ironannekidd - 2010-06-17 12:17 PM Question for the group

Do any of you not feel like eating when it's hot out? I have noticed over the years that my family eats less over the summer. There or occasionally nights when a popsicle or bowl of ice cream is dinner.

Since I have been out more, and it's been hotter I have not had much of an appetite. Last night after my run I wasn't hungry at all. I had my normal glass of chocolate milk when I got back, and another before bed and that was it for the evening. Even today I haven't been hungry.

Nekkid - you have to force feed yourself.  Trust me you have not experienced hot like we have and we just eat even though we might not feel like it.

You can focus on fruits and lighter things and then just 1 heavy substance but I was eating so much light stuff I was getting a funky stomach needing solid food.  Took care of that issue at an all you can eat buffet - oh yeah!!!!!  That is my game.

I do the force feed. I have the timer set on my phone and I eat every 3 hours.

Morning Bill. All I know from the last day is that MOST men love toppage.

Howdy Robin - I must be in the minority - I like looking up just saying!

There is nothing wrong with a change of scenery, but given the option you wouldn't turn down toppage, would you?

Nekkid I have been toppage my whole life - it is a change of scenery when I am bottomage so I much prefer that.  I like seeing aspects moving in rhythm and pointy objects.

Why am I doing this to myself - I still have 2 weeks left on the road!!!!

I do believe you are doing this to yourself because you have been away from home for awhile now, and... you have no one else to do it to.

Hi Ghoulies,

I'm alive and well.  Working at the new branch, interviewing all of my new staff to find out what they think is going well at the branch, and what they would like to see changed.  Lots of interesting information coming through.

I've got most of my office set up.  I have a window to the outside, so I'm thinking of putting a birdfeeding outside my window.  Will shop for that this weekend.  Found out the old branch manager had a bird feeder also.  LOL

Hope that everyone is doing well here.  Will try to go back and catch up, but not sure when.

mndymond - 2010-06-17 12:22 PM So my morning has been a gong show...

First: I woke up at 3am...couldn't fall back to sleep...so I was in bed awake..thinking...

Second: Fell asleep again at 5:45 or so...slept in till 6:45...I apparently wasn't that asleep

Third: Left for swimming...forgot a bra...debated going without today...decided that was a bad plan. Turned around on my way back to the pool and headed back...

Forth: Finally got to the pool...walked into the building...swiped my card...walking into the change room...figured out that I didn't have my equipment bag...walked back out to the car--got my equipment bag...went back to the pool

Fifth: as a result of 2-4, had to cut back my swim--1000m instead of 2000m

Sixth: Eating carrots...just put a rotten one in my mouth...ewwww...

Now surgery day...I'm just going to qualify this as not going to go well...

Ugh :/

You're looking at this all wrong

1) You got out of bed when you were tired, made it through all the other obstacles and you swam. There were many reasons to give up, but you didn't.

2) Any carrot should be considered a rotten one and all of them should immediately be disgarded.

3) Your patients life is on the line. Do you really want to go into surgery thinking that this is not going to go well Dr. Melindy? Do you?

This is why I am not going to be a surgeon...I feel like 007 this week...2 rats (not nice either)...stupid respirator...hopefully we find a solution--ie. hopefully my supervisor in Edmonton has a respirator to send.

But I need carrots as I am always hungry right now...and eating other things like I eat carrots will make me gain weight.

I'm now listening to soothing music...lol

Take a break... deep breaths... in with the good, out with the bad.

It seems kind of odd that there is not a working respirator where you are. Do they really expect you to have your own equipment?

You can eat carrots if you like, it doesn't matter to me. They're evil, just so you know.

Well it was working...but its pretty old and my supervisor here is moving to a new institution in Aug. So he doesnt want to buy a new one becuase of ownership problems when he moves. If the guy in edmonton doesnt have one, he really has no choice, as I cant do the work without a working respirator. So we will see.

Yes, I've noticed over the years that when it is hot we eat a lot less than when it is cold.  I think it goes back to the days prior to central heating.  In the winter we need the fat to keep our bodies warm, and in the summer we don't.    That's my theory and I'm sticking to it.

I haven't had a drink since probably January..haha...So that could be interesting...hmmm...

And bed...oh how I want bed...

Hi ghouls.  I missed some kind of fun today.  Good to hear from Bill and to know he is doing well all on his own.  As for not being hungry when it's hot, please send some of that my way.  Today is a rest day for me but I think I'm going to go to the Y and do a class or something.

Can't recall if I posted this earlier but this week brought some special arrivals.  You may remember the fire a few months ago that took out 4 of my neighbor's homes.  Well, the permits have all been secured via bribery no doubt in this state and the tear down is beginning.  3 large construction bins and a port-a-potty landed about 100 feet from my garage door.  Nice.  Oh well, I think it will be time to clean out the basement and toss some stuff into those bins.

So...Not that it needs to be decided ASAP...but...

Do I return to competitive swimming for short course season this upcoming year? Swimming 4x week M-TH from Sept to Febish (depending on when Provincials are)...?

School is more or less the same from what I had last yr...
IM training starts in Feb-March I figure...

Debating with myself...

My Dearest Gouhlies,

I miss you!!! I have been going out of my mind with business, running around like a crazy lady. I need my daily dose of Gouhlie to bring me back down, but it just isn't happening this week.
On the plus side, the tri I was on the directing committee for went well. So well, in fact, that I have been asked to be RD next year. I am still trying to figure out how to kindly decline, since my hubby's not on board, and May and June tend to be very busy months around my house, what with hubby's travels, school ending, kids activities, my coworkers traveling and needing their shifts covered and whatnot. I am working a couple extra shifts this week, and hubby's been gone 3 of the last 4 weeks (thus the inablility to be here long enough to catch up--even when all of you are sound asleep. I hope you have visions of sugarplums dancing in your head. Or at least sweaty cyclists and rhythmic movements Wink).

I hope to be back and around during the day by early next week.
Who's gonna do the summary for me so I can get/stay caught up? And what is this PAMelindy thing I saw? PAM? Huh?

Lonely and adrift in a sea of things non-Goulie,

Me

p.s.: if I am not back soon, send a search party. I may be dehydrated and in desperate need of margaritas. Wink MWAH!
