Loved to watch these guys in the shallow spots of the North Platte river. My folks had a cabin on the river and in the summer these fish would hang out in some of the deeper spots near shore waiting for something tasty to drop in.

This summer was bad for fishing here in Houston, too much rain. Hubby and I usually fish every weekend down in Galveston. I have a kayak that I love to fish from but it didn't see much action this year.

They can get really large, I understand. If they show up, fishing goes to crap really quickly. I guess the fish run away from them, maybe because they are so UGLY!!
