I dont know if they work enough to justify the cost but there sure as hell were alot of them out there last weekend. I think you should go for this model... Yeah aero helmet! I hope Tim can find that article, I'm really curious how much the stuff actually speeds you up. I have read some anecdotal accounts of aero helmets actually being 'faster' than a set of carbon wheels. If that's the case, why would I ever want to spend $1500 for some deep rim carbon wheels? Of course, a PT would be awesome to train with, that's the only thing I can think I would drop that kind of cash on w/ regards to wheels. At least any time soon anyway. |

On the good new front, think I am now officially "hooked" on training. Headed to the gym this PM with a plan to do my swim + bike. Got all changed in to my suit and realized that I'd forgot my goggles. Tried to swim, but wasn't working. Did the bike intervals I had planned and they went great. Done now and don't feel like I did what I should. Good news is the workout seemed "easy" and it'll give me a chance to rest up a bit. LOL, that sucks. Don't sweat it, just do another swim later this week to make up the difference for today. |

Expert 1179 Kansas City, Missouri | Subject: RE: brick94513-GoGoGo Mentor Group - Closed For Now! I just bought some race tires if anyone is looking to get some. PBK has the conti gp 4000s on the cheap right now. If you use 'usa10' coupon code, you get an addt'l 10% off. Works out to ~$61 for a set. That's barely more than 1 tire + shipping from a stateside internet retailer. Shipping to the US is free and took about 2 weeks the last time I ordered from them. I'm doing the "Soldier Ride" this weekend so I'll try it out then. AOTD: I had no idea but could search USAT... but looks like the answer is already posted. |

Cool, post up some pics when you get it on. I like the idea, because it's similar to my speedfil setup, which I really like, but his wire wrapped drinking tube looked kinda jenky. I bet if you got a speedfil or camelbak accessory pack a sleeve for the end of the drinking tube would clean that up nicely. |

Seriously... 50% of the entries last weekend must have had them on. I blew by a couple folks on Mountain Bikes wearing Aeros . Hey J... you never told these guys about the "Homesteader" who arrived late and decided to shove your gear down the Transition Rack and use your towel for his stuff. If that were me I would have "taken the extra time" to toss his/her shnizzle down the aisle... Bahahaahahaa! Yeah, maybe I will just get a sperm sticker to slap on my AERO helmet. Good conversation piece in the TA! LOL. Oh yeah! So this faggot obviously decided he didnt NEED to A) rack his bike before the run or B) bring his own stuff for transition. We get back after the run and this MTB is just leaned up against the end of our rack and his street skating helmet is laying on my stuff next to my cycling shoes. I should have punted that sh*t out into the street, but I was in a good mood so I just left it there. Maybe he was in a big hurry I must have really looked like I knew what I was doing because some chick asked me before the race as I was walking by, "Does the sticker go on the front or the back of the helmet?" I patted my forhead and she said, "I knew you would know!" Bahaaahaaahaa, it cracks me up that people are even less experienced at this than I am. |

Master 1887 Brentwood, CA | Subject: RE: brick94513-GoGoGo Mentor Group - Closed For Now! Good job Jay! I think its important to understand the rules since ignorance is not and excuse! Article 3.7 - Time Penalties. Article 3.7 states the length of time penalties as dictated by the distance of the bike portion of the event. In a short race, a 2-minute penalty should be a fair remedy for a rule violator. As the race distances increase, the time it takes to finish increases. Longer races have longer penalties. The longer penalty in longer distance events serves to punish the offender proportionately. Participants cited for multiple violations receive much longer time penalties, since the penalties are added together. For example, if you are in an intermediate race and receive two citations, your overall penalty totals 6 minutes (2 minutes for the first, 4 for the second), and that time will be added to your finish time. Three violations in one event will result in disqualification. Here is the rule as it appears in the USAT Competitive Rules: 3.7 Time Penalties.

I'm sure in a super or even a sprint distance race the aero helmet will only save me maybe 30 sec-1 minute. It will just make me look cool, especially w/ the sperm sticker on it. |

I think I read that the time savings is actually 1 minute over a 40k TT. In addition, the time benefit and speed are positively related. So, the slower you go, the less benefit you will reap. |

Expert 1179 Kansas City, Missouri | Subject: RE: brick94513-GoGoGo Mentor Group - Closed For Now! Ok, gimme some opinions. There's a guy selling some new FP40s on ST for ~$800. Should I stick w/ my Neuvation plan that will run me about $300 or should I cough up the extra cash for the carbons? That's a pretty serious price cut and I like the fact that they're clinchers and have an aluminum braking surface so I don't have to get new pads either. But what does that additional $500 really get me? http://www.flash-pointracing.com/fp40 or http://www.neuvationcycling.com/product197.html http://www.neuvationcycling.com/product198.html |

Heck, I spent $3k on upgrades for an aluminum Trek Fuel!!! Honestly, realize a set of training wheels is not going to help you out in any way. I think you know that already. That said, I love a little bling. So I say go for whatever your budget allows and you'll be happy with. But, if you can get the neuvations and then save a little and get a set of race wheels and an aero helmet too, that'd be ideal IMO |
