cgregg - 2012-12-03 1:54 PM interior or entrance doors?

patio doors.  i have a terrible ugly often non-functional 15-lite sliding aluminum door and i want a 1-lite swing open door.

Ah,  if you're talking replacing a slider with double french doors, yeah, those get pricey.  You can save a ton if you can do the install yourself (or have a friend that can).

according to youtube it doesn't look too bad.  i have a friend who does these kinds of things all the time that will help out...

but i'm also shopping for a king bed and a new camera and going to greece so i might have to push off the door replacement and just buy a new can of wd-40.

Nobody willingly goes to Greece.

Granted, I wasn't there willingly, but I've been to Rhodes and I'd LOVE to go back for an extended stay- any time.

I kid of course.  I have been as close to going to greece without actually going to greece.  I was on a Destroyer, going through all kinds of cool places and where'd I touch dirt? Bulgaria... Great!

I know the feeling.  I had the same view of Italy and Sicily - sailed through the Straights of Messina and couldn't do anything bu wave as the land went by.  Felt like I could have spit and hit land we were that close.  Unfortunately, I wasn't travelling in as much style as you, I was on an LST :-/

As a Marine, I'd rather be on an LST.  If I was crew, yeah, a Destroyer.  No room to workout on a Destroyer.  Too many freeloading Marines on an LST.

Ooooh       Sailor Suits!!    Sailor Suits!!     Sailor Suits!!

@Gomes - I was a Bos'n Mate, so it definitely wasn't a fun cruise.... damned Marines always gettin in the way ;-)

@Kate - I'll cook dinner wearing my old dress blues, hehe

I'm good with that!!!

So we should be calling you Boats? OOOOOOOOOWWWEEEEEEEEEEEE OOOOOOOOOOoooooo For the crew...

So, I just Google'd "Winkie" and the first hit was this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winkie_(novel)

The first sentence of the plot description is so absurd that I *really* want to read this book now.

ETA: just bought a copy on Amazon.

Yeah, sorry.  Bossun's Mates are nicknamed "Boats" because they're the ones who drive the boats that go with the ship (liberty boats, zodiacs, safety boats).

They're also the ones who blow the whistles at ungodly volumes at all hours of the day while Marines like me were sleeping comfortably in our racks or doing PT because that's pretty much all we do on ships...

Marines' favorite announcement on ships is "Sweepers Sweepers man your brooms."  It's just funny for some reason...

That was the first thing that popped into mind when I read it, but then for some reason Willy Wonka's Oompa Loomps popped into my head at the same time and then I was confused... so I decided to ask Google :-)
