Will,

Good to see you plan to start back up.  We will be checking your logs to keep you on track.  As for the legs feeling heavy, it really depends on how much else you are doing.  It could be from over doing it.  But I would guess that your legs are just telling you nice workout.  This is not an unnormal thing.  Stretching will help, or you can try an ice bath if you are so brave.  Otherwise, it will just take time for your body to get use to it.

Thanks J,

I'll monitor how my leggs feel over the next few weeks. I would say i use my quads alot when cycling; if i'm going up a hill i want to go faster then when on a flat.

I'm going to weigh myself soon as well to start counting down the KG's.

MASH.

Hey all,

I'm finally out from under the rock of 7 day work weeks, and getting back to focusing on me and some training. I've signed up for a local race, the Pole, Pedal, Paddle. It's not a tri, but it is one hell of a race anyway. See earlier post for more info on the race:
http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp...

Also, thanks for the words of encouragement, and by the way, I'm Ed, not Carl.

Hey Hector, your pics are inspiring! Great job on the weight loss and the Duathlon.

Hey gang,

I competed in my first 10k race today. It was a great time, and I'm proud of the result I posted. 54:04, it's the fastest I've ever run 10K. I caught and passed at least 3 people who blew past me in the beginning!

I hope all is well with the you!

Hi guys, I know I've been kinda lost for the past 2 weeks but, I've been really busy. I have my first tri this Sunday.

1.1 mile swim

40 mile bike

10 mile run

I'm really pumped up about this event. I've been training for seven months and I feel ready. I wish I had more time to train this month but I really think I'm going to be fine for this race.

Hector...good luck in your race on Sunday!

Hey everyone... so I am sorry i haven't posted much, it's really hard finding the time between work and training to get all of my commetns written down.

Training has been going well, at least my coach thinks so...so I am pretty confident about my race next month.  I actually had a long talk with her tonight about how I take things so seriously nad need to learn to just have fun with this.  I am that way in all aspects of my life, so this is nothing new to me.  I am going ot rty this next few weeks ot take it easy on myself a bit.

Last week, my Ocean mile swim race was fun, even though the current was strong and made me fell like I wasn't moving at times I am planning on doing a 5k this weekend.  I was going to do a Duathlon, but with not having a road bike, and just my hybrid, I feel at a disadvantage.  So, I don't want to get myself down if I don't do well just b/c of my bike.  So, I am going to wait to do any bike races until my tri, when i have a road bike to borrow.

Anyway, thats my update..hope everyone has a great week!

I had a great time. I really enjoyed my first experience in a Triathlon. Please see the race report and check out the pictures in my album there are 18 of them. enjoy!.

Again thanks guys for all the support. I always check your comments. In a way you were all there with me. I could not wait to post my results and my comments so you could check them out.

Thanks,

Hector

Congrats Jamie, I'll read the RR a little later.  I don't think many people from this group are still around and getting on BT.  I guess I wasn't a good mentor and couldn't keep people here.

Jeff...don't take it personally..people get busy and you can't make people want to stick to their training...I just get really busy and can't always post so much on everything I want...I also have a coach here, so I ask her most my questions....but I know you are there if I need you...

Have a great day!

Good morning Sports fans,

Unfortunately i've been my busy social self. I'm a self confessed gig pig and usualy at a gig twice to three times a week, this is making logging my training that bit to far.

BUT, as it's only a few days ('till August) now until my first every Tri you should see a marked inprovement in my logging and questions.

I had a tuffy to ask over the weekend but darn forgot.

Well done jamie on your second Tri, it's been so long since i joined and started general training it's kinda taken the excitement out of it for me. I have to reallllllllly focus and dicepline myself. Any tips on this from anyone would be great, although i think i'm going to stick a big wall chart up at home so there's no getting away.

Since i last blogged, the weather in London (not the entire UK) has inproved dramatically, temperatures as high as 22 celcius in April and May! Very high over here. It seems running in the light in the evening and mornings makes me faster, you could say i'm solar powered.....

i hope everyone is well and nice to see yall check in again.

Will.

I always find that logging my workouts and seeing the charts with my progress really help get me excited and stay focused...I always want my graphs to be higher than the week before or be very colorful...maybe cause i'm a girl!  But, I like the accountability of the logging.

Good luck!

What I did for motivation this year was to print out a poster like piece of paper that has my three big races on them.  I took the banners from each website.  Everytime I see it, I remember why i work so hard.

Hey gang,

Sorry I haven't really been around, but I've been a little busy. However, I did manage to get a race in today. While it's not a tri, I completed in the Pole, Pedal, Paddle. It was a grueling, yet exhilerating race!

Here's the race's website if your interested.
http://www.mbsef.org/events/ppp/index.cfm?page=about_the_race

I managed to pull it off in 2:46:08 (I was hoping to do it in under 3:00:00).

Jeff, don't get down on yourself. You are a great mentor. You cared enough to check in on our logs and leave us notes of encouragement as well as notes of "tough love". As for me, with a business in it's 14th month of existence, a 2 year old daugther, and a baby boy due June 11th, I realized something had to give, and it was training for races. Originally, I was hoping to compete in a local tri in the end of June, and I now realize that was a fool's dream! (Which I believe you called me on in the beginning). So, what I'm saying is thank you for taking the time even though I was not able to benefit from your knowledge as much as I would have like to....
