Aero bars arrived today! I haven't installed them or anything but at least have them. Going to try to get them mounted this weekend. Tomorrow get to run! Going to take it easy but looking forward to it.

Name Chad and Debra
Location  South GA

We are new to triathalons. I have run only 2 5k with a not so great time but working toward improvement. We have 2 5k races a month in this area so we hope that to be the strong part of our events. We bought 2 walmart bikes and take a 8 miles ride once a week. It is cold so we are hoping to join a gym to improve our workout ability and they have a heated pool! Our 11 year old son also wants to tri so he goes with us and thinking about signing up for the sait anthonys meek and mighty in April. We need mentors to help us to push for our goals and advice along the way.  Hope to hear back from you soon but a quick question. If we used now as a starting point when should we be ready for our first tri?

Chad and Debra. Do you both have ids on BT or are you sharing this one?

Great! First of all, do you know if there is a way to choose my username? I wasn't sure I'd really use BT when I first joined, and I don't care for my name.

FAMILY:Anyway, my name is Dana & I'm 40. I have one daughter who is 10 and I homeschool her. So, I almost always have her with me! I do squeeze in some workouts early in the morning & do my longer trainings on the weekends.

HISTORY: I have never been an athlete before. My sister-in-law inspired me when she visited this summer. She'd started exercising again (she was a super-athlete in high school & college, but had gained a lot of weight.) I started dieting (with SparkPeople) and started a Couch to 5K (C25K) program a few days later. I completed C25K in August and ran my first 5K in September. I ran two more in October, and though I'm slow, I dropped a lot of time within those 5 weeks... I went from 46:30 to 37:38! Then, my sister-in-law invited me to run in her first half marathon with her. At first I was just going to do the 5K, but I ended up going for it. I did my first half marathon in November! Oh, and I've now lost 21.5 pounds since June 1st.

TRAINING: I currently run 3 times a week (usually). I've had a personal trainer for the past 4 months, but his schedule changed and I don't have one now. I do some strength training, but not enough. I bought a bike in October, had a wreck the following week & watched my personal trainer have a bad wreck a few weeks later. I just re-started riding a few weeks ago. My longest ride is 10 miles. I did some lap swimming this summer AND started my first class just last night!!! I also do rowing, spinning, pilates, stair climbing...anything I can find time for! My daughter sometimes works out beside me at the gym. And, she sometimes rides her bike alongside me while I run. I'm determined to make this happen! And, the exercise is good for her & she enjoys it.

EVENTS: Right now I have a 10K scheduled for late February, a Half Marathon in early April, and hope to compete in my very first triathlon (sprint) in early May.

I'm looking forward to training with you all!

Welcome Dana. It sounds like you're off to a great start!

To change your username send a PM to Ron or Marmadaddy and ask them to change it, they're pretty good about it.

Morning, group!  Getting my 3rd run in today.  Probably won't be long as the knee is pretty sore from volleyball last night but I'll manage.  Planning a swim either today or tomorrow, which will be my 1st venture into the pool since October.

ETA: Welcome, Dana!

Ran 3 miles today. Ran 2 of them without stopping at a 12:30 pace on the treadmill. I usually run/walk, so this was GREAT for me! Especially since I'd ran 3.1 miles yesterday, too. And, I usually despise the treadmill! Then, my daughter wanted to keep working out (she's 10 & works out on a machine next to mine), so I did 20 minutes on the rowing machine. The longest I've ever done on it before was 13!

Happy Friday, all!

Didn't run yesterday as the knee was feeling tight and swollen.  It feels better today, so I'm going to run at lunch.

Made an appt w/ a new chiropracter that is closer to work (10 minutes vs. 30+ for my old chiro), so I hope that works out.  I talked to him for ~30 minutes last week and it seems like it could be a good fit.  He used to do work for the N.O. Saints and N.O. Zephyrs (AAA Baseball team) so he is familiar with athletes.

I'll know next Wednesday.
