zed707 - 2008-09-19 4:18 PM 2001 Honda Civic LX sedan. Love it. Slap on the trunk mount rack and go. Honda reliablity--zero mechanical problems so far (sound of knocking on wood). 30 mpg city 35+hwy. ULEV=Ultra Low Emission Vehicle My "green" car is green.
I love my 2001 Honda Civic LX. Mine is also green (how funny that we have the same car). Gas mileage is great and the trunk is rather large.

x3. I too own a 2001 Honda Civic LX (also green). It's nearing the 100k mark, no mechanical issues thus far. I use a trunk-mounted bike rack, with no problems. What the car lacks in power and personality, it more than makes up for with mileage and reliability.

1993 White Camry LE

187,000

runs like new, except for the exhaust leak it has right now

avg 24 mpg, worst ever was 21, best was 33 (5 years ago...alsa those days are gone)

AND I CAN FIT MY BIKE IN THE BACK SEAT WITH BOTH THE WHEELS ON.

And since it's a 93, I don't worry about if I get the seat a bit dirty.

I have a Mazda 3 Hatchback and it's a great tri car.  Didn't know a thing about triathlon when it bought it, so it was a lucky mistake. I have a pretty small bike, but I can toss it in the back with the seats down and even leave the wheel on.  I get 25-30 mpg depending and a TON of compliments.  It's really cute.

However, I covet Honda Elements.  They have great durable interior, no nasty carpet to mess up with bike tires and road salt in the winter.  And you can strap in two bikes upright!  Wow.

I fell in love with the Honda Element last night at the dealership!  I can NOT believe I like it so much. I definitely thought it was a chick car, but NOPE, definitely more than that, it's a TRIATHLETE'S car!  The fact that you can swing the seats to the side and load your bike right in there with no problem, aannnnnd the floor is rubber and not carpet, dang! Amazing.  That's the car I'm looking for now!

PS- Honda Elements rock!  My, MOM, of all people, has one.  Fit 3 bikes in the back, with wheels on.  Fit 2, and 2 people, and a dog on the back seat!

Plus, the thing can tow small loads- my Father uses it to pull his bass boat, although get it in the sand, trying to pull the boat out...and it could use a little bit more umph.

Beware- gas mileage isn't great, my mom averages about 23 with it.  Pulling the boat we got 18, on a trip once it got 27.

Awesome vehicle though.

One car to seriously consider: 2009 Subaru Legacy Sedan Special Edition

I leased one under Subaru's Labor Day promotion for $260/mo, with $260 down and 12K per year. I am not sure what the current offer is but it is a ton of car for the money.

High rated car, for mileage and crash durability. AWD and a good interior for a $22K car they way the special edition is equipped.

This is my new utility car to haul me to races, up to the mountains, and haul around my kids and all our gear.

I have a 1991 Honda Prelude with only 115K that has been my triathlon transition area for the last 1.5 years. I'll sell this after I fix the radio, a muffler leak, and move the Yakima rack to the Subaru.

Third car is a 2002 Audi S4 that I have a long love affair with...came with 250hp/258 ft. lbs/torque and it currently rests at about 540 hp/525 tq....sub 4 sec to 60 and high 11's at 121 mph in the quarter; and that's for a 3300 lb car that is really set up for road racing (road courses). My favorite stat for the car is that it trapped 91mph in the 1/8th mile! Gas mileage varies depending on octane but hovers close to 15 if I drive it sanely.
