. a broken arm (etc). BIG difference---no casting, splinting, or anything time consuming with the clavicle. AND he MISSED the important part of the break!!!! OK. Shutting up now.
