I think Sal and Mila's group could end up giving Yanti's group a run for their money in the category of post counts!

and to think, they are spending their time chatting there and not hanging out with the nibbins {pouty face}

LMAO!

Yeah, well, the problem is... Sal and I seem to be the only ones posting in our mentor group.  I suspect the boys don't quite know what to make of me yet.  They'll learn.  I already gave them an itemized list with no number six...

I feel a bit like Im posting to myself in my group right now to. I think it might be because veryone writes these long posts (which I asked for as an introduciton) that I then respond to with a LONG post of my own...

so half the thread is me typing stuff... I pretty sure everyone will warm up though!

Yeah, I think so, too.  In the meantime, it just gives me yet another outlet for post count padding ummmmm... erm... inspiring others to be the best they can be?

I feel the same way. Maybe it's because we've been hanging out in Nibbins. LOL

D001 - 2007-12-12 11:07 PM  Um. May I remind you that I don't have a bike?

You can just walk the bike leg.  I wish I could run the swim.  Wait, on second thought, if it doesn't rain here soon, I can!

Okay, my story from My First Tri at Lake Lanier last year (May). My hubby signed up to do this one with me. He took a couple of swim lessons, but I know he was not ready to swim 400 yards. So there I am swimming and I look over for him and see that he is walking in the water and going faster than I am swimming. I yell out to him that he can't walk the swim faster than I can swim it. So, he then started walking at my speed. Fast forward to August, I ready to start in the Acworth Woman's Tri, hubby is there to support me and he over hears two woman talking about the lake Lanier race and how this woman yelled at her husband that he couldn't walk the swim faster than she was swimming it. He slunk away from them before he started laughing. Busted.

LMAO thats fabulous!

Going to do it? You, Pam and I can all drive up together. I'll be the one waving the cowbell at you, Pam, Pat and Cat.
I think I'm off that weekend, so it could be a possibility. Guess I'll need more time than a weekend though. If we all are serious about it I could make it work. LMK
I think Pam, Pat and Cat are serious about it. Me, well, I think I need to start a tad smaller. Like with a little Sprint Tri. LOL
You could do a sprint in April or May and be ready for the International distance in June.

you could do the international as your first and you would be just fine... promise!

Bring a spatula. 'Cause you'll need to scrape me off the pavement.

You are underestimating you abilities i think... so... come for a party!

she'll probably feel better about it once she has a sprint under her belt

Totally understand - so whens you first race Dee?

We need to get her in one quick like. Us Twisnibbins know that she'll do great.
Um. May I remind you that I don't have a bike?

Borrow one? Rent one? Buy one?

OK. Bring two when you come here.

Sure you can use the truck - otherwise I was gonna get hooked up with a rental... see yuo there then?

The truck? Oooh, I can use a truck on the bike portion? What can I use on the run? (Cause otherwise it's gonna be a crawl. LOL)

Umm yuo know the truck is the name of my mountain bike right? Its got road tires on it...

Um. So there's no engine on it then?

LOL

The swim portion was along the shoreline, so once you got around the bouy you could head to shore and the shallow water and walk. There were a lot of people doing that. Really rather funny. The race does not count for anything official. It is called "My First Tri" and that is exactally what it is. All first timers figuring out how this Tri thing works (and getting hooked).

well, technically - there is no rule # 6, so we need to be a new rule #14 -

although I just saw that Mila is going to let us pretend! LOLOL

That's what I need! A "My First Tri" race.

Is there an All Womens race near you? They are great for first timers...

D001 - 2007-12-13 3:35 PM  Will you be the engine for my run? If not, well, like I said - bring a spatula. LOL

You have 6 months to practice running... you coud do it in that time if you put your mind to it!

Busted.

That's awesome!!!!

Yes, I think there's one, actually. By the time I found out about it, it was very much closed.

I keep hearing that the NC races close out right away.

x2!!!

Dee - I have seen how hard you work and the amount of training you put in.  You really will have no problem with a sprint - I truly think you could do an Oly easily as well - but, a sprint is a great place to start!

I personally am a fan of the sprint distance for first timers,  but everyone is different

Me too but it does depend on your sport backgroud and what races you have available. if you want to put the time into training for something longer it can be done

Thank you for the vote of confidence.

Of course, if I spent a bit less time on BT, I could probably train more. LOL

That's why I joined a mentor group run by someone in NC. LOL

He also said that the 2008 races close out right away.

well, that could be said for more than just you - LOL

actually though, it's not necessarily about training more - it's about training smart - for the specific event

BT actually has some really nice training plans - I like to use them because it takes the guess work out of it for me
