Girl Passing on Left - 2009-10-13 11:36 PM

kcarroll - 2009-10-13 6:45 PM Long days at work this week...a theme for several of us....so having trouble keeping up.  Glad to hear Stacie's kiddo's are ok.  Dueling pianos sound fun.  Contractor from hell sounds familiar. Wish I'd been around for the "goodie" discussion.  Tuskegee was an abomination of science and ethics.

So, have fed the "fur people" and am going to crash.  Plan has me running 5 miles tomorrow, but have to be at work by 7am.  Not sure that is possible.  (the run that is, no option on work) I draw the line at being in the sneaks any earlier than 5am.  A girl has to get some sleep. Will work on an alternate plan later.  Easy enough to move some other things around later in the week. "she says with sincere optimism."

Great job Ghoulies!

Hey Kim....sorry you are working sooo hard! hope things settle soon! and I totally feel your pain on the no sneaks before 5am thing! I am a morning person...but not that much of one!! sooo what is feeding the fur people??? I am thinking your pets!?! do I win???

Ah, working hard is part of the game I signed up for....small, entrepreneurial company.  When I start grumping about work interfering with my training, I remind myself that no work is not a great scenario.  Anyhoo, the "fur people" (anthropomorphism be darned) are Jackson and Max, my kool kats.  So yes, you WIN!!!  First prize for Jules.  Blue ribbon in the mail.

suweet....blue ribbons ROCK! I am such an animal lover...couldnt help but guess pets!

disturbed275 - 2009-10-14 7:47 PM And according to Julie that's unhealthy.

It's ok for us.  You live by yourself (I think) and need some company and I spend most of my time with a baby who's language I barely understand.  We are both cleared to talk to ourselves on the internet as much as we want!

Oh boy!  Just got baby to sleep.  I'm hungry.  Time for some cereal or something.  Yeah, I know.  Terribly exciting.  I'd rather be eating some yummy salmon.  I haven't had anything good today.  A couple of granola bars and graham crackers is it!  Yikes!  Good night Goulies!

iowagander - 2009-10-13 10:38 PM Good night Ghoulies. I'm going to try and actually go to bed at a decent hour tonight. Wish me luck!

hope you had lots of good zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz time! did you make it to bed early as planned??

11:30 - only a half hour off the mark. Still slept pretty good though.

good deal! now tonight you go to bed a little earlier to make up for your late comings last night! and another nites good rest is an order!

stay away from the caffeine...that will help some...and no tv in your bedroom...supposed to keep your mind stimulated even while sleeping as is your alarm clock lights that beam at you...I just saw on that doctors show that a red light is the only color you should have in your room...and to think I always thought the red light was to be used outside the home to let you know who was inside waiting with a goodies package....

and seriously they did say the green color lights, blue lights and white lights that you find on most alarm clocks and radios next to your beds are not good for you...but the red color light is!!!! and to think someone actually did a focus study on this....next time will they pay me to talk about sleeping!!!

Oh that is good news...the numbers on my alarm clock are red!

I have an alarm clock that has super cool dimming lights. I usually turn it completely out while I sleep. It's wonderful until I go out of town and the light from their alarm clock keeps me awake. LOL.

Nothing too exciting to report from work tonight. Which really is a good thing, since an exciting night at my work generally means someone left the clinic in an ambulance.

That's exciting, but not in a good way.

Now riding downhill on a bike at 39 miles/hour...that's both good AND exciting.

I finally bit the bullet and signed up for the Carlsbad Half Marathon on Jan 24th! I'm very excited because this has been a goal of mine for a while now, but I'm nervous because my longest recorded run so far is about 6.5 miles. At least this will give me a good excuse to KEEP TRAINING over the holidays. I'm still eating copious amounts of candied yams at Thanksgiving though. Avoiding those would be sacrilege.

Nope, can't avoid those. That would be BAD.

Congratulations on the sign up. Way to go! You are going to love it. I did my first half mary last spring. I had never run more than 3 miles or so before hand. On runs longer than 5 miles, I found that if I map it out and then just go, stop thinking about how far I've gone, or how long it's been...just get into a rhythm and go. I found I really love the runs that are around 6 miles or so. (My family thinks I've lost it.)

I take my son to the asthma specialist at the children's hospital tomorrow. Keep us in you thoughts. I hope they can give me some insight as to why he had such a horrible flare (it was seriously 3 weeks long). Either way he's doing better now, and continues to get better with each passing day.

Consider it done. I'm glad to hear that your son's feeling better after his flare up. Hopefully you'll be able to get some good answers and keep him breathing smoothly for a long time.

My family thought I lost it years ago Thanks for the tips, and I'll be sure to keep you all posted. I don't start on my Hal's Pal plan until Nov 2, but I'm using the first few weeks as a guide to build my base until then. Go Ghoulies!

Morning ghoulies!

I spent the entire day yesterday buried in paperwork.  Boo!

But I can see the top of my desk now!  Yea!

Never did get to my run, though.  Boo!

Going to do better today.  And I've made a pact with myself not to get that far behind on the piles again.  Annoying to pay bills late because I just never got around to looking at them.  It's just so easy to get distracted when the bike is sitting on the trainer right behind me calling my name...

I need a training and housework challenge.  Extra points if the bed is made before the run, bonus if all the bills were paid on time this month, etc.

disturbed275 - 2009-10-14 6:00 PM Holy smokes!  This doing actual work while at work is leaving me soooooo far behind on this thread

work....arent you in focus groups all this week!? and what was for lunch today? same ol sucky sandwiches?

Believe me, these groups are work.  And much more intense than my normal job.

They bailed on the sucky sandwiches and replaced with some hideous mac and cheese concoction.  They definitely failed with the caterer this week.  usually we get someone good.
