Expert 671 | Subject: RE: cayrip's group - FULL karen26.2 - 2009-01-16 9:05 PM The relay race looks awesome. I grew up in Los Altos / Palo Alto area. Woodside and Atherton are really cool towns. How does the race work - everyone takes turns doing certain sections? Is there a van that follows you or something? Yes...typically two vans and you trade off running at designated places...the race decides where but you can run anywhere from 3-15 miles at at time (up to 30 miles in 24 hours if you aren't lucky!) depending on the race. I run with a group of folks from all over the country and we have done a race every year since 2003- 2003--Colorado Outward Bound Relay--short but brutal 2004--Hood to Coast (Oregon and largest race-over 10,000 people) 2005--Reach the Beach (Vermont) 2006--Wild West Relay (Colorado--we won our division and set the division course record) 2007--Blue Ridge Relay (North Carolina) 2008--Wild West Relay (we heard rumors that someone was going to try and break our division record so we can back to win again and lower the division record by an hour) 2009--The Relay (California) I highly recommend chekcing out any of these relays and consider participating in one. They are a lot of fun. I know someone here in Denver and on BT who is looking to put together a team for the WWR again this year. Let me know if you are interested and I'll put you in touch. My brother and I have been talking about it for a couple of years, and hope to actually ride one year. Is it really really hard? Just curious, it looks cool. And isn't New Belgium Brewing a sponsor? Yum! I haven't but it sounds fun. |

Was a lot less than I planned on spending so I became a member of their frequent spender club. I shoulda joined earlier though because I guess i've spent over $500 there in the past few months. Member 24 | Subject: RE: cayrip's group - FULL I went to the local Nike Outlet yesterday and they are having some killer sales right now on running gear. I got some new 'Nike Zoom Lightweight' socks and they turned out to be too thin and gave me some blisters on my run today. They are just one small blister on each foot on the inside side of the ball. My question is this: I'm running a marathon in 6 days, should I pop the blisters or let them be? PS: I wouldn't recommend these socks to anyone running more than a mile.

Regular 135 | Subject: RE: cayrip's group - FULL Well I am also back from the holidays, did a lot of traveling myself and its good to get back on a normal training schedule. I also scored when it comes to a bicycle. I was bike less and the only bike I had ever been on before now was a walmart special mountain bike. I lucked out though and a friend of mine has loaned me his trek road bike, with carbon frame and ultegra components. If I can figure out how to post a picture I will put one up. Really lucked out. Went for my first ride yesterday just a short one about 8 miles to get a feel for the bike. I picked a route without considering topography and started out with a wicked up hill that gased me pretty good. Then had an awkward moment at a stop sign when I couldn't get my foot out of the clipless pedal... it was all a good learning experience I suppose. Did another ride today, lil further this time. Had fewer pedal difficulties and managed the hill better. I suppose cycling is something I will have to work on mor then I thought. I will post my training log asap. |

I will post my training log asap. Giving your pedals a complete going-over might help with your difficulties. Have them serviced or do it yourself. Sometimes if they haven't been used in a while or abused they get harder to clip in and out. Practice also helps. Just make sure you don't flop over in traffic :0 |

Master 2151 Johns Creek, Georgia | Subject: RE: cayrip's group - FULL I've fallen many times in front of traffic. Not the last couple of years, but almost always on my first ride out for the season I forget to un-clip. Then when I finally got over it, my friend who does not bike much always manages to fall when I convince her to go for a bike ride. I'm sure the cars love us all - crazy bikers!!! |

I'd let them be. They may reabsorb themself and then you won't have to deal with potential raw spots. |

If they have nay chance of ripping open on the run, I would bring some athletic tape with me and be prepared to tape over the area. Good luck and have a great race! |

I didn't even get into the bike pics requirements, should be drive side showing, in the big ring up front, small cog in rear, pedals at 3 and 9, everything level, contrasting background, no clutter or anything incriminating showing in pic, ............ This is you bike your taking a picture of, not some senseless thing like your family or pets, one must give it the care and consideration it deserves |

In fact, I think everyone should post a picture of their bike. |

I've had my Cannondale R1000 (Light stiff pro-level alu frame, Ultegra, Krsyium Elites) for 5 seasons now and the only different than stock item is the stem, which is only one size larger. Momma gave the ok to get a new one if I wanted and after looking at everything out there I realized that I have pretty much all I need. You are set as well. Nice purchase! And I will take that challenge, pictures will be taken and posted this weekend! |

hah you sound so matter of fact about what reads as a really high end bike. nice looking bike and awesome sounding set up. I hope you eventually get fast on it. Alright folks bring it on... Critique my workout space and critique my bike. I've electrical taped any identifying marks because I occasionally use this as a commuter and don't want anyone to get any ideas, but since you guys aren't going to steal my bike it's a Diamondback Racing Podium 2 . They were practically giving them away at the local dick's because the 08 models were discontinued. I've since had my LBS take a look and over the course of a few months have upgraded any deficient parts. The aero bars are the newest... I got the bargain brand because it's the first aero bars i've used and wanted to make sure I liked the position before i dropped a lot of money on the expensive set. I almost forgot. I started a Tri Blog and just wanted to share it here. If you have one too please add me and we can be blog friends. http://onyourwayup.blogspot.com/ Edited by jtaddei 2009-01-23 8:35 PM (bikestationmid.jpg) Attachments ---------------- bikestationmid.jpg (80KB - 20 downloads) |
