sozzie - 2010-12-31 9:43 AM I was looking at the different training programs on the site today and noticed 2 that interest me; the 16 week olympic - 2x balanced and 20 week olympic - 2x balanced training programs. One thing I noticed that bothers me a little is that the long swim and long bike are during the week. Does anyone see any issues in moving those around a little so it fits my schedule a bit better?

 Day   Training
MOff
TShort Swim (30m~40m swim)
WShort Run (5k~6k)
TShort Bike (50m spin class)
FOff
SLong Swim (60m) & Long Bike (1x50m or 2x50m spin classes)
SLong Run (12k+)

I always do my long run and bike on the weekend. You might want to add some brick workouts in there once in a while.

So does anyone have any big workouts planned for the New Year?

I have a long cc ski planned for tomorrow.

Big hurdle for me today.  Since I am at my parents visiting, no treadmill in sight.  I opened the door to 45 degrees and rain, not what I wanted to see for my morning run.  You can say that I am a fair weather runner.  I ran anyway and although it was cold, I felt the run went well.

Hope everyone is getting in their training or getting ready for the New Year.

Have a great New Year and don't eat too much food tonight.

Getting a head start on the weekly weigh-in. I haven't weighed in for a few weeks, with all the holiday cookies and food I have ben afraid to. Weighed in this morning @ 172, that is down 2 lbs since Thanksgiving. Not sure how I did that, guess I will have to get more cookies :-)

I still want to get down under 170.

I've added everyone in the group to my friends list, that way it'll be easy to access everyones log from my own log.

I'll work on configuring RSS feeds for everyone later.

I always do my long run and bike on the weekend. You might want to add some brick workouts in there once in a while.

Brick Workouts?   Google is my friend

Link for others wondering what brick workouts are.

After you do your long bike ride you could add a short run. It helps to learn how your legs will feel coming off the bike. You could also do a short bike before your long run. You don't have to do it all the time, maybe a couple time a month.

I have enabled people to see the logs.  I have not done any in a very long time.  I will from here on out (starting 1 Jan) since it seems like this group will be more interactive that it was last time.

Awesome! Updated my table.

We do seem to have a good group going. Hopefully everyone will still be around come mid Feb. After about 6 weeks we'll see the members that have lost their drive.

After looking around the Ironman website, I noticed there was a HIM race in NH at the beginning of June. Unfortunately it's too close for me to do this year, and it's also a bit nuts to start with a HIM as your first tri, so I revised my 2012 races to include Ironman 70.3 Mooseman.

I decided to get one brick workout in before the end of the year for good measure. It was a short workout but still felt great. Got a cramp at the beginning of my run, 2 mins in, but was able to stretch it out and keep going.

Hello Lumber Dad

Tri season started in October 2010, the Busselton Ironman was in December...there is a half ironman in Busso in May 2011.

I am hoping to join a race in February, just need to pluck up some courage for the swim leg...

Cheers
Alfred

Feliz Ano, Amigos!!!!!

Hmmmm...As i sit here and compare the last couple of years.....YUK!!!!  This past year just didnt happen as far as solid training....Need to get going and refocus...Every year i cut and paste and compare.  Have had good training, but not competitive training.  Too small goals maybe?  Hard to say.    I laugh at socks' swimming mileage.  Yikes!!!

Getting bye though....did survive a stroke scare....life itself, seems like.  Got to be thankful for that.  Love the teaching/coaching...miss my little one...now a college frosh       GO TCU!!!!  Got to try to get my relationship back with him despite of me.  Ill keep praying, trying.  Have made tough choices, albeit not totally popular, but making it.  I love you guys and my friends who love me for who I am and accept me for who I am not.    As my blog title says.....Live Life...Love Life....

Trying to get into longer sprints and eventually an OlY.....And those of you that jump into HIM and IM...YOU guys are freaking amazing!!!!!!!   @#$%^

I know how much a mary' hurts....but after 112?????  Yikes!!!!!  Oh yeah...and there's that little swim detail to start off with....as for me....Im no fish!!!!

So, Ill enjoy my training....Do hope the numbers get better....And admire you that push beyond-------wayyyyyy beyond

Enjoy yours!!!!!

Started out the New Year with 2 hours of cc skiing. Wasn't solid skiing since I was doing a lot of drills with a ski instructor, but learned a lot.

Temp turned cold this morning, 5F with winds around 20 mph and gusty, good thing we had the trees to block some of the wind.

Hey all,

Hope your New Year is going well so far.  As for me, I completely forgot about the "kicking the soda" habit and ordered a diet coke with my Quidoba Burrito for lunch.  Hopefully, that will be the last one.  Still visiting my relatives due to a death in the family (wife's grandmother), so waiting on the funeral and visitation until we can get back home and start a "normal" 2011.

For those new to BT or the threads, there is an e-mail function at the bottom of this thread that you can toggle on and off.  Scroll down to the bottom of any of the pages and look toward the right side, you will see the "e-mail toggle" function.  If you select this, BT will send you an e-mail with the latest update that someone posts to our thread.  It will not include any emoticons or anything like that, but the text will come through.  With this many people in our group, it might be helpful to get e-mails throughout the day instead of reading through them all at once at night (for me anyway, since I have a smartphone).

Hope that helps.  Happy New Year.
