Subject: RE: TriForrestTri & Blackbud's Group - FULL Hey Mark - I just did a quick search of the free training plans and found 10 Oly training plans you might find useful. During your off season, I'd suggest picking a couple of weaknesses to work on. For example, my swim form is pretty weak and I've got virtually no muscle, so this winter I'll be looking for some swim coaching and starting a weight training program. And now that I think about it, BT has recently put out some off-season plans too, so you might check those out. While my idea of focusing on a couple weaknesses in the off season seems to make sense, it's not very scientific, so BT's off season plans may be a better route.
Last but not least - pick up a copy of Joe Friel's Triathlete Training Bible. It's some heady material to read straight through, but it's got great information!!! Good stuff to read in the off season. Edit: I don't think I even came close to answering your question The "right training" plan is really up to you. Some of them focus more on a specific discipline while others are more balanced. Since this will be your first Oly - you might pick one of the first two plans. They're specifically made for someone doing their first Olympic distance race. The total volume of training is a bit lower on those plans, so you shouldn't over train yourself.
