Hey guys. I'm just checking in. Sorry it's been a while since I've been on. These past few weeks have been pure hell at work and as if that wasn't enough I think my body said the third BT challenge in a row was too much. I was trying to catch up on some training I was behind on and it bit me. I suffered a back spasm and haven't been able to train for the past several days.

I'm going to drop from the challenge so my dead weight and low percentage of completion do not hinder your awesome efforts and I'll still cheer you on to victory. I got back into training today with a short run to test my back and I'm A Ok so I'm back at training but with it being the evening of the 27th there is no way I'm going to be able to make all this up.

Cheers,

Mike

People are dropping like flies on this team

Is this not the 5th person to drop out

When this is over we should put in a signature line that says

I survived the May challenge on the International team

-mmakaryk: I hope you will be back to 100% soon

Hi all.  Great work by everyone even though a couple folks had to drop out.   I'm over on my swim and walk/run goals and about 2 hours shy on my bike goal.  My knees are acting up, but I will try to get back on the bike.   Worst case, I expect to log another 2000 meters swimming.    If it is okay to have the overall goal percentage at 100%, then the swimming will put me over the top.

Good luck to Isabelle and Mike - sorry that you had to drop out this late in the game and hope to see you on another challenge soon.

It's always a real shame when people have to drop out of a challenge and it's never an easy decision. I just want to remind everyone that it's not the only option.

If you get sick or injured during a challenge then you can reduce your goal to reflect what you are able to do rather than drop out entirely.

Hey folks,

Looks like my goals really were challenging this month. I am stuggling to meet them at the moment. I should be able to get the bike up quite a bit and get all of them close....approx 90% but I don't think I can make em.

I think travelling for a week earlier this month and having a taper for my first tri followed by more recovery than I originally planned for has made this month's challenge just too tough.

I will be giving it my all for the next 2 days but I don't think I can get there.

Like Chris said....it supposed to be a challenge, so if I knew I was gonna make it easily it would not push me or if I knew I could change my goals it would give me an "out" which I really don't need.

Congrats to all those who have really pushed hard and made and even exceeded their goals for the month so far and sorry I am a burden and not a help as a team member this month.

Hopefully I can be on your teams in the future and prove that this month was just an anomaly.

K

90% is brilliant!! I think because we had the "issues" with the AWOL team members, everyone's started thinking it's 100% or bust. Which it certainly isn't! And putting on my "challenge organiser" hat, I wouldn't let you reduce your goals just because you set them too high or found the going too tough . (The only reductions allowed are for illness or injury where you can't train for a period of time.)

We've got three days left, so good luck with the training everyone!! Get as much done as you (safely) can and stretch for those goals

(I reached my swim goal last night with a really great training session, so I've just got two days of biking and running to go!

Could not agree more with you

It is supposed to be a challenge

I Still have 18 miles left to run for the challenge ...  And to get decent swim session in . And 2.5 days left  ....   While interviewing /networking  for another job ... .

Good luck All .    We are  almost there  .....

Hey, as Chris said- It's a "challenge".

x2. That's the whole idea -- to challenge yourself.

For me, the challenges are about pushing yourself, and staying motivated. If they do that, then they've served their purpose.

After all, the penalty for losing a challenge is just usually something slightly embarrassing - like having to change your avatar, or display a silly signature line. It's not like we're taking away your children, pets, spouses, homes, AND tri gear.

Now why are you all here reading this? Shouldn't you be out training or something?

(Great job this month, everyone.)

OK, challenge complete for me. I'm at 104.58%-110%for swim and run, a little short on my bike but I was a bit sick for a bit and the weather didn't want to play when I wanted it to (Oh, and I struggle for motivation on the bike-working on it tho').

Keep going Internationals, we can do this.

My final numbers are in the spreadsheet already.  I ended up with 110% on swim and run (walk for me), but was shy on the bike.   Overall total was a hair over 100.   See you all in June or sometime thereafter.  It was fun.

Hi Team,

I just finished my last two workouts for the month and I am at 105% total. Did exactly what I challenged myself for in the swim and on the bike but did not reach my running goal due to hip injury. But I added my warm-up and cooldown walks for the team but even without them I would have been just over 100%

Hope you all have a great weekend and thanks for a great month

Well i finished just a little short overall with 98% .

I liked having the bonus for bricks as it got  me out there running after my bike rides .I was really surprised with how quicly the jelly legs feel went away.
This training will help a lot when i race .

I had the opportunity to swim in the ocean yesterday so that was my last swim workout getting me up to 97% on the swim , again great race prep as all my A  races have  ocean swims .

I would have liked to get the 100%  but with the busy work schedule mid month  ,  i  left myself a little  too much running for the last week .

 Great Job everyone.

WE CAME SECOND!!!!!

Well done to everyone for a brilliant month's training. We missed out on 100% by a hair's breadth, but given the size of our team, I think our achievement is terrific!

Congratulations to everyone and thanks for putting in such a great effort!!
