Looks like TS Issac is going to sideswipe Tampa in the middle of the RNC.  Serves those guys right for shutting down the river so we can't row all next week!!!

Basturds!  You will have to use the awful erg!

I know

We've been shut out due to weather all this week too and we are trying to prep for a race in November.  Grrrrr!

Well I'm not dead yet and I don't have breast cancer so I'm good.

Everything else was about as expected, well I didn't expcet the lipid panel to be quite that bad.  Cholesterol is just shy of 300 as are my triglycerides and my HDL is in the low 30s.

Morning TAN.

I am bummed, I got up at 4:40 for my run only to have one of the worst runs in the history of running. Very disappointing and can only hope I have a better swim at lunchtime.

You can't have good ones without the crappy ones.

Yep I have a strong family history of massive heart attacks on my fathers side.  Add to that the metabolic effects of PCOS and I am screwed.

Morning TAN!  Got a reprieve on the temps in Az!

Last night,  I was able to do my first real outdoor bike ride since IMKS, and it was way awesome! I didn't get to run 2 miles like some people, but it was still a wonderful thing.

My cholesterol is there too ... only the bad cholesterol numbers are BAD.  The other 2 are in the "awesome" range.  Mine went from 105 to 290 in about 8 months. Doc attributes it to hitting menopause and family history  since I exercise and eat well. He put me on Crestor which took it from 290 to 130 in ONE month.

However, the medication made me feel awful and I stopped taking it.   I mean really really awful.  I had a constant muscle ache all over.  I was tired all the time and even though it doesn't say it's a side effect .. I gained 6 pounds jiggle in ONE month while still working out and eating clean.  Within a couple weeks of stopping I felt a world better.  I could actually unload the dishwasher without fatigue.

I don't know what I'm gonna do now.

that's interesting...did your numbers go back up?  there are other meds you could go on, i'm sure?

So I am official back to trying to workout (if you want to call it that), ran last night.  What is your guess here??

Before I had surgery I weighed about 150, after surgerey and recovery I lost 15 lbs, which I am guessing was muscle?  I am happy with how things fit and feel, and wonder with going back to S/B/R if I can avoid bulking up?

Ask the doc about Niacin + statins. DDI and such. Mine recomended against both simultaneously. But then again, not all statins are equal.

Metamucil is another great one. It scrubs cholic acid before your liver has the chance to make cholesterol from it. It's the same mechanism which oat bran reduces it. Plus, the sheer volume of pewp is quite impressive.
