Waidaminit...is that the guy that lives on Drury Lane?

Yes, yes it is.  Hey, Sal, as long as you're online, I was thinking maybe you could stop by the mentor thread... I'm over there trying to dole out running advice!!!!

You know Mila, some day when I get some free time and don't get sucked into actually doing work while I've got time off, I'd like to take a stab at getting some rough training schedules mapped out for the folks on our mentor group that are asking for schedule advice.  I'm sure I'll get on that as fast as I'm getting Kendra those pics I promised her...

lastcall2003 - 2007-12-28 5:35 PM

DR (date report)

the preparation:

  • C woke up at 7:30 am (ok, he's 12 AND on vacation - LOL)
  • He was showered and dressed by 8:30
  • He was dressed with a different shirt by 8:45
  • He was dressed with a different shirt by 9 am (everything he tried on was too small)
  • 9 am mom puts a load of laundry in with the one shirt that fits and looks nice (argh, when did he grow so much?)
  • Laundry was completed while mom was swimming
  • 10:32 am - mom gets a call at the gym - 'when are you coming home? we need to leave soon!" (cheesecake factory is 10 min away)
  • 10: 45 am - mom gets home - "Ok, are you ready to leave now?"
  • 11:00 am - "are you SURE it only takes 10 min to get there, maybe we should leave now in case there are traffic problems)
  • 11:10 am - leave home
  • 11:20 am - arrival (10 min later, just like mom said )
  • 11:30 am S - arrived   let the 'date' begin

the menu:

  • Dr Pepper
  • Pizza (they split one)
  • Cheesecake for dessert (no, no, no - not that kind of cheesecake! -what else would you have for dessert at the cheesecake factory?  - lol)

the atmosphere:

  • it was quite chilly in the restuaurant - they both kept their coats on
  • weird egyptian decor (the designer's goals were obviously lost on my son)
  • it was very busy, and they had to wait for just a bit

the service:

  • OUTSTANDING
  • the  was "amazing!  he seemed to know just when we were ready for more to drink and was right there"

the food:

  • OUTSTANDING -
  • there was a LOT of food - they give you 6 slices of pizza for one person - thank goodness they shared

who paid:

  • they split it!!!!! (they had agreed ahead of time that they were each paying their way)
  • they left a 20% tip because the server was SO GOOD! (omg)

What would he do differently:

  • have more clothes that fit to choose from
  • go when it's warmer

They had a great time -

man, would I have loved to have been a fly on the wall!

What an awesome date report. Wish I had something like that to look back on. You need to save this for him someday.

How sweet! He gets to start his dating experience with a GOOD first date. Not many of us can say that.

Mmmm hmmmm...

I was thinking of just posting some pics in the mentor thread when they ask a question I can't answer... "I don't know, and I can't find Sal, but here's a picture of my fingernails... it works in Nibbins" .

I can remember my first date with my hubby and that was 26+ years ago. Lasted 3 days, or as we like to say, we are still on it! LOL

As to my "first date" it is really a debate as to which I would call a date! But lots of details are fuzzy.

enders_shadow - 2007-12-28 7:52 PM Oh, no - Dee...feel better. And thanks, Beth for the date report...that rocks! And thanks, Spokes for the pix yesterday (was it yesterday? I get so confused on Nibbin time)... I was suitably amused. And whoo whoo - Mila on a run team! And for my news update, Sugar Daddy and I have decided on a new project - we are working our way through the Wine Spectator top 100 of 2007. It is good to have a hobby. Tonight we're splitting a bottle of The Prisoner, which Santa fortuitously brought Sugar Daddy on Christmas morning and is #17 on the list, sparking the new quest. (He also got the issues of Wine Spectator listing the top 100 of the year and the issue of the top 200 cheap wines - gotta have something to drink on week nights!) (In case you're wondering, the Prisoner is a nice blend of Zin, Cab, Syrah, Petite Syrah, and Charbono...yum!).

Mmmm... I've had Prisoner before, I think I liked it. And for your amusement, I'm having a Menage a Trois right now. Wait. No. That's the name of the wine. Really!!! I swear!!! Trust me, I would not be on BT if it were... nevermind...

Yes, a run team for me. We just have to hope the big bad wolf doesn't rear his ugly head in January and that I'm actually able to run. However, I'll aquajog if I have to but I'm going on record right now as saying that a mile of aquajogging sucks the big kahuna. I'm not really sure what that means but I just wanted it to be clear that it is the epitome of suckitude where training is concerned .

Mila - are you able to handle the elliptical? You could always substitute that for the run mileage if needed... Im sure no one would object.... (ooops Im not responsible for this challenge am I?

First date? No idea.... I always seem to fall into relationships and at high school it was usually your frineds decided you and some guy should be together and you 'dated' but you didnt actually go out on dates really... more like hung out in groups...

Although I guess my first real 'boyfriend' was when I was 12/13 and actually he was an american... we would hang out at his parents house and swim in the pool and kiss (oh my!

Hi Cat, yes, the elliptical doesn't usually bother me.  When I can't run I either do that or aquajog.  My dream tri is to be able to walk the swim, bike my heart out and then run on the elliptical.  I could definitely podium .

Dating now is so different... it really isn't dating... it's more like "Hi, thanks for visiting my MySpace page.  I am going to be at XYZ tonight with my posse.  Come hang out if you're hot".  Then, it's the digit exchange and the text messages and group date scene... at least that's my old lady interpretation of it.

Good. Maybe when my 9 year old starts dating they won't even talk to each other. I have noticed that a lot of the teens do like the group date thing. Sounds better than getting stuck with some sleeze for an evening.

Im with ya... although Im happy to swim! Talk to that challenge organisers (oh Beth! Oh Dee) but it means you dont have to worry if you cant run! Lots of options

I really have to get back with the physio when he gets back from vacation so I can get cleared to run again... not running is sending me a little nutty although Im gonna have to be  so careful and conservative (NOT in my nature Im an all or nothing kind of girl)

hehe well we used to do it... it was funny.... because all your friends would tell all his friends that you liked him and they would tell you that he liked you so you would go to a movie or something and sit next to each other with all your friends and usually be too scared to even talk to each other...  (I know I set up a few of my friends like this...  Ishould be thankful they still talk to me!)

Seriously you could be considered 'dating' and never actually spend anytime together when I was in high school... at least between about 11/12 and 14ish.. then dating kind of kicked in for real...
