My swim diagnostics came out as "AWESOME and better than Wilson".... I know, how did they know about Wilson?

Hey all, I just heard that there is going to be a HIM distance triathlon in DC next July (the bike course goes through my fire dept's first due area, so that's how I found out).  No real info yet, although it'll start at National Harbor (the swim is in the Potomac).  Not sure I'll be ready to do a half by then, but if anyone wants to, the fiance (who will be my husband by then) and I would be willing to put up some folks. We've got a small townhouse, but we could make it work, and we are about 30 minutes from National Harbor.

Just throwing it out there for folks to start thinking about....

Well, I know that I am NOT up for a HIM, but there are some MMMers who have been thinking of doing one, so maybe you'll get some takers, Jen... what an opportunity for YOU though, cool to have one right in your hometown!!

Awesome, Jen! I like the HIM distance, so I'll keep that one in mind. Maybe you should consider volunteering- that way you could be part of the excitement even if you're not racing.

I congratulated Shawn in an inspire, but I think a public MMM'er congratulation is in order for Shawn and his wife.  I guess he was too busy (he-he) to do the triathlon stuff.

So I got an email from the group putting on my triathlon this weekend.  They are offering an open water swim on the course on Saturday for $20.00.  Ripoff or good idea?  Not that $20.00 would break the bank, but my sister lives on a lake about 5 miles away where the conditions would be pretty similar.   What do you guys think? Is that a common practice?  The other 2 tris I've done didn't do this.

Janet, sounds like a way for them to make some easy money off nervous newbs...  a swim course is not like a bike course, it's all water, right?  If you are comfortable in an OWS situation, I would think you could do that anywhere.... I'd go for your sister's lake...  siimilar situation here, local tri coach is offering an OWS clinic/class at the race site, for $22... I don't need the clinich, would just like not to swim alone!  I'll be skipping that one...

Yea, that is pretty much what I decided.  Yea it would be on the course and my $20 would get me fruit for afterwords, but it just seems a bit off putting to me.    I'll get my niece to follow me in the kayak and swim in Long Lake instead.  (maybe someone will throw me a banana)

Went for a ride with Tammy this morning, rode the bike leg for Sunday's tri... nice ride!  We had a noob with us, Stacie who isn't that fast (yet), so took it slower than normal.  I took off a couple of times... I was feeling pretty bad , till I pulled over in a driveway to wait for them to catch up and fell over off my bike.... DUH!  Yep, even bad mentors do stupid stuff!  Not too much damage to me or the bike, some scratches and road rash, and my elbow is pretty sore... just hope I don't stiffen up too much overnight... tri is 3 days away, I'll be fine.  I was a weenie and cut my ride short, while the girls went on to finish...

I LOVE the pigtails!! LMAO!! It was definitely a slower pace than I wanted and could have ridden, but didn't want to leave Stacie aka Sparky too far behind on her 2nd ride.

I thought Hilde was just being a smart alec when we crested the hill and I saw her take a seat on the grass....Then as we got closer and I realized - she was NOT smiling and must have fallen. Ah well......even the BEAST has a bad day now and again!

Yeah, that's not too bad!!!  If I were a girl I'd be concerned about shaving around that road rash mess.....gunna look like a gorilla leg around that area....And more importantly...drag in the water and slow you down...I'd saran wrap that baby for hydrodynamic goodness.  Hopefully the elbow doesn't stiffen up and cause you issue on your dophinismish swim.

Kati, nice pic....I thought she may have been my dream girl until I saw her "seat"....eeeekkkkk....Not very attractive in my book...unless you like that sort of thing????  Maybe Brad and/or Shawn does...they both aren't right!!! Tongue out

Naw, I'm gonna shave right over that $h!t!  There's really only that one scratch that broke the skin, the rest is road rash kind of stuff.  Feeling pretty good this morning, tought I might feel stiff, but I'm feeling "normal", HA HA HA!!  Off for a swim with Kati which should loosen any tightness up... I'm ready to RACE!!!!

Good luck to everyone this weekend!  I'm leaving at noon and will be out of contact until Monday.  I'll fill you all in about my event.  Not looking to place in this one it has the reputation of being very competitive (even in the "older than dirt" age group).

Well....a rest day for me, but I must brag on Hilde and Tammy Tucker.  Those chicks were quick like the prom queen today!  Kane and I went to support, and Kane ate all the triathletes' snacks at the finish line while I took pictures.  They did a very good job, and they both brought home medals!  Congrats guys, you ROCKED!

Been AWOL for a bit - visiting Wesley in TN and he just moved into a new house with no internet until today (Monday).  Thanks for all the inspires!!  The race was awesome - no race report up yet, but comments on my page - and I did pretty good with the hydration and the heat all things considered.  Wesley was totally awesome!!  He's come so far in such a short time.  I perservered on the VERY hilly bike ride (didn't walk at all) and feel pretty good about that!   Will get the race report up once I get home.  Gotta go play with my grandsons.  Smile
