I so wanted to post the results as soon as they were up on Sunday but I tried to show some restraint because, you won't believe this, I have been accused of being a thunder stealing attention in the past.  Note to self: restraint is so last year.

Since restraint is out the window I will admit that not only did I look up Q and her baby daddy's results, I actually followed their progress through the race online. At church. Furtively checking to see if they'd made it to the 30k checkpoint while hiding my phone in my Bible. For reals. It was suggested by people who profess to love me that perhaps I should just run it myself next year rather than agonizing over others races. Food for thought.

I'm so proud of you  for getting through it Q! I see a BQ in your future should you ever attempt this lunacy again.

P.S. Can you BQ with a marathon time from an Ironman?

We were following you online from Michigan too Q! I didn't hide my phone in my Bible but I was constantly tracking your 5k intervals while I was supposed to be doing my MBA midterm.
Awesome job! I am not even sure if that is enough congrats on how amazing both of you did out there on the course!

Well, isn't Q's progress more important than church or advanced degrees?

"restraint is so last year" that is HILARIOUS

I love all we Manatees. You guys are the very best.

So I finally have a diagnosis for my nasty tropical mystery illness, it's chikungunya. I think that is Swahili for "totally fokked"

It's been going around here, similar to dengue (also mosquito-borne) but much longer recovery period, and consistent with my symptoms.

Now I don't feel so bad getting totally wiped out grocery shopping. Heh. I'm probably looking at another restful month or so.

Hey Q! I see you! Thank you for the beautiful comment on my 20K post ... I know CoJ is treacherous grounds so I appreciate you visiting. Heh.

Baby keeping you up again? I will say I always slept poorly for the few days after a marathon, like I had crazy legs and crazy body and crazy mind or something. Well, actually, the latter is usual.

OMG you people are crackhead endurance sports junkies, and I love you.

There was a point on Sunday where my pathos took me to feeling sorry for myself that nobody was holding a sign for me.  Trust me, I know this makes no sense.  If I had known you guys were stalking tracking me online, I would have felt better!

As it is you all have made me feel like a rock star and I am grateful!

I promised Yanti a urine story:  The lines for the portas were not too long, but every time I went by, it just seemed SO FAR to go over to them.  So I am at a water stop and all of a sudden got the idea that if I just go while I am tossing water all over me nobody will notice.

So I did.  Because, you know, on Sunday it seemed better to marinate in my own pee than run an extra 20 yards.

Not a remarkable bodily fluid story (by BT standards) but the punchline is that I told my husband about it, and he wasn't grossed out or turned off in any way.  No, his quote was, "Oh wow, I wish I could do that."

THAT, my Manatee friends, is how you know you are in a union sanctified by obsession with endurance sports.

Happy Wednesday.

Funny thing about where I'm at with the whole "I can pee on myself" chapter in my never ending quest of self discovery and self abuse is that I will happily pee on myself again while running but I am horrified at the prospect of peeing on my bike.  So basically I love my bike more than I love myself.  Is that wrong?

Quickly learning you are, my young Paduwan!

Let me pose a situation. When someone crashes on a bike, what is the first thing you must ask?

OMG! I made Yanti's signature line.  Not only am I honored but I also feel like I suddenly have huge amounts of credibility.

BT: Who are you, lowly know nothing thndrcloud, to think that your opinion on this subject means anything when compared to our vast experience, knowledge and wisdom?

Me: Yanti quoted me in her signature.

BT: Oh dear.  Please forgive us for doubting you.  We bow before your awesome authority.

HEE HEE HEE. There's a whole set of people out there who would pay good money to see that. I know it. I seen it on the Interwebz.

The Manatees are like one giant flippy Monty-Pythonesque skit-movie, yet loving and indeed, sometimes even practical.

I need some serious help because I'm completely at a loss here.

Ellie has her first 5k race coming up on October 30th.  She still has never run more than 2 miles and it's been a while since she did that but I think she's going to pull through it.  She's asked me to come run with her since the rest of her "team" will be every man for themselves trying to hit their goals.  Being all pay it forward, and probably because she's my kid too, I agreed to pace her.  Now the hubs is talking about running with us as well.

So the problem is that it's a costume race and I have no idea how we should dress up!

We're thinking it would be fun to do a theme, particularly since the little dude and his stroller will be attending as well.  We briefly considered running single file and doing a Chinese dragon but it's against the rules to cover your face.  Oh, and we don't have a Chinese dragon lying around.

Any other, better, ideas from my ever amusing and often surprising manatee friends?

The simplest solution to your costume conundrum is the Incredibles.  You can buy pre-made incredibles shirts, or get red shirts and do an iron-on.  Your family makeup matches perfectly.  You can skip the red tights.

Others family outfits that match your configuration are Wizard of Oz (let daughter be dorothy, though!) but that's a lot more work.  My family as Wizard of Oz, BTW, and I sewed all the costumes myself back when I was organized:

(Yes, that's our real little dog in the role of Toto.  His name's Tucker, though).

Honestly, WoOz is too much work, probably -- in hindsight, this was mostly an excuse for me to post a pic of my best family costume ever.

You could go easy witha pumpkin family, and all wear Jack O Lantern shirts.  Fairy princesses/tutus for the girls.  Peter Pan, Wendy, lost boys.  A family of black cats (get/make ears and tails, draw on whiskers, wear all black).

You can do this!

Hallowe'en costumes!

Hm, I'm stumped. Other than dressing up for races I'm not very good at that sort of thing.

I was thinking a family of rabbits--super easy to do cute glittery bunny ears, white clothes, poof tail, draw on whiskers
(Kinda like the cat family, I just don't like cats)

Or just dress everyone in jazzy orange and black gear, cool hats/hairwear for the kiddos

MUMMIES!!! Glue and TP!!!

VAMPIRES! That takes a little more work but not too much.

Theme costumes would be fun for a family of five, I'm just blanking. I mean, I grew up with Scooby Doo and such.

I am not very good at this either. I can barely think of a costume for myself let alone coordinating for 4 people!  But alaso I will try.
-Charlie's Angels but only if you don't mind dressing the lil one up as a girl
- Cruella De Vil and dalmations
- Deal or no Deal (hubby=Howie, and you/Ellie = models, and kiddo is a briefcase)
- Goldilocks and bears

Ok these are probably hard to do but it's all I have.

And Yanti...there is nothing wrong with growing up with Scooby Doo. We all turned out ok....well on 2nd thought...

Good luck with your new meal plan Dineen!  My friend basically had the same problem. She ate relatively healthy things but did not eat on anywhere near a regular schedule (i.e. skipped meals, ate lots at once, etc). She went on WW which kind of forced her to eat on a more regular basis and added in some healthy snacks and she has lost weight (still eating basically the same food she did before WW).

And I have a pre-announcement to make....We are having a... _____!  Sorry I don't know yet but will find out within the next two hours hopefully!

I always wished my doctor would tell me to eat more to lose weight.  Kinda jealous.

Your new plan is not only going to help you be healthier and lose weight but I bet it will make you stronger and faster too.  How do you feel after a few days of following it?
