Thanks everyone, it was fun doing the race. Today was day 432 with 5 recovery paced miles, I could've gone faster and farther but I dod not need to push it right now and risk an injury. I am feeling pretty good, my left hamstring is a little tight but lossenes right up while running and the bottoms of my feet are sore, just a general soreness like they are bruised but do not get worse while running.

The official race results or out and my official time was 8:59:26 which was good enough for 4th overall out of 36 finishers and I was the 3rd overall male finisher within 55 minutes of the male winner and 32 minutes of 2nd place. They were both 38 years old too so just kids compared to me. lol. I did win my age group of 50-59 year old out 4 that finished in the age group. the closest in my age group was well over two hours slower. There were 54 signed up for the 50 miler so the were 18 DNF's or DNS's not sure which. I do know of 3 that for sure that did not finish.

I am really pleased with the results but still think I can do one under 8 hours if I run a smart race instead of going out too fast. This was also only my 11th running event of marathon distance or more and my second ultra. I have only been at this since 2010 my first marathon and started running in 2009. I guess it is never to late to start.

That is such a great job! Do you think starting later that your legs are fresher? That is compared to someone like me that started running back in 1982 and did my first marathon in 1986.

Not sure about that, I abused myself in different ways as a younger guy. It sure could not hurt though, but I do run high weekly milage.

Day 430 was yesterday with the 50 miler which I finished in 8 hours and 59 minutes and some odd seconds. Not sure of the official results yet but I am pretty sure I was in the top 10 finishers and maybe the top 5. I know for sure I won my age group of 50-59 year old men. Not bad for a 50 year old man huh. I do not feel to bad over all, I little muscle fatigue but not near as bad as I thought I would be. It was cold yesterday high in the low 20's and in the teens most of the day and early evening. The race started at 10 am. There was also more snow on the ground than I wanted but what can you do. I run all winter long outside here but usually on the shoulders of the road that are cleared of snow so I underestimated how difficult it was to run in 4-6" of snow for 50 miles. I usually only go for 4-8 miles in the deeper snow getting to the road I am going to run on. Still I am very p[leased with my results considering I was really stupid and went out way to fast, ran the first 20 miles at an 8:50 pace. It was not really a sufferfest to finish though I just had to slow my pace and keep pushing on. Now to get back to some marathon training for a while.

Today was day 431 with 2 easy recovery miles.

wow

it is tempting to see how far I can take it, not sure how I'm gonna swing it everyday as I get in the thick of training for Augusta 70.3 for late September, it will be a challenge working 50+ hrs every week, taking my daughter to all of her swim practices. I'll seriously have to sit down and come up with a way to work everything in!

Day 433 with 3 easy miles, I was going for 6 miles but the hot wings and beer I had yesterday made me cut the run short and head for the bathroom.

I find it appropriate to save my 100th post on this site for my 100th day of running in a row.  Thanks for the motivation.

And congrats to others on their streaks and navbtcret on the awesome ultra.

The streak wont stop here.

I haven't posted in a few days, but I'm still streaking.

Day 67, 7 miles on Treadmill, Pyramid run.  Felt like my most challenging run during this streak.

Oh, and congrats to the folks for hitting day 100 and blowing away the ultra.  Both of y'all are quite inspiring.

Just googled running streaks and came across som pretty strong streaks! Some have been streaking for over 37 years...just blows my mind that some people have this level of commitment.

Yes it is. I am on the list or will be when they update it but I sent them my info and paid my memberships dues to have my streak recognized as an official running streak. You have to do it for one year for it to be official.

Day 434 with 6 miles at an 8:52 pace. My first run since Saturday under 9 minute miles. I am feeling real good and recovering well. I attribute that to the running streak.

On another note my local news papaer did an article on me in todays paper. Here is link to it if anyone is interested and if it works.
