PTWykes - 2011-01-07 7:29 PM Wow you guys are chatty - don't any of you people work during the day?...LOL! It's been sooooo busy at work these days- lots of peeps getting hurt as they try to hit the slopes after months of "couch potato".

I'm going to have to do some major finagling to make it out for the Tri meet-up...getting off work, finding the funds to travel, and the biggest limitation convincing my hubby that he can survive a few days alone with the kids...I'll see what I can do! I would be so sad if I had to miss meeting all of you. Although missing Wilson in his (what was it?) leopard print bikini swim suit (or something like that!) would be A-OK with me! LOL!

Man o Man.....I'm hurt!!! LMAO!

Maybe the men in our group should get one of THESE kits! So much more modest than a thong...

I'm with Marsha: BWAAHAHAHAHA!!! And EW!!

As a former lifeguard, I've seen more than my fair share of really BAD ways for men to wear Spandex, too... remembering the dude in the see-through white Speedo back in the '80s still makes me shudder. Then again, I also had the pleasure of seeing one of my co-workers (a friend of mine, co-captain of the HS gymnastics team) in his (non-see-through, non-overly-exposing) Speedo when at work. Even drawbacks have their pleasures, I guess! Laughing

hildekq - 2011-01-09 8:55 AM Why is it when triathletes are sick or hurt, we STILL dream about training??  Why can't we be like normal people and just ENJOY sitting on the couch and eating junk food??  !

Hilde,

Because we have issues Laughing

Hilde,
The men's cycling  pants were hysterical.  Do they come pre-shaped or do the men have to provide their own "shadows"?  I'm with Wilson, do they come in blue?Surprised

The DO come in blue, but your "profile" won't be quite so "pronounced"... they go for.... $69.69 of course!  I think irridescent would be nice, oh the shadows and highlights they could produce... I think they come in capri length for you, Wilson...

Wilson,

I tried GU last season and about halfway through the season I could no longer get it down w/o gagging. I switched to the blocks which are FABULOUS on long rides. They can be a bit much to chew through on a run, but they work well enough. Thus far I have found that if I eat a solid "good" carb loaded meal (oatmeal / 2 PB toast and a grapefruit) about 90 minutes before my long events (HM's and Tri's) I am good to go pretty much for the duration.

I tried biking w/a camel pack...it just made me sweat profusely on my back and I didn't drink enough of the water to make it worth my while. I don't train w/water handy (except on the bike) so I basically just try to watch my hydration level prior to exercising and make sure to drink plenty (32 oz immediately following) after exercise. The Nuun's are GREAT as are Sports Legs as a pre-emptive strike against lactic acid build up and muscle cramps.

Everyone, thanks for posting about the nutrition topic....wow, what a wide variety of approaches...Just goes to prove that nutrition is a very individual specific.  I got some great info and will look into many of the suggestions/practices further...I need to get to a local store and just buy some of the different stuff and try it out.  The jelly beans sound interesting to me....I think I'd like that approach and you can space them out...to avoid the sugar rush....if that's a problem - which I have no idea?

I took the BT survey that's on the top left of the page...pretty good survey.  They asked some really good questions to solicit improvement ideas.  If you get a chance take it...and at the end you get a few coupon codes for various vendors....Worth the time I think.  Bottom line is that this site rocks!!!!!

Oh for the love of my brain, those images are horrible! Let's hope none of us guys have the Irish curse if we are going to be stuffed in those things.Apologies to all, I got exceptionally busy this weekend and did not get a chance to update my training log as much as I wanted to. BT will sadly have to imitate life where I have no friends until this evening.Have a happy Monday all

so i have a silly question...is there a way to respond to the 'inspires'?  people keep asking me questions, but i'm not sure how to respond.  if i just respond to their comment will they get the message?

Thanks!

Yes, reply to the inspire and it goes to the other person's log... you can go over to their log to see it, just "refresh" the page.  It worked for me today, I got a reply from you!
