Extreme Veteran 1329 Wausau WI | Subject: RE: Lumber Dad's Mentor Group - Closed sozzie - 2010-12-31 9:43 AM I was looking at the different training programs on the site today and noticed 2 that interest me; the 16 week olympic - 2x balanced and 20 week olympic - 2x balanced training programs. One thing I noticed that bothers me a little is that the long swim and long bike are during the week. Does anyone see any issues in moving those around a little so it fits my schedule a bit better?
I always do my long run and bike on the weekend. You might want to add some brick workouts in there once in a while. |

Regular 119 | Subject: RE: Lumber Dad's Mentor Group - Closed Big hurdle for me today. Since I am at my parents visiting, no treadmill in sight. I opened the door to 45 degrees and rain, not what I wanted to see for my morning run. You can say that I am a fair weather runner. I ran anyway and although it was cold, I felt the run went well. Hope everyone is getting in their training or getting ready for the New Year. Have a great New Year and don't eat too much food tonight. |

Extreme Veteran 1329 Wausau WI | Subject: RE: Lumber Dad's Mentor Group - Closed Getting a head start on the weekly weigh-in. I haven't weighed in for a few weeks, with all the holiday cookies and food I have ben afraid to. Weighed in this morning @ 172, that is down 2 lbs since Thanksgiving. Not sure how I did that, guess I will have to get more cookies :-) I still want to get down under 170. |

It helps to learn how your legs will feel coming off the bike. You could also do a short bike before your long run. You don't have to do it all the time, maybe a couple time a month. |

Hopefully everyone will still be around come mid Feb. After about 6 weeks we'll see the members that have lost their drive. Edited by sozzie 2010-12-31 1:07 PM |

Member 68 | Subject: RE: Lumber Dad's Mentor Group - Closed After looking around the Ironman website, I noticed there was a HIM race in NH at the beginning of June. Unfortunately it's too close for me to do this year, and it's also a bit nuts to start with a HIM as your first tri, so I revised my 2012 races to include Ironman 70.3 Mooseman. |

I decided to get one brick workout in before the end of the year for good measure. It was a short workout but still felt great. Got a cramp at the beginning of my run, 2 mins in, but was able to stretch it out and keep going. |

Extreme Veteran 1329 Wausau WI | Subject: RE: Lumber Dad's Mentor Group - Closed Started out the New Year with 2 hours of cc skiing. Wasn't solid skiing since I was doing a lot of drills with a ski instructor, but learned a lot. Temp turned cold this morning, 5F with winds around 20 mph and gusty, good thing we had the trees to block some of the wind. |

Regular 119 | Subject: RE: Lumber Dad's Mentor Group - Closed Hey all, Hope your New Year is going well so far. As for me, I completely forgot about the "kicking the soda" habit and ordered a diet coke with my Quidoba Burrito for lunch. Hopefully, that will be the last one. Still visiting my relatives due to a death in the family (wife's grandmother), so waiting on the funeral and visitation until we can get back home and start a "normal" 2011. For those new to BT or the threads, there is an e-mail function at the bottom of this thread that you can toggle on and off. Scroll down to the bottom of any of the pages and look toward the right side, you will see the "e-mail toggle" function. If you select this, BT will send you an e-mail with the latest update that someone posts to our thread. It will not include any emoticons or anything like that, but the text will come through. With this many people in our group, it might be helpful to get e-mails throughout the day instead of reading through them all at once at night (for me anyway, since I have a smartphone). Hope that helps. Happy New Year. |
